The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Yusha’u Ahmed, has assured serving corps members that they will soon start receiving the increased N77,000 allowance.
He said the authorities had concluded all arrangements for the payment of their increased allowances.
Ahmed gave the assurance during the inauguration of a staff bus donated by Capital Express Insurance Company Limited yesterday in Abuja.
The NYSC director general assured corps members that his priority was their security and welfare, saying they would get all benefits and smile this year.
He said the bus the insurance company donated to the scheme for its workers was meant to ease transportation issues due to the high cost of transportation in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and its environs.
Ahmed noted that NYSC’s workers and Corps members always complained about having some difficulties in getting to work and returning home due to transportation challenges.

The Chief Executive Officer of Capital Express Insurance Company Limited, Matthew Ogwezhi, said the scheme and his company had been partners for a while and that the donation was part of efforts to support the activities of the scheme.
He said the company donated the bus to enable the workers get easy transportation to and from work as the price of fuel and transport fares in the Abuja metropolis had become expensive.
Ogwezhi added that the legacy of every organisation was the impact they made in the society; hence, the need for them to always give back to the society, as the insurance company had done.
