  • I’ll wait for INEC’s final results, says Buhari

    President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday said he doesn’t believe in rumour and would rather wait for the result that will be declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

    Various results on the social media have trailed the Presidential and National Assembly elections held across the country last Saturday.

    But the President, on arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on Monday, said that he will wait for the final result declaration by INEC.

    Buhari had left Abuja on Friday for Daura, Katsina State, in order to exercise his civic responsibility.

    Asked his reaction to what he was hearing from across the country, he said “I don’t want to depend on rumours, but we will rather wait for INEC to announce the results.”

    On his message to Nigerians as they await the release of results, Buhari said “Well l hope that Nigerians will appreciate that it was this government which made sure that they were allowed in security and peace to cast their votes for whichever party and candidates they wanted.”

    The sorting, counting and collation of the Presidential and National Assembly elections results are still on going across the country.

  • Update: Buhari leads in 32 LGAs in Kano

    The presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), President Muhammadu Buhari is leading in 32 Local Government Areas in Kano, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential, Atiku Abubakar is struggling to clinch unto 25% needed by his party.

  • Breaking: Buhari wins Ekiti with 219,231 votes

    President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has won Ekiti with 219,213 votes.

    The Returning officer for the state, Prof. Idiwu Olayinka, the Vice Chancellor University of Ibadan, said out of the 395, 741 that accredited to vote, APC scored 219, 231 against PDP which scored 154,034 votes.

    Total number of valid votes, according to Olayinka, is 381,132 while 12,577 were rejected due to multiple thumb printing.

    Total vote cast, he said, is 393,709.

    The party agents are expected to inspect the results sheets signed at the state collation office.

    Ekiti state is the only state without a Resident Electoral Commissioner.

  • Buhari wins Yobe with 85% votes

    The Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari has swept 85% of votes cast in the state with his closest opponent, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party trailing behind with just 9% of the votes.

    Announcing the results at the INEC Headqaurters in Damaturu, Prof Abubakar Musa Gundiri, Vice Chancellor Federal University, Wukari, Taraba State who is the state Returning Officer for the Presidential Election said President Buhari of the APC pulled a total of APC 497, 914 of 586, 137 total votes cast as against his PDP opponent Atiku Abubakar who scored 50,763 representing 85 and 8.6 respectively.

    Prof. Gundiri informed that Yobe has a total of 1, 365,913 registered voters. Out of the figure, he said 601,059 voters were accredited for the election.

    He also announced that a total of votes were validated for the election 559,365, just as 26,772 votes were rejected.

  • Atiku wins Ayade’s local government

    Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has won Obudu, the home local government area of Cross River State governor, Prof Ben Ayade.

    Atiku scored 30, 562 to beat Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, who came second with 4, 794.

    The Collation Officer, Dr Tony Eyang, while declaring the result at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) secretariat in Calabar, said the exercise was peaceful in the area.

    Eyang, a lecturer in the Department of English and Literary Studies, in the University of Calabar, said the area has a voting strength of 131, 470 but 38, 738 were accredited to vote.

    Atiku is leading so far in the state by a wide margin after the announcement of nine out of 18 local government areas in the state.

    Also, the elections for Etung local area were cancelled due to violence. The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Frankland Briyai, was silent on whether there would be a new date for the elections.

    Also, there were no elections in four out of 10 wards of Bakassi local government area due to problems with assessing the areas by sea. INEC was also silent about what would be done about this.

  • Buhari leads comfortably in Kaduna

    …9 LGAs to go, collation resumes 2pm

    All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, President Muhammadu Buhari has maintained lead in the Saturday presidential election in Kaduna State.

    Buhari has defeated the People’s Democratic Party (PDP’s) Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in nine of the 14 local governments’ results so far collated.

    According to the results collated at the the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Kaduna State headquarters by Professor Bello B. Shehu, Buhari has so far won in Kubau, Makarfi, Kudan, Sabon Gari, Ikara, Kauru, Giwa, Soba and Igabi local government areas.

    Meanwhile, the PDP candidate has emerged victorious in Zango Kataf, Kaura, Kajuru, Kagarko and Jaba local government areas.

    As at the adjournment of the collation exercise around 10:30am on Monday, results from the rest nine local government areas, which include; Zaria, Kaduna North, Kaduna South, Chikun, Birnin-Gwari, Jema’a, Kachia, Sanga and Lere were being awaited.

    The exercise is expected to resume by 2:00pmon Monday.

  • Buhari leads Atiku in Yobe

    President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is leading Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party in results collated from 16 out of the 17 local government areas in Yobe.

    The results submitted to the collation centre under the supervision of Prof. Abubakar Gundiri, the state Collation Officer, had Buhari scoring 42,485 votes against Atiku’s 3,295 votes in Bade Local Government Area and in Bursari Buhari had 22,253 votes while Atiku scored 2,555 votes.

    In Fune Local Government, Buhari polled 43,948 as against 5,707 votes scored by Atiku, while in Buhari scored 42,448 votes as against Atiku who scored 5,522 votes

    Similarly, in Giedam Buhari received 16, 338 votes, while Atiku scored 613 votes only, while in Gulani, Buhari scored 22,858 votes as against Atiku’s 2,612 votes.

    In Jakusko, Buhari scored 34,424 votes as against Atiku’s 3,390 votes, and in Nguru, Buhari got 36,433 votes to beat Atiku who polled 5,352 votes, while in Potiskum, Buhari got 62,101 votes to trounce Atiku who scores 4,331 votes.

    In Yunusari, Buhari garnered 22,837 votes to beat Atiku who polled 939 votes, and in Yusufari Buhari scored 22,157 votes as against Atiku’s 3,567 votes.

    Others include: Gujba Local Government showed Buhari got 12,227 votes, while Atiku scored 325 votes and, in Tarmuwa Local Government, Buhari got 12,122 votes as against Atiku’s 1, 269 votes.

    In Damaturu Local Government Area, Buhari scored 35,772 votes to beat Atiku who got 2,099 votes, while in Karasuwa Local Government, Buhari polled 22,377 votes to beat Atiku who got 3,692 votes.

    The President also scored 14,619 votes to beat Atiku who scored 2,315 votes in Machina Local Government Area.

  • Buhari leaves Daura for Abuja

    President Muhammadu Buhari has departed his hometown of Daura to Katsina en route Abuja after participating in the presidential and National Assembly elections held on February 23, 2018.

    The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Buhari was seen off at the helipad in Daura by the Emir of Daura Alhaji Farouk Umar ,well-wishers and relations.

    Buhari left Daura at 10:am on Monday in a presidential helicopter marked NA-541.

    NAN also reports that the president was expected back in Daura by next week to enable him to participate in the Governorship and State Assembly elections scheduled for March 9.

  • Buhari leads in eight Kebbi LGAs

    President Muhammad Buhari is leading in eight out of the 21 Local Government Areas of Kebbi in the presidential election results so far released by INEC Collation Officers.

    In the results released by the Collation Officer for the Kebbi Presidential Election, Prof. Haruna Bichi, the Vice-Chancellor, Federal University, Dutsinma, Katsina state, APC scored 17,863 in Aliero Local Government against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which polled 5,458.

    Similarly, in Kalgo local government, APC scored 19,057 as against PDP which got 3,233 while in Ngaski Local government, APC scored 20,641 as against PDP which scored 6,591.

    In Sakaba local government, APC polled 14,026 as against PDP with had 3,800 votes.

    Also in Suru local government, APC polled 22,627 while PDP scored 10,358 votes.

    Furthermore, in Shanga local government, APC got 19,262 while PDP which scored 6,961, and in Bagudo local government, APC scored 29,243 as against PDP with 8,160 votes.

    In Arewa local government, APC polled 32,582 as against PDP which scored 8,390 votes.

    The collation and announcement would continue today by 12 noon.

  • Buhari wins Nasarawa for the first time

    President Muhammadu Buhari has won Nasarawa state for the first time since 2003 defeating Alhaji Atiku Abubakar by 37,896 votes.

    Results collated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lafia shows that President Buhari polled 279,315 votes to defeat Atiku who polled 241,419 votes.

    Buhari won in eight local governments while Atiku won in five local governments marking the first time the Peoples Democratic Party has lost Nasarawa state in a presidential election since then return to democracy in 1999.

    The president got his highest number of votes in Lafia, the state capital, where he polled 55,254, while Atiku got his highest votes in Karu local government after polling 49,292.
