  • Kefasi replaces Goni Aji as Head of Service

    President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday appointed Danladi Kefasi as the new Head of Service of the Federation.

    Prior to the announcement, Kefasi was the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum Resources.

    The President made the announcement during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting as he thanked the immediate past Head of Service, Bukar Goni Aji for the reforms he brought on board.

    Briefing State House correspondents at the end of the meeting, the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, said that Aji retired after putting in 35 years of service.

    He said: “Also today, the Head of Service, Alhaji Bukar Goni Aji formerly retired from service, having attained the height of 35 years in service. He was appointed HoS by Mr. President and since his appointment he served this nation with a lot of forced leadership.

    “His appointment had impacted positively on the federal civil service. Mr. President and the council thanked him for his achievements. He has brought his leadership and capacity, his ability to network with other people in government to achieve the objectives and implementation of the transformation agenda.

    “Mr. President said he found him very competent, very knowledgeable and very committed to his work. The council moved a motion to formally congratulate him for attaining his height in service and also to thank him and for the good he has done for the country.

    “The President then announced the immediate appointment of Mr. Danladi Kefasi, who is presently the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources. He is assuming office as the new HoS with immediate effect.”

    ‘Involve private sector in Transformation Agenda’

    The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoS), Alhaji Bukar Goni Aji, has urged the private sector to be more involved in the implementation of the Transformation Agenda of the Federal Government.

    He said this when a delegation of the Executive Council of the Institute of Directors (IoD), led by its President and Chairman of Council, Chief Eniola Fadayomi, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.

    Aji explained that the aim of the Transformation Agenda, is to change the economy into one that is private sector driven, create wealth and employment opportunities for the youth.

    He said the civil service is willing to cooperate with well-meaning organisations, such as the IoD, particularly in capacity development and integrity building.

    He told the delegation that his office has initiated a public-private sector staff exchange programme aimed at experience sharing and the building of mutual understanding between the two sectors.

    Mrs Fadayomi said the mission of the organisation was the entrenchment of good corporate governance in work places through training.

    She also said the international affiliations of the institute, particularly in Africa, which has opened up new vistas for members.

    She called for the enrolment of senior officers in the Federal Civil Service, as members of the institute, to improve the relationship between the public and private sectors.

    Jonathan appoints four Perm Secs

    President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the appointment of four new permanent secretaries in the Federal Civil Service.

    The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF) Bukar Goni Aji, who announced the approval, said the appointments were made to fill the slot for Yobe State, which became vacant following his (Aji’s) appointment as the HCSF and the retirement of the permanent secretaries representing Lagos, Zamfara, and Kaduna states.

    The new permanent secretaries are: Abbas Mohommed (Kaduna), Adelakun Saheed Kayode (Lagos), Bukar, Mohammed (Yobe), Magaji Abubakar (Zamfara).

    Goni named new Head of Service of the federation

    President Goodluck Jonathan has appointed Alhaji Bukar Goni Aji  as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.

     Goni, who was until his new appointment, the Permanent Secretary, Common Services Office, Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, will take over from Alhaji Isa Bello Sali who will attain the mandatory retirement age of 60 on Saturday, March 23.

     An indigene of   Yobe State  born on January 13, 1959,  Goni  attended Government College, Maiduguri, Borno College of Basic Studies, Maiduguri and graduated from the University of Maiduguri in 1984.

     A career civil servant,  Goni has held several key positions at the state and federal levels including Chief Administrative Officer, Governor’s Office, Maiduguri (1989-1991), Principal Secretary to the Military Administrator of Yobe State (1991-1992), Principal Secretary to the First Civilian Governor of Yobe State (1992-1993) and Principal Secretary to the 2nd Military Administrator of Yobe State (1993-1995).

     Goni was appointed Director, Planning, Research and Statistics at the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs in 1995 and moved to the Federal Ministry of Defence in the year 2000 as Director of Personnel  Management. He headed various departments in the Ministry of Defence until his posting to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in 2008 as Director, International Organisations.

     He was appointed Permanent Secretary in 2009 and posted to the Ministry of Defence. He later served as Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Police Affairs (August, 2009 – August, 2010) and Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Works (September, 2011 – November, 2012).
