  • Kwara APC group wants Saraki expelled for anti-party

A group of stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State have called for the expulsion of Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki from the party for anti-party activities and to pave the way for the re-positioning of the party in the state.

The group who were at the APC national secretariat on a peaceful protest on Tuesday however commended the National Working Committee for adhering to their demand and dissolving the State Executive Committee of the party in Kwara State.

Spokesman of the group, Tayo Awodiji said the Senate President has been working against the interest of the party either in his utterance and action, adding that most of his action as Senate President has been aimed at frustrating the activities of the government.

He said “You are not unaware of the development on the political scene where a number of legislators defected from APC to some other parties. Kwara State is affected by this and as a result, we are not pleased and we wrote a letter to the national Chairman and made some demands.

“Some of the demand include the immediate dissolution of the state Executive in the state. To God be the glory, the National Chairman has been able to take the bull by the horn by dissolving the EXCO. We are here to show appreciation to the National, Working Committee for their response to our demand.

“There are other demands which we have put forward, this include fresh registration of membership in the state to enable know the authentic members of the party. With the step, we are sure that the party will be well prepared to tackle the 2019 general election.

“We also have other demands, which include the expulsion of Senator Bukola Saraki for his anti-party activities. Before the dissolution of the state EXCO the party has stagnated in Kwara because the leadership is directly under the control of Saraki. We are sure that with the development, the party will be repositioned very soon.

“Ordinarily, you should expect them to react, but that does not really matter. What matter is that what was done by the NWC is in accordance with the constitution of our party and it has come to stay. In view of that, we have started regrouping in Kwara State and we plan to have genuine members’ t9 steer the ship of the party. Saraki has been casting aspersions on the leadership of the party.”

They want the national secretariat to approve a fresh registration of party members in the state in other to put real and genuine members of the party in charge of the affairs of the APC in Kwara State.

  • Lamido laments confusion in Buhari’s govt

    Declares himself PDP candidate

Former Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, on Thursday carpeted the administration of President Muhummadu Buhari and alleged that there was confusion in the Federal Government.

Lamido, who insisted that Buhari was not in charge of his administration, added that nobody in the administration could be held accountable for the crises rocking different parts of the country.

The former governor was in Bayelsa State with his entourage to seek the support of Governor Seriake Dickson and the state’s chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for his presidential ambition in 2019.

He, however, declared himself the PDP candidate for the election and boasted that he was sure of winning the ticket and becoming the commander-in-chief in 2019.

Speaking in a courtesy visit to Dickson in Government House, where he was received by crowd of PDP stakeholders, Lamido highlighted some events that made him believe President Buhari was not in charge of his government.

He said a detachment of policemen laid siege at the residence of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, for over 10 hours but that the Inspector-General of Police denied the development and said he did not authorize it.

Lamido further said Buhari claimed he knew politicians behind the killings in the north but had failed to arrest them despite thousands of lives lost in many conflicts.

He said: “Today, Nigeria is under siege. As a government, they have no focus. As a government, we don’t know who is in charge, whether it is Buhari or chief of staff. Nobody knows.

“Lamentably, our President said the issues of crisis and violence is caused by people he knows very well. But he can’t even arrest them. You know them but you can’t arrest them.

“The IG went and blocked the house of the Senate President. For ten hours the house was under siege, but the IG said he was not aware. Who is in charge? Buhari doesn’t know and IG doesn’t know. Maybe it is Sule Lamido. Who do you hold accountable? Nobody.

“We have a government which is not focused, incompetent and evil and this country country belongs to all of us. Today, we could see the impunity in government. The number of theft in NNPC and the Central Bank is unheard of. They loot, drain and suck our blood like leeches. But they will say we are the thieves.

“Today in the north we are killing each other. In Sokoto, Zamafara, Benue and Taraba people are dying. The IG is still inviting Saraki to come for this Offa robbery, but the Attorney-General of the Federation said there was no evidence”.

He said Buahri and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in their tripod campaign promises of security, economy and corruption.

He said: “APC came on the tripod of security, economy and corruption. Under PDP, for 16 years we were only there corrupting, stealing and killing, today we have a party of angels brought from heavens and Buhari, Mr. Saint it is up to us to reflect.

“Are we happier now? Are we more united? Are we richer? And are we more secured? APC is a virus of evil. It has turned lies into a part of governance”.

Lamido claimed to be the only qualified PDP aspirant to challenge Buhari in 2019 and said other aspirants have lacuna in genie membership of the party.

He said: “We want a thoroughbred PDP person. I came to see my brothers and sisters. We share the same concerns and commitments. Before you here is the aspirant not an aspirant. Before you here is the President of Nigeria after our convention.

“Before you here is your brother and commander-in-chief in 2019. Our party needs the cohesion and the discipline.  So, we must rescue Nigeria and it must be somebody with the character of the PDP. In me is a very huge and large heart.

“We have to save Nigeria. I didn’t come to campaign. I am your candidate. Whether you like it or not l must be your candidate. When others come, there will be lacuna in their membership. You need a consistent person”.

In his remarks, Bayelsa State Governor, Seraike Dickson described Lamido as a consistent, dependable, courageous mobiliser for the PDP and supporter of good causes for the country and the party.

While appealing to Nigerians to rally round PDP to rescue the country from its litany of woes, Dickson said Bayelsa was ready to receive more presidential aspirants.

He described the current security and economic challenges in the country as unparalleled saying the APC failed to deliver on its mandate to the citizenry.

He expressed gratitude to Alhaji Sule Lamido and other progressive minded stakeholders of the party for giving the Niger Delta, which is a minority region, the opportunity to produce a president in the person of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.

Dickson emphasized the need for all PDP contestants to pursue their aspirations with the collective interest of the PDP at heart to enable the party organize a free, fair and credible primary that would produce a widely accepted flag bearer.

He said: “You are consistent, dependable and courageous mobilizers for our party. This state remembers the storms you have weathered to defend the best interest of our party. These are very trying times, but you stood by what was right for Nigeria and for the PDP.

“The state appreciates your steadfastness; even our party leaders are waiting at the secretariat to receive you. All i want to say is that, we appreciate, your steadfastness and progressive views.

“We call on you and other contestants to be ready to collaborate with the national leadership of our party when the delegates come together to vote in a free and fair primaries that would produce an acceptable leader”.

  • Scores hold rally in support of Buhari in Kwara

Loyalists and supporters of President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday staged peaceful rallies in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital drumming support for the relection of the president in 2019.

The procession commenced about 10 am in front of the state stadium complex through Unity road along Ibrahim Taiwo road and ended in the Post Office area of the metropolis.

The processors comprised motorcycle riders, artisans and students.

They urged the Senate President, Bukola Saraki to publicly declare which political party he belong and also called for his resignation as the senate president.

Addressing reporters, Spokesperson of the group George Towoju said: “The defection of some members of the National Assembly from the All Progressives Congress (APC) is one of the desperate attempts of Nigeria’s Senator Saraki and his co-travelers to continue to embark on undeserving political negotiations and mortgaging the genuine interest of the masses for their personal and individual gains.

“Having found their political bargains as unwarranted, frivolous, condemnable, barbaric and uncharitable to the overall interest of the entire Nigerian population, it is the resolution of this great movement to pass votes of no confidence on the national assembly under the leadership of Senate President Bukola Saraki for their ill-political characters capable of initiating political disunity and derailing the executive arms of government from implementing masses oriented policies/programmes.

“We hereby call on Dr. Bukola Saraki to make his political party membership known to Nigerians and resign his appointment as the Senate President with immediate effect in order to allow for better legislative process in the interest of the masses” He said.

He urged Saraki “to desist from politics of deceit and assassination of character of constituted authorities in pursuant of cheap publicity, undeserving empathy from members of the public and international community as well as personal political gains.

Towoju hailed President Buhari for his total commitment to the values of democracy, freedom of choice as well as total willingness to work with all members of the National Assembly, irrespective of their political party, for the benefit of the nation.

He said “We also declare our total support to President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election bid and we call on men and women of goodwill and conscience to rally round Mr. President in order to salvage the nation from the current political turbulence and always stand by the oppressed so that we can together build a virile and prosperous Nigeria.”

  • Police insists Saraki has case to answer

The Nigeria Police Force have insisted that the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki has a case to answer.

Contrary to a report by an online media that the Senate President was cleared by the Attorney-General of the Federation, the Force said the Senate President was not exonerated adding that the Police  was only asked to do further investigation.

Saraki was indicted by the statements made by five principal suspects in connection to Offa robbery.

This is contained in a statement in Abuja on Thursday by the Force Spokesman, Ag. DCP Jimoh Moshood.

The statement reads: “The attention of the Nigeria Police Force has been drawn to publication on Premium Times Online Media publication credited to one Samuel Ogundipe, that “there was no evidence that linked Senate President, Sen. Bukola Saraki and Kwara State Governor Abdulfattah Ahmed to the Armed Robbery attack that left 31 persons dead in Offa, Kwara State, in April, Premium Times can now confirm”.

“It is incumbent on the Force to educate the writer of the story that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) of the Federation in the legal advice did not restrain or restrict the Force from investigating further, the indictments against the Senate President, Sen. Bukola Saraki and the Governor of Kwara State, Abdulfattah Ahmed by the principal suspects arrested in connection with the Offa bank robbery of 5th April, 2018.

“The DPP advice did not exonerate the Senate President, it only called for further investigations into the matter”, the Police stated.

The statement further reads: “It is in the course of further investigations into the case that a letter of invitation dated 23rd July, 2018 was sent to the Senate President to appear on 24th July, 2018 at 8.00am before the Investigation Team at Intelligence Response Team office, Guzape Junction, Abuja.

“Consequently, the Force is hereby re-affirming that the Senate President, Sen. Bukola Saraki has case to answer by virtue of the facts that the statements submitted by the Senate President, Sen. Bukola Saraki earlier to the Investigation Team was not explicit and detailed enough, and was discovered to require further clarifications and interrogation, and coupled with the fact the Senate President, Sen. Bukola Saraki in his statement, claimed that the full text of the statement of the suspects who indicted him in their confessional statements to the Police was not shown to him.

“It is therefore, imperative for the Senate President, Sen. Bukola Saraki to report to the Police to make further statement after sighting the full text of the statement of the suspects.

“Furthermore, the Force wishes to inform the media and the public that investigation is still ongoing on the Offa bank robbery and the indictment against the Senate President from the confessions of some the arrested principal suspects, and that, there is no  political influence or consideration in the matter.

The Police urged the media not to allow the pages of their esteemed publications be used to misinform the public adding that they are veritable partners in crime prevention, protection of lives and property, and absolute compliance with the rule of law.

  • Saraki’s refusal to honour Police invitation disrespectful – Police

The Nigeria Police Force has described the Senate President’s refusal to honour its invitation as disrespectful.

The Force Spokesman, Ag. DCP Jimoh Moshood stated this during a morning show on Channels Television monitored by The Nation.

“We are treating it as a disrespect to the law and we are going to take appropriate action to ensure that he complies with the rule of law because nobody is above the law.

“The position of the law is that anybody that was alleged of an offence must make himself present.

“He has sent a written statement to the investigation team and it was not satisfactory. There are lots of grey areas that needs to be cleared and that is why he is being invited.

“The investigators have been directed to take all actions within the ambit of the law to ensure that there is compliance with the law because the bottom line is that we have a case that can stand the test of trial against the Senate President and we don’t want people to politicize criminality. He was indicted based on the confession of five principal suspects in Offa robbery,”Moshood stated.

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris wrote a letter of invitation to the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki for him to clarify his involvement with five principal suspects in connection to Offa robbery.

The confessional statements made by the suspects allegedly indicted Saraki.

The Senate President was expected to report to the head of Intelligence Response Team at Guzape in Abuja on Tuesday by 8am but he didn’t show up.

Instead of honoring the invitation, the Senate President’s house was besieged by some personnel of the Force but the Police Authority said it had no hand in the blockade.

The Police also said it was investigating the matter adding that a statement has been collected from the Aide-de-camp (ADC) to the Senate President in order to ascertain what transpired.

The Police also said the blockade was a calculated attempt for it to be embarrassed adding that it was done to whip up sentiment.

The Police also said its investigation has nothing to do with defection of lawmakers at the National Assembly.

On why Saraki is being invited, Moshood said: “On the 23rd of July, an invitation was sent to him whom he acknowledged because we have reliable information that he got it. We were expecting him by 8am on Tuesday for further investigation into the Offa bank robbery where 33 people were killed.

Read Also: Saraki explains failure to honour police invitation personally

On the alleged blockade of his residence, he said: “If we were expecting him, why would we go and block him? We had no hand in the blockade and two press releases were sent from my office on Tuesday on the directive of the IGP for the public to know what actually transpired.

“We have over 170 Police Mobile Force personnel attached to National Assembly and about 40 are attached directly to the Senate President.

“Outside that, we have the Special Protection Unit that are equally attached to him, we have the ADC, the CSO. We have a lot of other Police personnel including those who are riders and drivers. So what happened on Tuesday was not a blockade by our personnel, we didn’t block the residence.

He continued: “Those seen in the picture and video were personnel that were attached to him because we don’t even use Mercedes Benz for patrol.

“We don’t have any Mercedes Benz in our fleet for patrol and in that picture, there was Mercedes-Benz vehicle. Those are the personnel attached to the convoy of the Senate President and those attached to his residence for his protection.

“We have the obligation to also protect his family. The wife has policemen attached to her, also his guest house and other houses are equally protected.

“So those seen were those attached to the Senate President but the IG concerned with public interest and the need to let Nigerians know what transpired has directed an investigation into the matter.

“The ADC was invited because he is supposed to know the whereabouts of his principal but if the ADC is in isolation, we would want to know who called for whatsoever additional Police Personnel seen there because there was no authorised deployment from FHQ or any other Formation to block his residence.

“You don’t go and block an empty house. What do we stand to gain by doing that? We have other means for which if we want the Senate President to comply with the dictates of the law, he would and he was invited and we were waiting for him.”

He added: “Whoever is the officer that used that discretion to order a blockade is attached to the Senate President and that is what we want everybody to know.

“It was circulated for the media to embarrass us. Apt to from the pictures and videos,  radio stations were also running commentary that they don’t know the whereabouts of the Senate President as at then.

“They were also saying the house of the Deputy Senate President was also blocked. They are the heads of the legislative arm of government and we have an obligation to protect them. A thorough investigation has been ordered to know who gave that directive but we strongly believe that they are among the convoy of the Senate President.

“If the whereabouts of the Senate President is not known, then the ADC has a right to exercise a discretion and if the discretion was exercised wrongly, then the Force has responsibility to discipline him and that is why he has made statement and he is being investigated.

“It is important for Nigerians to know that we don’t have hand in it. If we blocked him, he wouldn’t have appeared in the Senate but he presided over activities in the Senate.”

On whether they are working on suspicion that the Senate President arranged the blockade, Moshood said: “In the first instance, these were stage managed for the purpose of whipping up sentiment in his favour. If we were expecting him, why would we block him?”

On whether the Force is being used as an instrument to execute a political plot against the Senate President and the Deputy Senate President, Moshood said: “The NPF is not a political party.  We are Nigeria Police Force and it is enshrined in the constitution. We are not instruments in the hand of anybody and the public must know that in total, the Senate President has far more than 100 personnels attached to his house and family.”

The Police also assured that the rule of rule would prevail at the end of its investigation into the matter.

“We want him to also know that in democracy, the rule of law prevails and the supremacy of law must be adhered to.”

  • NASS approves N45b for ex- Nigeria Airways workers

Fortune has  smiled on the  over four thousand workers of the defunct Nigeria Airways Limited  as the National Assembly late Tuesday approved the final payment of their N45 billion severance benefits, The Nation has learnt.

The signing of the final approval was the last assignment the lawmakers carried out before they embarked on a two months recess.

The sudden approval may not be unconnected to the desire of the federal government to settle the former workers of the defunct carrier to pave the way for the seamless take off of the new national air, Nigeria Air in December.

The leadership of the National Assembly, Bukola Saraki and his counterpart in the lower chamber, Yakubu Dogara were said to have taken pity on the former workers who have been subjected to years of agony in the hands of the previous governments who failed to pay them their final entitlements fourteen years after the unpopular liquidation of the defunct Nigeria Airways.

According to sources, the ministry of finance officials has started holding crucial meeting to determine the payment procedure to be adopted.

Recall that the struggles for the payment of the former Airways workers commenced fourteen years ago after its liquidation during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

While the former workers of the fallen national carrier in Europe and America were almost immediately paid off by the same Obasanjo government for fear of running foul of the labour laws of the foreign countries, the former workers in Nigeria and Africa particularly those in Anglophone African countries were left in the cold.

Since the struggle started, over two thousand of the former workers died with many others left in miserable situation.

Respite however came their way when President Muhammadu Buhari through the minister of state for aviation, Hadi Sirika promised to pay them.

Following the promise, the Federal Executive Council led by President  Buhari towards the end of 2017 ordered the release of the N45 billion for their entitlement.

Though the FEC approval marked the beginning of another struggle for the former workers as the officials at the ministry of finance and the National Assembly engaged in bulk passing as to the whereabouts of the file.

The former workers through the aviation unions had vowed to use their blood to frustrate the floating of another national carrier until they are paid their entitlements.

  • APC Deputy Spokesman calls for Saraki’s expulsion

The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Yekini Nabena, on Wednesday, called for an immediate expulsion of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, from APC for anti-party activities.

Nabena in a statement, a day after 15 senators and some members of the House of Representatives left the APC, accused Saraki of being in cahoots with the defectors.

He said for “being the ringleader”, there was no justification for APC to continue to tolerate Saraki.

“He must go now. Or be shown the way out”, Nabena said adding that the party leadership and other members were not surprised by the defections.

But he said people were rather shocked by Saraki’s utterances and body language, which revealed unconcealed cooperation with the defectors.

He said: “The news of the about 15 senators who reportedly defected from our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), hardly came as a surprise to anyone. What however, shocked political observers, especially democratic minds, was Senate President Bukola Saraki’s postures and expressions, which clearly communicated his unhidden complicity in the charades against his supposed party.

“Clearly, Saraki had a big hand in organizing the events that transpired in the National Assembly. He has, therefore, lost the moral justification to remain in APC. The time to expel him from the party is now.

“The public outing by the deserters at the National Assembly was the culmination of months of antiparty activities organised and directed by Saraki. And every scene in that dramatic work of shame revealed his hand.

“When the senators submitted the letter declaring their intention to leave APC, which was excitedly read by Saraki, the Senate Leader, Senator Ahmed Lawan, attempted to point out what should have been the right procedure if APC had a true party man at the helm.

“Lawan tried to emphasise the need to allow some time for dialogue, knowing that politics is always a game of negotiation, dialogue, and agreement. Rather than listen to the senate leader and stand down the defections, at least temporarily, to see how the situation could be salvaged, Saraki simply gave in to his own consuming interest in the whole affair and enthusiastically shut down the valid intervention by Lawan.

“The senate president went on to make a deceitful case for the defectors.

APC as a democratic institution of democrats understands that “People have the freedom of association.” Saraki did not need to remind us or anyone of that fact.

“Like we had cause to emphasise in a recent statement, “The APC is not averse to dissenting positions. But we reject deceit in every shade or form.”

“We have also previously emphasised the fact that the senate president is the major sponsor of the so-called Reformed All Progressives Congress (rAPC), which has pulled out of APC, and whose members in the National Assembly staged the exit that we saw today.

“Being the ringleader, therefore, there is no justification for APC’s continued toleration of Saraki. He must go

  • Don’t derail Nigeria’s democracy, Southwest PDP urges Buhari

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the Southwest on Tuesday urged the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to initiate actions against moves to derail democracy in Nigeria.

The party in a statement by its Zonal Publicity Secretary, Ayo Fadaka criticized the manner ‘despotic’ democracy under President Muhammadu was gaining ascendancy.

It reads “The Police action taken again the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and his Deputy, Ike Ekeremadu clearly is an abuse of the fundamental human rights of the duo and also an abuse of power privileges.

“No excuse or reason can justify the prosecution of this cheap and pedestrian action; these gentlemen are no criminals that should be hounded by the police who should clearly devote their time squarely to ridding our nation of the many criminal elements that torture the citizenry daily”.

According to the statement, the police invitation to Saraki was in furtherance of the petty attempt to rope him into the now famous Offa robbery, stressing that President Buhari and his handlers should know that irrespective of concoctions in this regard, the eminent and illustrious background of Saraki will never make them to stick.

PDP said” We know this smokescreen is to hound him because of the obvious fact that 15 Senators on Tuesday abandoned the sinking APC ship for the PDP.

“The choice of political party is an inalienable right of every citizen and no power can hold those who have chosen to leave back in the APC.

“President Buhari must also realize that he has since dropped his beret and jackboots, therefore, only persuasion and sincerity of purpose are required to populate any Party”.

The opposition party congratulated the fifteen Senators for taking the bold step to dump a party that exhibits absolute intolerance, incoherence and incompetence in the administration of our dear nation.

“Nigeria today is tottering dangerously on a precipice on account of these factors; a nation that was enjoying near absolute peace in 2015 is experiencing mayhem of differing proportions across board.

“The APC’s government of President Buhari has sentenced over 83 percent of our population to penury and life has become so unbearable”.

“Nigerians today need a new lease of life and therefore call on many still hibernating in APC to bolt out of the Party now reputed for its failed promises, deceit and incompetence.

“We wish to point out that there exists a great danger to our democracy and this is apparent by the many attacks on perceived opponents or enemies of the Buhari administration, democracy is not the same with despotism.

The party noted that Constitution must be respected, while institutions like the National Assembly and Judiciary too must equally be respected.

It noted that if truly this action against Saraki and Ekeremadu was being taken to forestall a sitting of the Senate with a view to preventing scores of APC Senators from decamping, it is pedestrian and disappointing.

The statement recalled that former President Jonathan experienced similar actions in 2013 and exhibited maturity by taking all in his strides, urging President Buhari to follow his worthy example.

  • Lagos senators oppose Banire’s nomination as AMCON chairman

Three senators from Lagos State Tuesday opposed the nomination of Muiz Banire as the Chairman of the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON)

President Muhammadu Buhari had submitted a letter to the Senate seeking the confirmation of Banire as AMCON boss.

But Senate at its sitting Tuesday received a petition endorsed by the three senators from Lagos State which opposed the nomination of Banire as the chairman of AMCON.

Senator Solomon Adeola (APC-Lagos West), who laid the petition, noted that it emanated from their constituents.

Adeola noted that enclosed in the petition were “the signatures of the three senators from Lagos State against the nomination.”

He solicited the permission of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, to lay the petition before the Senate for consideration and approval.

Saraki gave Adeola the go ahead to lay the petition.

He referred the petition to the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions for necessary action.

The Senate had on July 18, 2018 acknowledged receipt of the request from President Buhari to confirm Mr Muiz Banire (SAN), as Chairman, Governing Board of Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON).

The President said that request was in compliance with Section 10(1) of the AMCON Act 2010.

The Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Matters on July 23, screened Banire for appointment as AMCON chairman.

The committee has not submitted its report o Senate in plenary.

The petition may be a stumbling block to the confirmation of the nominee.

  • 2019 election will be walk over for Buhari despite gang-up – APC chieftain

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Engr. Kailani Mohammed has said that, the 2019 presidential race would be a walk over for President Muhammadu Buhari despite the ‘gang-up’ against him.

This was also as he said that, greedy and selfish politicians were the ones behind the killings in the country especially the North Central region.

Engr. Mohammad, a very close ally of  Buhari since the days of All Peoples Party (APP) argued that, the said selfish politicians were causing the insecurity to discredit Buhari’s government.

The President’s ally while addressing a press conference in Kaduna said, Nigerians were treated to a rude shock as cattle rustling, kidnapping and Fulani herdsmen/farmers clashes soon took center stages to replace insurgency, all in the bid to dampen the gesto, anticipations and expectation of the Nigerians in Muhammadu Buhari led administration.

He added that, these politicians working their selfish interests posit that the Fulani/farmers clashes is a manifestation of the fact that Fulani herdsmen see the President as their kinsman but it is known fact that some people guise of Fulani to perpetrates killings in the North Central.

Mohammed who was the Chairman “Buhari Votes Guard and Awareness” further stated that in order to debunk the insinuation, President Buhari ordered security agents to arrest any Fulani man found trotting a gun and we hope this will neutralize the rumor mill. However fingers are pointing at politicians for rising wave of killings in Nigeria.

“It is alleged that politicians sponsor thugs and hoodlums who are responsible for most community skirmishes and killings in the country that has sent many Nigerians to the great beyond.

“In this direction, the Nigeria Police have invited President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki over an allegation that he sponsored some political thugs that have been unleashing terror in Kwara State,” he said.

He continued that, revelation by the leader of the Middle Belt Peace Network, Jayeola Mohammed that Jonah Jang a member of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and former Governor of Plateau State once vowed to make Plateau ungovernable for Lalong is something that is worrisome.

“Mohammed further claimed that Jang, who was recently arrested by the DSS over issues bordering on corruption and abuse of office, had sworn to extinguish the peace of Plateau State and enshrine anguish and despair by empowering youths in the area with weapons.

“The Intelligent community and the civil police must thoroughly be investigated so as to know the connection between those killing Nigerians under whatever guise.

“Security agencies should rise up to this challenge and ensure that those who kill daily to promote and protect their political hemisphere must be brought to book. It is quite disheartening that our politicians have turned themselves into security threats in the country. They use human lives as shield to promote their political ambitions.

“Human lives should not be devalued by killings as part of political games. No matter how highly placed, offenders must be prosecuted and adequate justice be meted out to serve as deterrents to others of like minds.

“No Nigerian is bigger than the law. It is time for government to wield the big sick against vicious politicians, who daily foment trouble for the country and her peoples so that the rest of us smaller mortals will be secured from the high and mighty,

All these they are doing to discredit this government, but, God and the masses of Nigeria are behind President Muhammadu Buhari. By God’s grace, 2019 presidential election will be a walk over for President Buhari, despite the gang up against him,” he said.
