    Burna Boy set to release visuals for ‘Love’

    Burna Boy announces release of “LOVE” music video

    Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy has announced that the music video for his song LOVE will premiere today at 5 p.m. WAT.

    He shared a 22-second preview featuring nostalgic family moments, warm embraces, and fans holding signs expressing their love and support.

    The teaser followed his December 7 performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where he debuted LOVE from his Grammy-nominated album No Sign of Weakness. 

    This appearance marks his fourth on the show, the most by any Nigerian artist.

    LOVE is also nominated for Best African Music Performance in 2026, a recognition that aligns with the song’s themes of family, resilience, and emotional strength.

    The 2026 Grammy Awards have announced their nominations, showcasing a diverse range of talented artists.

    The ceremony will take place on February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

    African artists have made a significant impact, with Burna Boy, Davido, Omah Lay, Ayra Starr, and Wizkid all receiving nominations.

    Burna Boy leads the African contingent with two nominations: Best African Music Performance for “Love” and Best Global Music Album for “No Sign of Weakness.”

    Other notable nominations include Sabrina Carpenter’s second consecutive Album of the Year nod for “Man’s Best Friend” and Lady Gaga’s fifth Album of the Year nod for “MAYHEM.”

    The Best New Artist category features emerging stars like KATSEYE, Olivia Dean, and Addison Rae.

    The 2026 Grammys also introduce two new categories: Best Traditional Country Album and Best Album Cover.

    According to Burna Boy, Campbell played a pivotal role in initiating the collaboration.

    “It’s actually crazy because it was initiated by Naomi Campbell, she made it happen. Before I knew it, I was talking to Mick Jagger, and it felt like we’d known each other forever.”

    The seamless chemistry between the two artists is evident in their song “Empty Chairs,” which blends Afrobeats rhythms with classic rock influences.

    According to him, he later made the conscious decision to convert to Islam.

    Directed by award-winning filmmaker Asurf Oluseyi and executive produced by Bose Ogulu, Damini “Burna Boy” Ogulu, and Osas Ighodaro, the film captivated viewers with its gripping tale of survival, sisterhood, and revenge.

    Burna Boy entered his latest album, No Sign of Weakness, in both the Album of the Year and Best Global Album categories. His hit singles ‘Last Last’ and ‘For My Hand’ were submitted for Record of the Year and Song of the Year, while Love was entered in the Best African Music Performance category.

    Wizkid submitted his project Morayo for Album of the Year and Best Global Album. His track Piece of My Heart is up for Record of the Year and Song of the Year, while his collaboration with Ayra Starr, Gimme Dat, was entered for Best African Music Performance.

    Ayra Starr, on her part, submitted her single Hot Body for both Record of the Year and Song of the Year. She also joins Wizkid in the Best African Music Performance category with their joint track Gimme Dat.

    The submissions come ahead of the official announcement of nominees for the 2026 Grammy Awards, where all three stars are expected to be strong contenders representing Nigerian and African music on the global stage.

    Growing up, Burna Boy recounted how he spent hours drawing superheroes like Spiderman and Superman, and created his own characters.

    He said that the creative process led him to develop the name “Burna Boy,” which he wanted to use as a character in a comic book.
