  • PDP, CAN, knock Fed Govt as NOA cautions

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has knocked the Presidency and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over last week’s abduction of 110 female students.

A statement by National Publicity Secretary Kola Ologbondiyan accused the Presidency and the APC of shedding crocodile tears in the abduction saga.

“We challenge the Presidency to come out clean on issues surrounding this abduction. Who authorised the said withdrawal of troops from the area and for what purpose?

“What alternative security measures were put in place to protect the people after the troops were withdrawn? Who controls security intelligence gathering and consequential protection action and what action was taken to guarantee adequate security in the area?

“Furthermore, we charge the Federal Government to open up on who scripted and released the false rescue report, which frustrated prompt action that would have led to the recovery of our innocent girls? Why was that misleading report issued and whose interest did it serve?

“Indeed, from all indications, every right thinking Nigerian has deduced that there are more than meets the eye in this ugly episode for which those in authority have a lot of questions to answer.

The opposition party said it’s appalled by “crocodile tears” being shed by the APC-led Federal Government instead of scaling up actions on the matter.

The Northern States chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) expressed sadness over the abduction of the school girls .

Spokesman of the 19th Northern States CAN, Rev. John Joseph Hayab told reporters in Kaduna that the Christian body is deeply concerned about the “return of kidnapping of large number of girls again in Nigeria.”

Director General, National Orientation Agency (NOA) Dr. Garba Abari however cautioned Nigerians against making unnecessary speculations over the Dapchi abduction.

A statement by Head, Press Unit NOA Paul Odenyi said:  “The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has noted the unfortunate incident at the Government Girls Science Secondary School, Dapchi in Yobe State and wishes to empathize with the parents of the missing children and Nigerians at large. The Agency at this time would like to caution against unnecessary speculation over the depressing incident saying at moments like these Nigerians should step up their vigilance, stand in prayers and cooperate with security agencies.

“Director General of the Agency, Dr. Garba Abari stated that President Muhammadu Buhari has already dispatched high powered government officials, including four ministers, to the area to ascertain the true state of affairs and report back to him.”

CAN begins moves to uplift persons with disabilities

The National Executive Council of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has approved an eight-point recommendation from its ad hoc committee to tackle the challenges facing persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the nation.

The four-man committee headed by Archbishop Magnus Atilade recommended a national day for awareness, sensitisation and care of PWDs in churches, starting from July 22.

It also urged the umbrella Christian body to develop a draft policy for disability matters in all the national, zonal, state and local government areas of CAN.

The committee further called for establishment of a disability desk at all levels of CAN operations to network with other bodies and organisations working with PWDs.

On training, the committee, which has Rev Dr Ikiye, Rev Dr Ibrahim Wushishi and Bishop Stephen Adegbite as members, advised CAN to run continuous skill programmes for PWDs, especially women and children.

It also called for establishment of a scholarship board to assist in educating persons with disabilities.

NEC members applauded the committee for a job well done, approving all its recommendations with immediate effect.

Atilade said with the adoption of the recommendations, the committee will proceed immediately to implementation.

“Christian churches have a history of being involved with PWDs. We have them in our churches and all around. It is our responsibility to give them a lift and make life worth living for them.

“We have to support them with resources, training and what have you to ensure they are better human beings with more productivity,” he explained.

Security crisis: CAN urges Buhari to reorganise security agencies

THE Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has condemned in strong terms the menace of insecurity challenges occasioned by incessant killings.

CAN reiterated its earlier call on President Muhammadu Buhari to reorganise the security agencies.

The Christian umbrella body at its last National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held in Abuja commiserated with the victims and the bereaved of all the killings going on in the country, especially in Benue, Taraba, Adamawa and Zamfara states, by terrorists, herdsmen and bandits.

According to a statement issued yesterday in Abuja by the Special Assistant, (Media & Communications) to the CAN President, Pastor Adebayo Oladeji, the resolutions made at the NEC meeting include the following: “That CAN identifies with the victims of the on-going killings by the herdsmen terrorists in the Northcentral, the Boko haram terrorists in some states in the Northeast and the bandits in Zamfara State.

“That CAN frowns at the failure of the security agencies to prevent those criminals before they strike as expected of them. That CAN reiterate its opposition to the composition of the National Security Council, which is skewed in favour of one religion and a part of the country. Ours is a multi-ethnic and multi-religious state and we call on President Muhammadu Buhari to respect the Federal Character Commission Act in all his appointments and policies.

“That we call on President Buhari to reorganise the entire security agencies with a view to injecting new officers with new visions and ideas that can restore sanity to all the trouble spots in the country. That every Christian that is of voting age should register for the forthcoming general election.

“That the Independence National Electoral Commission (INEC) should stop the underage registration that characterises the ongoing registration of voters in some parts of the country.

“That CAN frowns at the deliberate attempts being made to discourage people from participating in the registration exercise by the INEC officials in some states of the Federation.

“That CAN appeals to its members not to be intimidated or discouraged by the frustration associated with the registration exercise but to ensure that they all secure their Permanent Voters Card (PVC).

“We urge our members to participate in the political process in the country as the need arises with a view to having the right people at the right places of governance. That NEC calls on all the blocs to put aside their differences and support the leadership of Rev. Dr. Samson Olasupo Ayokunle to move the church forward.”

I’ll keep crying until we get justice – Ortom

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has said he will keep speaking out on the invasion and ongoing killings in the state until the people of the state get justice.

He spoke when a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, South South Zone, led by Archbishop God-Dowell Oyibo Avwomakpa, visited him at the Peoples House in Makurdi.

He said if those saddled with the responsibility of protecting lives and property had acted promptly on reports which he made about threats to invade the state, subsequent massacre could have been averted.

Governor Ortom reiterated his call for the resignation or sack of the Inspector General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, for his unprofessional conduct of taking sides with the invaders and lack of capacity to stop the killings.

According to the Governor, the sacking of communities and killings had continued after the burial of the 73 victims adding that several security operatives had been killed and their rifles taken by the Fulani herdsmen.

He said herdsmen attacks had become an enormous national problem which patriots across the country must rise up to tackle decisively.

The Governor commended the people of the South-South for rallying support for the state in its time of need more than any part of the country and prayed that God would reward them.

Earlier, Archbishop Avwomakpa called on President Muhammadu Buhari to defend the people of the state as Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of the country.

He said the delegation visited to get first-hand information so as to know how to cry to fellow Christians in other parts of the world to come to the aid of fellow Christians in Benue State.

The delegation had also visited and donated relief items to some of those displaced by the crisis in one of the seven camps.

  • YOWICAN disputed presidential election tears CAN apart

YOWICAN disputed presidential election tears CAN apart

The past few weeks have been quite stormy for leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN) following emerging developments over the disputed election of the youth wing of the body, reports Sunday Oguntola

Top officials of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) are at loggerheads over the leadership crisis rocking the youth wing of the body (YOWICAN).

The leadership crisis, which started as far back as January 2015, escalated last month with the election of a new executive council without the consent and handover of the outgoing executives.

YOWICAN’s outgoing president, Engr. Dan Kazai, faulted the election on the ground that his tenure was still running. According to him, since he was inaugurated on November 2015, his three-year tenure should end by November 2018.

Kazai told our correspondent last week the election that produced Apostle Nyeneime Andy of the Christian Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria/Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (CPFN/PFN) bloc is an illegality that will not stand.

He declared himself the substantive YOWICAN president, saying he couldn’t have been succeeded since he did not hand over. Kazai said: “I am still in office because I have not handed over. I still run my office and nobody has been using it but me. I still have my signatory on all the official documents.”

The election, according to the Adamawa-born Kazai, is null and void because he applied for an injunction restraining CAN from conducting the exercise from an Abuja High Court.

The original summons, the YOWICAN helmsman said was signed for by National Secretary of CAN, Rev Musa Asake as well as the National Director of Education, Women and Youth Development, Elder Biodun Sanyaolu.

“They should be aware that as long as there is a case in court, all actions must be suspended until it is dispensed it. It is sad to note that CAN officials who should mirror justice and fairness can sign for a court document and still go ahead with the exercise in defiance,” Kazai stated.

He alleged certain forces in the apex Christian body are bent on imposing people they can use for their clandestine plans ahead of the 2019 general elections.

“They want to get me out of the way for someone they can use. They want to use CAN structure to make money from politicians next year,” he alleged.

But Andy told our correspondents Kazai is fighting a lost battle for himself. “The truth is he is alone. He is the only one that has refused to hand over. His secretary and assistant have handed over, including others.

“They even took us to the CAN President on Wednesday for introduction as the new YOWICAN executives. So, he is on his own and fighting for himself. Others have officially handed over to us.

“I have my office and so do other executives. The same Kazai has a history of leaving every post he held with rancor. He did the same when he was YOWICAN chairman in Nasarawa,” Andy stated.

    A festering wound

Checks by our correspondent revealed the troubles with YOWICAN started in 2014 when national election was called for. Barrister Samuel Kwamkur, the leading presidential candidate, was coasting home but forces within his ECWA/TEKAN bloc denied him nomination.

On Election Day, ECWA/TEKAN delegates met and decided to nominate Kazai to represent the bloc. Kwamkur, who had the backings of many outside his bloc, realised he had failed a basic requirement to stand for election: bloc nomination.

Kazai was massively voted but Kwamkur, a lawyer, headed to court, a development that embarrassed the CAN leadership and forced many peace meetings.

At the end of the interventions, an out-of-court settlement was arrived at, an arrangement that leapfrogged Kwamkur to his current office as National Legal Adviser.

Kazai was eventually sworn in on November 11, 2015, few months after the other executive members have started operations in January. It is on the basis of the inauguration date that he is contesting the length of his tenure, arguing it has been cut short by almost 11 months.

Investigations revealed his fate was sealed at the last National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of CAN in Abuja where the National Director of Education, Women and Youth Development, Elder Biodun Sanyaolu, presented a memo that was accepted by the house.

The memo, insiders confided, requested for a go-ahead for the exercise after the adoption of the 37-year-old limit for candidates.

Kazai, it was learnt, avoided the meeting knowing he would have no influence whatsoever in the final decision.

Penultimate Wednesday, Sanyaolu followed up with a private memo to CAN President, His Eminence Rev Dr Supo Ayokunle.

The memo, obtained by our correspondent, reads: “Your Eminence Sir,

“I humbly wish to inform you of the following as regards the coming YOWICAN election:

“a. This afternoon, we received a notice of originating summons filed by Dan Kazai whereby he has applied for an injunction to restrain CAN from conducting the election of Saturday 27th January. The case is to be heard on Tue 31st January at the High court in Abuja. No injunction order yet pls.

“b. We have completed the screening of the candidates. Out of the three candidates for the Chairmanship, the one nominated by CPFN/PFN has been disqualified on the ground that he’s 8months above 37years which is the age limit as approved by NEC.

“c. Following the publication of Guardian of 24th January, page 6 wherein, Dan Kazai claimed that the leadership of CAN has been given 5bn and has adopted PMB for a 2nd term, and that he’s the only one that opposed the adoption; a reason why we want to conduct election 10months into the end of his tenure, in order to punish him. I met with Senator Phillip from Nasarawa to explain the whole story and to debunk the falsehood.

“After due consultation with the Director Legal, we are informing you of our decision to conduct the election as approved by NEC.

Many thanks for your support sir.”

    Brewing troubles

Andy’s initial suspension was upturned by the screening committee, much to the annoyance of Sanyaolu, findings revealed.

Also, NEC was alleged to have accepted the proposal by Sanyaolu that YOWICAN presidency should be based on rotation to mitigate disputes.

The Organisation of African Instituted Church (OAIC) and Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN) were the only two blocs yet to have a shot at the youth presidency.

But this too was ditched few hours to the election. Realising two vital components of his memo had been tampered with, a visibly angry left Abuja on the morning of the election for his base in Lagos.

He was reported to have told people he would have nothing to do with the election, claiming some forces were out to manipulate the process.

Without the National Director constitutionally empowered to conduct the election, the lot fell on Committee members of the Directorate to take over.

Two out of the five-man committee, it was gathered, decided the election would go. They carried out the exercise that produced a winner with Andy scoring over 50 votes.

Sanyaolu, it was learnt, resigned his appointment as National Director last week deeply touched by the sudden changes without his inputs in the exercise.

A competent source told our correspondent Sanyaolu presented his letter to Ayokunle in Lagos during a parley with OAIC National leaders.

Pleas by Ayokunle on him to consider the backlashes of such move did not yield efforts. Sanyaolu told our correspondent last Friday that he refused to conduct the election because the guideline stating contestants must be 37 years was not followed religiously.

“I am a sticker for rules and democrat. The rule says a contestant must be 37 but the disqualified candidate was 37 years and eight months. In that circumstance, he shouldn’t have been in the race.”

He however said he would present Andy as winner of the election to the NEC meeting this week in Abuja. “I have nothing against him. I will present him to NEC. If they say 37 is the same as being 37 and eight months, that’s fine by me.”

Sanyaolu confirmed his resignation was upturned by the OAIC bloc that elected him for the directorate, stating that he had no choice than to follow the dictates of his bloc.

    Echoes of discord

Aside from the resignation of Sanyaolu, checks revealed the disputed YOWICAN presidential election has further deepened the crisis of confidence in the umbrella Christian body.

National Secretary of the body, Rev Musa Asake, told our correspondent that he wouldn’t be able to say much because he has been sidelined in the affairs of the organisation.

“I don’t get to know much of what happens these days again in CAN. I have been here since 2012 but since the new leadership came on board, it has been more or less a one-man show.

“Nobody told me what happened during the election officially because the Director said he wouldn’t report to me. They all report directly to the President, even when the constitution says it has to be to the National Secretary.

“So, I am just here more or less a ceremonial secretary because I don’t know much of what happens at the secretariat again,” he stressed.

The Vice President of CAN, Elder Professor Joseph Otubu, in a memo to some selected church leaders, also alleged imposition of candidates in the just-concluded exercise, describing it unconstitutional.

In the memo, Otubu said: “I want to draw your attention to a just concluded youth election for the position of Chairman of YOWICAN.

‘The candidate of PFN for the election was disqualified on the basis of age limit but Rev Onifade (Senior Special Assistant to CAN President on Ecumenism) insisted that the candidate must be allowed to run for the election.

“In reaction to Onifade’s insistence, Elder Sanyolu who is the Director of Youth in CAN resigned his position and did not take part in the election.

“The duo of Ayokunle/ Onifade allowed the election to take place and the candidate from PFN emerged as winner of this unconstitutional election.

“My concern is why a young man will spend so much money to render service as Chairman of YOWICAN? When did money become the most important thing to church leaders?

“As it stands now Christians have been brought to believe that CAN elections are heavily monetised and whoever has a very deep pocket can emerge winner. I can longer see the difference between the behaviour of politicians and Christian leaders in CAN.

“When we talk of CAN leaders today, Onifade literally runs CAN with the Confidential Secretary (Mrs. Eunice Araoye). How can a Confidential Secretary that was appropriated by Rev Ayokunle literally take on the position of a General Secretary?

“So when we refer to CAN leadership as it stands today, it is Ayokunle, Onifade, the Treasurer and the confidential secretary.”

When contacted, Senior Special Assistant on Media to Ayokunle, Rev Bayo Oladeji, denied all the allegations against the CAN President, saying they were handiworks of disgruntled elements afraid of the reforms being carried out by the number one Christian citizen.

“He has nothing to do with the election. He was not even in the country when the exercise took place.

“As a democrat, he allowed the Director to present his memo to NEC, which was exhaustively deliberated. He merely allowed what NEC decided to take effect.

“He has no interest in who becomes YOWICAN President because he has more serious issues to attend to,” he stated.

Nigeria passing through turbulent time, says CAN

President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Dr Supo Ayokunle, yesterday said the killings and bloodshed across the country is without comparison in Nigeria’s history.

The CAN leader, who is also the President of Nigerian Baptist Convention, spoke in Sagamu, Ogun State, in  his sermon at the 13th annual New Year Thanksgiving and Memorial service organised by former Ogun State Governor Gbenga Daniel.

He advised Nigerians to desist from politicising the killings and urged them to close ranks and prevail on President Muhammadu Buhari and his administration to take decisive steps to arrest the situation.

The service, which took place at Abraham’s Tabernacle, Sagamu, was attended by prominent traditional rulers, eminent personalities and  political bigwigs.

Ayokunle lamented the almost routine clashes between herdsmen and farmers in some parts of the country, saying without peace, the nation would not experience genuine progress and development.

Ayokunle said: “Things are not working in the best way we have thought of. This is a very difficult time in the history of Nigeria, especially the continuous bloodshed. Communities decimated and human beings killed like chickens.

“The way it is happening now, it has almost not happened before. It is so barbaric, so unbelievable that in a nation with government, things like that will continue to happen with reckless abandon. It is so unacceptable.

“We have been speaking about it. It is not a matter of politics, you don’t play politics with the lives of human beings. We have no other life to live. So, all of you (Nigerians) have to be praying that our government is going to do the best and what is right so that this nation can experience peace because without peace, there won’t be progress.”

He urged politicians to respect and heed the admonition of the clerics.

He said: “We are the conscience of the nation. Politicians need to humble themselves when we speak to them. It is because we look for the good of this nation. Not everything we say to you, you will want to hear. Not everything will be palatable but we are responsible to God and to all these people, we are accountable.

“The life of every individual is very important. And God has created each person to live his life to His glory. Nobody can give life and nobody has the right to take it. Therefore, beloved people of God, let us say no to the evil in our midst. It is not a matter of politics. It is happening to some people now, who knows the next person? I pray that evil will not swallow us up.”

Ayokunle, who revealed that yesterday (Sunday) marked the end of the one-week national prayer declared by CAN, appealed to Christians to donate  to the association’s relief fund for victims of ethno-religious crises.

In his remarks, Daniel said his experience during the campaign for national chairmanship of the  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had further opened his eyes to different perspectives of the challenges confronting the country.

He, however, pointed out that Nigerians must have the spirit of thanksgiving irrespective of the prevailing challenges.

In Abuja, the President of the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), Apostle Nyeneime Andy urged the President  to end killings by herdsmen in some states.

Nyeneime gave the advice in his address after he was elected.

CAN blasts JNI, Garba Shehu for ‘justifying ungodly killings by herdsmen’

THE Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN)  yesterday  accused the  Jama’atu Nasril Islam, (JNI) and the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, Mallam Garba Shehu, of  attempting to “justify the ungodly killings by herdsmen” across the country.

Secretary-General of CAN, the Reverend  Musa Asake, said in Abuja that statements and actions of JNI leaders and Shehu gave them out as  protecting the killer herdsmen and attempting to defend the indefensible.

The  JNI had accused CAN of unnecessarily over heating the polity “through provocative and blatant misinformation,”  while Shehu asked  Asake to focus on his religious calling and stay out of political matters after CAN criticized the federal government over its handling of the killings by herdsmen.

To JNI, Asake said: that “Instead of facing the reality and admit its ungodly complicity with the Fulani terrorists, the JNI leadership at its press conference held in Kaduna on Sunday January 21, 2018, embarked upon character assassination, acrimony, vulgar abuse in their futile attempt to justify their ungodly, unpatriotic and wicked support for the murderous Fulani herdsmen who are also enjoying the complicity of the security agencies whose headships are occupied by the JNI’s cronies at the expense of the unity and progress of our dear country, Nigeria.

“It is an open secret that the criminal activities of their boys have gone to the extreme because of the tacit encouragement they are getting from the leadership of the JNI, the way and manner they did for the Boko Haram terrorists when they began thinking they were spreading Islam in the country.

“There was never a time the JNI has come out publicly to condemn the criminal activities of the Fulani herdsmen since they have begun killing and maiming the innocent all because most of their activities were targeted at Christians in the Northcentral, Enugu, Ondo, Ekiti and a host of others.

“If otherwise, how come that it was the Press Conference addressed by CAN that forced the JNI to break its ungodly silence over the evil in the land, that is being perpetrated by the people they not only know too well but they have been protecting, for religious and tribal sentiments, which literally tied the hands of the security chiefs who also share same sentiments.

“May we suggest to his Eminence, the President of Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs, to reach into the community of educated Muslims and find serious minded individuals that could engage in serious national issues to speak for JNI.”

On Shehu, the CAN scribe said: “Unfortunately for him, in his bid to defend President Muhammadu Buhari, whose government’s record for nepotism, favoritism and discrimination is second to none, Shehu goofed.

“For obvious reasons, it seems to me that Garba Shehu is ignorant of the function of the Church to the society. As a Servant of God and a Minister of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, I have a divine mandate to be a voice to the voiceless, to condemn the evil in the land and to praise or criticize the government as the need arises.”

    •‘President hasn’t violated constitution’

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) yesterday accused President Muhammadu Buhari of failing to protect Nigerians as enshrined in the constitution.

Reacting to the Benue killings and insecurity in the country at a news conference in Abuja, its

General Secretary Rev Musa Asake said: “President Buhari was elected on a wave of unprecedented public approval in 2015. Unfortunately, within a few weeks of his election, he started creating the impression that he was in power to serve the interests of his Fulani ethnic group only. Discerning people were quick to note that contrary to his electoral promises, he actually meant to pursue core Islamist agenda. Almost every vital appointment in Security and Education went to Muslims from the North. He did not hide his disdain for the indigenous ethnic nationalities and, at every opportunity, showed preferential treatment to the Muslim North.”

But the Presidency discountenanced the claim that the President violated the constitution.

Presidential spokesman Garba Shehu in a statement said “Our attention has been drawn to reports of a press conference by General Secretary of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Dr. Musa Asake in which he passed a judgement on the constitutionality of certain actions of the Muhammadu Buhari administration.

“Unfortunately, he could not cite any valid cases of constitutional violations. President Muhammadu government poses no threat to the country’s democracy and Constitution.

“There are no cases of any violation of our sacred constitution and there will be none under this President.

The respected religious leader should stick to his religious duties and leave politics for politicians.”

Asake said the government had not been able to come up with an efficient and enduring system that could overwhelm the resurgence of Boko Haram, gunmen and Fulani herdsmen “who are prowling villages, shooting and killing innocent Christians. Instead the IG whenever there is killings going on his men on ground in that particular area will be looking the other way and if asked they will say they are waiting for order from above. The IG will always take sides and make statements that are provocative to the people of the affected area.”

CAN alleges that “Under President Buhari, the murderous Fulani herdsmen enjoyed unprecedented protection and favoritism to the extent that the herdsmen treat Nigeria as a conquered territory. Rather than arrest and prosecute the Fulani herdsmen, security forces usually manned by Muslims from the North offer them protection as they unleash terror with impunity on the Nigerian people. It is clear to the discerning that President Buhari is not running Nigeria according to the dictates of the Democratic values in the Constitution and has no respect for Human Rights, Rule of Law and Democracy. It is unfortunate that a President that was sworn into office to uphold and defend the Constitution has flagrantly violated the Constitution and adopted Sharia ideology as operational standard.

Presidency replies CAN, says Buhari poses no threat to democracy

The Presidency has condemned a statement credited to General Secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Dr Musa Asake, where he described President Muhammadu Buhari as a threat to the nation’s democracy and constitution.

A statement issued by Malam Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, in Abuja on Tuesday night said it was totally wrong for Asake to pass judgment on decision or actions of the Buhari led administration.

According to Shehu, the CAN Scribe who made his allegations during a news conference he addressed failed to provide valid evidence to justify his claims of constitutional violations

The statement read: “Our attention has been drawn to reports of a news conference by General Secretary of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Dr Musa Asake in which he passed a judgment on the constitutionality of certain actions of the Muhammadu Buhari administration.

“Unfortunately, he could not cite any valid cases of constitutional violations. President Muhammadu’s government poses no threat to the country’s democracy and Constitution.

“There are no cases of any violation of our sacred constitution and there will be none under this President.’’

The presidential aide advised Asake to always shun acts capable of creating socio-political unrest, and stick to his religious duties.

“The respected religious leader should stick to his religious duties and leave politics for politicians.’’(NAN)
