‘Angry’ Neymar Writes PSG: Sell Cavani Now or I’ll…

The last may have not been heard about the clash between Neyamr and Edinson Cavani over who takes the penalty and free-kick at PSG.

The battle lingers as Neymar has written to PSG’s team of Directors demanding that PSG sell team-mate and forward partner Edinson Cavani.

As reported by a Spanish Sport publication on Tuesday, the Brazilian made his feelings abundantly clear to those in charge of the club.

Neymar reported that his  relationship with the Uruguayan has become ‘impossible’ following their penalty dispute and dressing-room bust-up in the aftermath of the 2-0 victory against Lyon on Sunday.

‘Neymar has already communicated to Nasser Al-Khelaifi that his coexistence with Cavani is totally impossible and he has asked for the transfer of the Uruguayan striker,’ the Spanish publication quoted

With the development, the PSG owner will now have a decision to make to smooth the duo relationship or go with the demand of the world-record signing sell Cavani who is one of the club’s established stars.

Recall that Cavani was adamant to take the penalty which he subsequently missed against Lyon but Neymar was visibly annoyed as his team-mate refused to cede his spot kick duties.

The duo continued to lock horns after the final whistle and had to be separated by team-mates in the dressing room as the row continued.

Many believe part of Neymar’s motivation in moving to the French capital was to become the main man having lived in the shadow of Lionel Messi in Barcelona.

And given that the club forked out £198m for the 25-year-old, he evidently feels he should be treated as the primary attacking weapon.

But Cavani has established himself as a fan favourite for Unai Emery’s side having spent four years with them, joining from Napoli in 2013.

Whether the club appease their new superstar with the sale of Cavani in the next transfer window or attempt to find an amicable solution remains to be seen.

Cavani wins best player award; Monaco scoops the rest

Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani was voted the French player of the season after a career-best 35 league goals.

Cavani thrived in his favored center forward role after Zlatan Ibrahimovic left for Manchester United. Cavani, a 30-year-old Uruguayan, can match Ibrahimovic’s league tally of 38 from last year if he gets a hat trick at home against Caen on Saturday.

Monaco swept the other awards on Monday, with Leonardo Jardim named best coach, teen forward Kylian Mbappe voted the best young player, and Croatia’s Danijel Subasic best goalkeeper.

Jardim won his award ahead of Nice coach Lucien Favre, Paris Saint-Germain’s Unai Emery and Bordeaux’s Jocelyn Gourvennec.

Monaco all but sealed the French title after beating Lille 4-0 on Sunday to move three points ahead of defending champion PSG with a game in hand and a vastly superior goal difference. Monaco needs a draw against Saint-Etienne on Wednesday to guarantee its first title since 2000.

Jardim guided Monaco to the Champions League semifinals and reached the League Cup final and French Cup semifinals. His team has 102 league goals — matching PSG’s tally from last season — and 153 in all competitions.

The 18-year-old Mbappe emerged as one of the hottest properties in European football, scoring 25 goals in all competitions.

He is the youngest to reach 15 league goals in Europe’s top five leagues since former Golden Ball winner Michael Owen for Liverpool in 1998, and the first player to score in each of the first four Champions League knockout rounds he played in.

For good measure, Mbappe also got into the France team.

Monaco also had six players in the team of the season: Subasic; right back Djibril Sidibe; center half Kamil Glik; left back Benjamin Mendy; attacking midfielder Bernardo Silva, and Mbappe.

Also, Chelsea defensive midfielder N’Golo Kante won best French player in a foreign league.

Kante was voted player of the year by his fellow professionals in England, and the 2017 footballer of the year by soccer writers there.

New china Football rules knock off Costa deal

New China football Association rules which  insists not more than three foreign players can be on the pitch at the same time and that only one can start a match has forced Chinese league side Tianjin Quanjian owner Shu Yuhui to make a U-turn over Diego Costa deal.

Shu Yuhui who revealed that he had planned an operation sweep that would have seen Karim Benzema, Edinson Cavani and Radamel Falcao

join his club, said in view of the new development the club may not proceed with the Costa chase, noting that even if they were to continue he will not be available for move till June, three months into the new season, describing it as a long time.

“PSG have told us Cavani would only be allowed to leave in June, even though the player himself was willing to join us. The same can be said for Costa because Chelsea also only let him leave in June. However, the new season of CSL will almost reach the halfway stage in June, we can’t wait so long, “he regretted even as he lamented the effect of the new rules on the club’s original projection for the new season.

While the arrivals of Costa and Co. appear unlikely, Fiorentina star Nikola Kalinic is nearing a move to Haihe Educational Football Stadium in Tianjin.

“We are currently discussing whether to hold onto [former Brazil international] Luis Fabiano,” Shu said. “But Cannavaro told us he preferred Kalinic who would perfectly fit into the team’s style of play.”

Tianjin are set to play in China’s top flight in 2017 after Cannavaro guided the club to promotion last season.

  • Cavani to decide future in July, says Napoli president De Laurentiis

The Partenopei owner believes the future of their star striker will be decided when the 26-year-old comes back from the Confederations Cup for pre-season on July 20th

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis says Edinson Cavani will decide where he will be playing next season at the end of July, when the Uruguayan returns for pre-season.

Cavani has been heavily linked to Chelsea, Real Madrid, and previously Manchester City, before their initial proposed player-plus-cash deal involving Edin Dzeko stalled, as Goal revealed.

The Uruguay international has scored over 100 goals for Napoli in his three seasons at the club, and De Laurentiis is confident Cavani will not leave after the clause in his contract runs out.

“I don’t think Cavani will leave on 10th August, when his buyout clause expires,” De Laurentiis told Radio Rai.

“I’m confident in him, because I consider him a real man. He won’t make me a joke of me.

“Should Cavani want to leave, he will decide it after a long period of reflection. But by 20th July we will probably know everything about his future.”

Cavani joined Napoli from Palermo in 2010 for €12 million, and has played 52 games for his country, scoring 14 goals.
