“It is a year of rebirth and restoration of new spiritual power. To us in the church, it is the end of the Israelites’ 40 years of wandering in the wilderness. My joy is full today because we have special children taking over. Anything that has no youth has no future. This church was ordained by the Almighty God. What we have started today will continue until the end of the world.”

The convener, Bro. Samuel Ademola Bolaji said the musical competition was ordained by the late founder himself.

“One of Papa’s choicest passions was love for juvenile music. What we are doing today is important because we are bringing back the young ones to the culture of the music of the Celestial Church,” he said.

  • Polls: Kwara, Kano, 10 others major flash points, says CCC

The Centre for Crisis Communication on Friday identified 12 states including Kano, Kwara, Kogi, Kaduna and Imo as major flashpoints during the Presidential and National Assembly elections on Saturday.

The CCC whose findings are usually based on credible intelligence from military and security agencies stated this in its mid-February collation and dissemination of data on crisis situation across the country.

Other states in this category included Adamawa, Taraba, Lagos, Ogun, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Anambra, said the group’s Executive Secretary Air Commodore Yusuf Anas (rtd).

These disclosures which were made at Forum of Spokespersons of Security and Response Agencies (FOSSRA) in Abuja was confirmed to The Nation by Anas, a former spokesman for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).

He said the possible flash points were arrived at after a review of recent incidents and violent activities in some of the states.

“We strongly recommend that adequate security arrangements should be made to ensure that the elections are not disrupted in some of the states we have identified.

“We identified these states and grouped them according to geopolitical zones. In the north, Kano and Kaduna are major flashpoints. We have Kwara and Kogi in North Central; Adamawa and Taraba in Northeast.

“In the south, we identified Lagos and Ogun for southwest, Rivers and Akwa Ibom south-south and Imo and Anambra States for southeast.

“We appeal to politicians and community leaders to advise their subjects against involvement in any activity capable of inciting violence that could have negative effects on the electoral processes.

“We also urge all security agencies deployed for elections to be proactive and conduct themselves professionally by carrying out their duties with absolute neutrality, devoid of bias, while the media and Civil Society Organizations should continue to monitor and keep Nigerians abreast before, during and after the elections,” said Anas.

According to him, the centre gathers, collates, processes, harmonises and disseminates information on potential crisis situation in the country.

“It has been providing credible and professional crisis information and early warning alerts to strategic institutions with the view of taking appropriate measure towards ensuring adequate security as well as promoting peaceful coexistence in the country.

  • ‘How CCC can regain lost glories’

Patron of Celestial Church of God (CCC) Oko-Oba Parish 111 Lagos, Venerable Most Senior Evangelist Gabriel Ojediran, has advised authorities of the church to focus construction of modern facilities.

This, he said, will make the church regain its lost glory.

He spoke against the backdrop of the 70th anniversary of the church.

Ojediran also appealed to the church to return to the original tenets passed on by its founder, Samuel Oschoffa.

Ojediran, one of the faithful followers of Celestial Church, also called on youth to walk in the direction of the founder.

He said:  “In the past, Celestial was a deliverance home of the country. The church has raised a lot of people by its gospel but it seems those things are not existing again and that’s more reason we have to look back and follow the right path and get things done properly.

“Firstly, we have to live in harmony, united and love each other like Papa used to say.

Ojediran added: “We need to orientate our youth spiritually and keep our focus on how to build human facilities across the globe.”

“The anniversary is not to blame anybody for the wrong doing of the past but an opportunity to review our work and make proper amendment where it necessary.”

On insinuations the late Oshcoffa had no shoe size, Ojediran said it was untrue.

As a living witness, he said Oshcoffa had shoe sizes, saying members do not put on shoes because of a clear, spiritual mandate.

According to him: “It was not because he had shoeless legs. I once asked him that question when I had that opportunity to meet him during his life times and Papa told me with good illustration of his leg to show us that he has legs fit for shoes.

“That day I was able to touch and felt his leg and he told us that day that we should let the world know about the truth he had said about his legs.”

‘What Boko Haram leaders told CCC on Chibok girls’

The Executive Secretary of the Centre for Crisis Communication (CCC), Air Commodore Yusuf Anas (rtd), on Wednesday said some Boko Haram leaders offered to negotiate for ceasefire because they are tired of fighting.

He said both the Federal Government and the insurgents should adopt an open mind to the ongoing talks for negotiation.

He, however, commended President Muhammadu Buhari for expressing the government’s willingness to dialogue with the sect.

Anas made the clarification in Abuja while speaking on the dialogue being facilitated by the CCC between the government and the insurgents on how to free the 219 abducted Chibok girls.

He said Boko Haram neither asked for monetary inducement nor compensation during preliminary talks for dialogue.

[ad id=”403656″]He said: “We want to note that none of the suspected Boko Haram elements that spoke with the CCC asked for any form of monetary inducement or compensation as a pre-condition for laying down their arms.

“In fact, many of them said that they were simply tired of fighting and being fugitives in a war that they were deceived into joining.

“Nevertheless, the Centre will continue to support and encourage all efforts towards bringing insurgency to an end in our country.”

Anas, who praised President Buhari’s decision to go into dialogue with genuine leaders of the sect, said there is nothing wrong in exploring any possibility of securing freedom for the girls.
