Ezeugo: Oliseh failed at CHAN 2016

Former international,  Emeka Ezeugo has dismissed all the excuses made by Super Eagles coach,  Sunday Oliseh by maintaining that failure remains failure.

The Super Eagles head Coach had highlighted several issues that mitigated against his team’s progress at the CHAN 2016. Oliseh told footballlive.ng that his players endured tough times off the pitch citing the lack of motivation as a major clog.

Ezeugo insisted that a proper post-mortem of the Rwanda 2016 CHAN debacle otherwise other teams would use the ‘details and problems of the poor outing to hurt Nigeria.’

CHAN 2016: Niger’s win will spur Eagles against Tunisia – Amoo

Coach Fatai Amoo is excited about the display of the Eagles against Niger at the ongoing CHAN 2016 in Rwanda and the assistant coach of the Olympics team believes the victory against the noisy neighbor would spur the team against Tunisia on Friday.

Specifically, Amoo said that the performance of the players would surely bring a lot of competition into the main Super Eagles team.

“I think the victory against Niger is a good start to the team and I believe this will help their confidence in their next group match against Tunisia. We cannot judge the Tunisians based on their 2-2 draw against Guinea because every match is not the same. I am sure that our players will curtail the Tunisia but we must be cautious of the style of the North Africans because they are good in counter attack. The Tunisians are also aware that if they lose against Nigeria, they might be on their way home, so we should not be carried away by the win against Niger but take each game serious and I am sure with the quality of the technical crew, the team is destine to qualify from the group,” the erstwhile 3SC gaffer said.

He however said that the performance of some of the players would give the Eagles’ coach the opportunity to select some of them for the main team. “I am sure that some of them will surely play their way into the main team and this is good for the Eagles because it will give us the opportunity to have a solid bench and encourage healthy competition in the team. I am aware of the quality of the home-based Eagles and I know that if they are given the chance, they will shine and command shirts in the main team.”

CHAN 2016:Oliseh to decide Eagles training camp

Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh will choose the training camp for the home-based Eagles in preparation for the 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Rwanda.

The Super Eagles were held Burkina Faso to a goalless draw in Ouagadougou on Sunday evening to reach the final of the championship courtesy of a 2-0 aggregate score.

Oliseh missed the second leg encounter in Burkina Faso due to illness, but watched the first leg in Port-Harcourt, which they won 2-0.

The Super Eagles assistant coaches, Salisu Yusuf and Jean Francois Losciuto, took charge of the team against Burkina Faso on Sunday.

The former national team captain was flown to Belgium for medical treatment, after he took ill in camp during preparations for last Sunday’s CHAN qualifier away to Burkina Faso. He has consequently been placed on bed rest on the advice of his personal physician after undergoing series of tests at the Mediapark Klinic, Cologne, in Germany.

A close source told SportingLife that Oliseh, who has been placed on a compulsory two-week rest, would be given the chance to pick a suitable place for the team’s camp.

“He is the head coach and he knows what he wants for the team. We wish him well. As soon as he comes back he will furnish NFF with his programs for the championship. We want better preparations for the team and we believe we can win it this time,” the source said.

Nigeria have now joined hosts Rwanda, Morocco, Tunisia, Mali, Guinea, Niger, Gabon, DR Congo, Uganda, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Angola that have already qualified for the tournament.

The 2016 CHAN will take place from January 16 to February 7, 2016.
