A major tragedy was averted on Friday evening when a chemical-induced fire erupted at 291 Old Abeokuta Motor Road, opposite Vetland Secondary School in Agege, Lagos.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service responded swiftly to the incident, reported at 6:38 p.m., rescuing a woman who sustained first-degree burns.
She was evacuated from the scene and is currently receiving medical care, with reports indicating she is responding well to treatment.
The fire was triggered by the explosion of several containers of unidentified chemicals stored in an open, fenced area.

Officials said that prolonged exposure to intense sunlight caused the explosion.
Firefighters from the Agege Fire and Rescue team quickly extinguished the blaze, preventing further damage or loss of life.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has launched an investigation to identify the chemicals involved and their ownership.
It reiterated warnings about the improper storage of hazardous materials, especially in unprotected environments exposed to direct sunlight.
