    Chibuike thrilled to stop Raheem Lawal

    Nigerian midfielder John Chibuike was thrilled to score in Gaziantepspor’s 2-1 win over hosts Eskisehispor, who paraded compatriot Raheem Lawal.

    Gaziantepspor are ninth on the league table with 19 points from 15 games, while Eskisehispor are bottom on seven points.

    The former Rosenborg of Sweden player scored the opening goal of the game in the 14th minute for his second goal in the league this season.

    Chibuike said he is excited with his contribution to the victory in the game he described as tough.

    “I feel so good to score a goal in the game against Eskisehirspor, getting the three points was great because that’s the most important thing for us. It was not an easy game, we fought hard to get the three points,” he said.

    He lasted 86 minutes before he gave way to Abdulkadir Kayali, while Gbenga Arokoyo played the full game. Raheem Lawal played the full game for Eskisehirspor.

    Gaziantepspor midfielder John Chibuike is looking forward to the start of the new season and has vowed to assist his club remain in the Turkish Super Lig when the games are concluded in May 2016.

    To a large extent, the 26-year-old impressed in his debut season for Gaziantepspor, scoring six goals in 27 appearances in the top flight, after transferring from Rosenborg in Norway.

    ”The pre-season has been going on so well, I am just looking forward for the season to start,” said John Chibuike to news24.

    ”My target is to help Gaziantepspor to stay in the league for next season because it is not going to be so easy. In Turkey now they have a lot of good players in the Super Lig.”

    Last season, The Falcons, who also have out-of-favour Nigeria’s Gbenga Arokoyo in their ranks, finished 10th in the Super Lig.Chibuike penned a four-year deal with Gaziantepspor last summer.

    Former Rosenborg of  Norway forward John Chibuike, inspired his side to a 2-0 victory over Trabzonspor by scoring the first goal.

    The 26-year-old Nigerian scored after 34 minutes to give his side the lead before an own goal by Hakan Arikan sealed all three points for Gaziantepspor.

    The goal was his fourth of the season but his first in 2015 in his first season in Turkey, after playing in Sweden and Norway.

    While Chibuike was on for the entire duration of the game his Nigerian compatriot at the team, former Under-20 defender Gbenga Arokoyo was an unused substitute in the game.

    Arokoyo has made 14 appearances while Chibuike has 19 till date.

    Nigeria’s John Chibuike has fallen out with Norwegian giants, Rosenborg BK after the former Enugu Rangers ace refused to play a match preferring to go the way of Carlos Tevez (who refused to jump in for Manchester City against Bayern Munich last season).

    Reacting on the behaviour of their Nigerian import that joined Rosenborg BK in the summer of 2011 after three successful seasons in the Norway’s topflight, Head Coach of the side, Per Joar Hansen disclosed that Chibuike has also received a written warning for his action.

    “He made a Carlos Tévez (who refused to jump in for Manchester City against Bayern Munich). It is totally unacceptable. I immediately gave notice that there would be consequences,” said Hansen while noting that the club have sent a warning letter to the midfielder to explain the situation.

    In his response to the query, Chibuike stressed that life on the subs bench was pitiful.

    “I had warmed up several times during the match, and I was hoping to play more than a few minutes. I was frustrated by sitting on the bench, so coach told me to warm up with a few minutes left of the game, I said please no,” the 24-year-old was quoted as saying by Norway’s VG newspaper.

    Meanwhile, Rosenborg BK coach, Hansen says that the meeting with Chibuike after the game was positive.

    John Chibuike says he has remained confident in helping his club beat Molde for the Norwegian league title as Rosenborg move to second place on the table with just two points differencein their positions.

    Chibuike who has been given the greenlight by Super Eagles Stephen Keshi, believes that the Rosenborg team are good for the title and ready to declare war against their leader to claim the league.

    “I respect Molde a lot, they have shown technicality this season but we won’t fold our hands for the title,” said Chibuike.

    “On paper, they are considered the favourites, but we are also a good side and good enough for the title. Our last game gave us more confident ahead of Molde’s clash for the title.”

    “I was not part of the Rosenborg team that won it two seasons ago and I want to win it with them now. I am back to my best, I am ready to give it all both in terms of assist and goal scoring.”

    “Of course, we are still on course in Europa Cup, we lost to Bayern Leverkusen, a painful one but I enjoyed myself and it gives me another exposure for the next game.”

    “As a matter of fact, I am looking forward to victorious season here in Norway and I believe the dream will come.” I am eager to prove than I am doing and I can tell the world excited I am to hit the top gong.”
