Adesope lauds Tinubu for honouring Fasehun

Leader of Oodua People’s Congress Reformed (OPC R), Chief Oludare Adesope,  has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for awarding the founder of the Yoruba socio-cultural group,  Late Dr. Frederick Isiotan Fasehun, the national honour of the Commander of the Niger (CON).

Adesope hailed Tinubu for extending the national honour to  nationalists like Late Dr. Fredrick Fasehun; Professor Wole Soyinka; Hon Wale Osun; Barrister Femi Falana and others.

According Adesope, the action portrays President Tinubu as a good listener and great achiever.

“If we can recall the president speech during the 2024 democracy day, while he affirmed the pioneers who went against all odds to face the military junta to give us the democracy we are enjoying presently, Dr. Fasehun’s name was omitted in the list; I do not know if it was deliberate or an oversight but I said then that the list was incomplete without Fasehun’s name on it.

“Today, I am highly delighted when the posthumous honour came on June 12,2025 to mark this year’s Democracy Day. I said it is rather late than never. I hereby congratulate the late Fasehun family, all products of OPC groups and the entire Yoruba descendants for this well-deserved honour.’’

Adesope also urged the president to put more effort into tackling insecurity and hunger in the country.

He said: ‘‘I know he is trying his best but he should pay more attention to security because the poor masses depend on the government for safety’.

“I have said time without number that we, members of OPC reformed, are very ready to work with government security agencies to tackle insecurity; we know the terrain of our territory like the back of our hand and we are very close to the people.

“As I commend the president on community policing, I will also say it is high time the government made use of indigenous security outfits to perfect the security sector.

Gani Adams’ faction has no right to organise OPC’s 30th anniversary – Adesope

Leader of Oodua People’s Congress Reformed (OPC-R), Chief Oludare Adesope on Friday said that the Gani Adam’s faction lacks the right to celebrate OPC’s 30th anniversary.

An anniversary planning committee raised by Adam’s faction headed by Professor Kolawole Raheem, had penultimate Thursday unveiled the programmes of activities lined up for the anniversary scheduled for August 29.

In a statement released in Lagos, Adesope noted that the late Dr. Frederick Fasehun was the renowned founder of the group before Adams broke away to form his faction in 1999.

Adesope urged Gani Adams to celebrate his faction’s anniversary and not the OPC as a body founded by Dr. Fasehun.

”Gani Adams has the right to celebrate the anniversary of his group or observe the date when his faction was birthed, but not OPC as a body established by Fasehun.

”’Each OPC faction has its day of existence but we are all linked to the founder and leader, Dr. Frederick Fasehun, we just have to give the honour to the man for the sacrifice he had made for the organization.”
