    Chigul, Elenu and Seyi Law join cast of Wedding Party 2 in Dubai

    New actors have joined the star-studded list of the sequel to Nigeria’s highest grossing film, The Wedding Party.

    The new additions to the Niyi Akinmolayan-directed flick include Patience Ozokwo, aka Mama G, Chigul, Elenu and Seyi Law, according to a statement by producers of the film.

    The cast have proceeded to Dubai to last where they will spend two weeks to complete shooting for The Wedding Party 2.

    The first instalment of the romantic comedy which was released in December 2016, has stars such as Alibaba, Sola Sobowale, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Ireti Doyle, Beverly Naya, Banky W, Adesua Etomi, AY Makun, Eyinna Nwigwe and Somkele Iyamah-Idhalama  among others.

    With the recent marriage of the two lead characters of the film; Banky W and Adesua Etomi who played the couple as Dozie and Dunni respectively in the movie, fans have, on social media being expressing anticipation for the sequel.

    Posters released of the coming film show Dozie and Dunni are now expecting a baby. And while Felix and Obianuju are still working on their relationship, the question is, has he given up ‘Small Chops’ for good? And will crazy best man Sola succeed in getting close to the feisty Yemisi and does Nonso go all the way with Deardre, after that surprise kiss at the end of the last movie? And, of course, there is another wedding. But whose will it be?

    According to promoters, The Wedding Party 2, which is set to complete filming by the end of this month will go into post-production in order to make the film festival season, and it will have its Lagos premiere on December 10, 2017.

    Shot in Lagos, London and Dubai, and powered by Dubai Tourism, sites such as Atlantis, Armani, Palazzo Versace and the Ghaya Grand are being featured in the movie.

    “Ever since Dubai Tourism partnered with us on the Grand Premiere of The Wedding Party, it’s been my dream to bring the sequel here,” said Mo Abudu, Executive Producer for EbonyLife Films.

    “We weren’t sure if it was going to be possible, but the amazing success of the movie made it more likely and Dubai Tourism came through for us, along with Tour Brokers International and Wontra Travel. With a great script by Naz Onuzo, an experienced director, Niyi Akinmolayan, the original cast and the beautiful sights and sounds of Dubai, we think we may have a bigger blockbuster on our hands.”

    Chigul to star in new movie, Banana Island Ghost

    Comedian Chioma Omeruah, popularly known as Chigul, will be staring in a new comedy film titled Banana Island Ghost (B.I.G), scheduled to be released later in the year.

    B.I.G, the first of five films to be co-produced by BAM and Nemsia Films, is a movie about a ghost that is scared to go to heaven because he doesn’t have a soulmate, so he convinces God to give him three days to fall in love. He is paired with the cantankerous firecracker Ijeoma, played by Chigul who will do anything to save her father’s house in Banana Island from the bank coming to reclaim it in three days.

    The movie also stars Ali Nuhu, Bimbo Manuel, Damilola Adegbite, Dorcas Fapson, Patrick Diabuah, Saheed Balogun, Tomiwa Edun and Uche Jombo.

    While BAM headed by media icon Biola Alabi produces Bukas and Joints, Nigeria’s number one food show on TV, Nemsia Films is a full service production house that has produced contents, including the acclaimed TV series, Before 30, in 2015.

    IGBO accent-styled TV host and comedienne, Chigul has said that one of the things that put her off from Nigerian men is their proud nature.

    “I don’t like men who assume because they have small money; ladies should just jump and follow… Sometimes the money is not even real, it’s in their mind…that’s very annoying,” she said.

    The OAP was speaking as guest on the popular MTV Base Real Talk, told MTV VJ, Stephanie Coker, also answered questions from fans including Udeh Chukwunonso Celestine who asked about her marital status, saying, “Are you married or when are you getting married?”. Chigul replies,’It’s complicated, let’s leave it there’ and jokingly added, ‘Nonso come o. Help yourself, Knock on my door, I will open for you’.

    Another fan asked, “What are some of the things people don’t know about you? and in response, she said, ‘A lot of people don’t know that I am a certified French teacher and speak five languages. I am also a jazz singer and can do a lot of things with my hands.”
