Daniel Chima agrees contract with Shanghai Shenxin

Daniel Chima is set to end his five-year association with Norwegian clubs after agreeing a three-year contract with Chinese Super League campaigners, Shanghai Shenxin.

For agreeing to sell the attacker 11 months before his contract was due to end, Molde’s bank account will be credited with approximately one million euros by the Chinese club.

Next week, Chima will travel to China for a routine medical before he is unveiled by Shanghai Shenxin.

”Both Molde and Shanghai Shenxin have agreed a transfer fee for Chima. He is signing a three-year deal. We are now waiting for him to be issued a visa,” says Atta Aneke, the agent of Daniel Chima, to SL10.ng.

”If you look closely at the Chinese League, more and more good players are moving to China. ”

The Norwegian-Nigerian’s agent goes on: ”Chinese clubs are picking players from Scandinavia. Financially they are better off than teams in Europe.

”The trend in Europe is that most of the interested teams fail to meet the asking price of the players, for example Aaron Samuel’s case.

”Shanghai Shenxin is a club with ambitions and I was impressed with their facilities when I travelled to China.”

Chima netted 32 goals in 107 appearances for Molde in the Tippeligaen, following his transfer from Lyn Oslo in 2010.

Daniel Chima has expressed delight after Molde clinched the Norwegian Premier League title with four games to spare, following their 2-1 win over home team Viking on Saturday in the 26th round.

The victory at the Viking Stadion (Stavanger) means Molde have opened up an unassailable 13-point lead over nearest challengers for the Tippeligaen crown, Odd Grenland, who lost ground after drawing 2-2 with Aalesund.

”This year has been my best season in Molde. I got to play a lot of games which built my self confidence in the game.

”The reason we have the title now is that we kept our focus and didn’t drop our guard for a moment. The name Molde scares most teams,” a delighted Chima told SL10.ng.

Having wrapped up the title in style, there is a possibility that the Molde number 27 will become the first foreigner to win five titles in four seasons, if the newly crowned Tippeligaen champions don’t stumble against Odd Grenland in the Cup final.

”We are aiming for the Cup title as well to win it back-to-back. I am among the four foreigners in the history of Norwegian football to win gold four times in a row.

”Winning the cup will break the record and make me and my teammate the two foreigners to win five gold in four years in Norway,” Chima concluded.

The 23-year-old joined Molde four years ago, and has played 104 games in the league (with 30 goals) since making his debut against Brann on August 1, 2010.

    Chima hopes to score more

After grabbing a brace in their cup win over Mjondalen last weekend, Nigeria and Molde of Norway striker Daniel Chima Chukwu says his target is to increase his goals tally.

Speaking to sl10.ng, Chima expressed delight at having scored two of the goals that propelled his side to the win.

“It’s always a nice feeling when you score a goal, and a better feeling when you score two, and even great when the goals helps your club get out of a difficult situation,” he said.

The 23-year old helped his club progress to the quarter finals of the Norwegian cup with a 4-1 victory over the Mjondalen club, and says he hopes to put the ball in the back of the net with more frequency between now and the end of the season.

“My scoring rate hasn’t been that good this season. My coaches have often commended my overall play and the assists I make for my teammates, but the truth is, I want to score more often.

“And the truth is, I hope to score a lot more before the end of the season. I feel I can still improve and I’m really working hard towards that,” he said to sl10.ng.

Molde sit atop the Norwegian league, and are bookmakers’ favorites to win the Tippeligaen again, having been the most impressive side in the league so far.
