    President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the founder of Christ Embassy and President of LoveWorld Incorporated, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, on the celebration of his birthday.

    The President extolled the popular televangelist for his spiritual leadership and charitable works.

    In a message yesterday in Abuja by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described Pastor Oyakhilome as “an author, televangelist, and charismatic teacher of the Word whose rare gift of insight and charity has impacted lives across nations”.

    Pastor Oyakhilome, who established Christ Embassy, one of Nigeria’s largest Christian ministries, is also author of the globally distributed daily devotional, “Rhapsody of Realities”, used by millions of readers across continents.

    According to Oyakhilome, the musicians had become too focused on worldly gain and fame, rather than serving God.

    Oyakhilome claimed that the church had lost its way, with music becoming too worldly and self-centered. 

    He stated that the musicians would lead praise and worship but would leave during prayer sessions. 

    He also alleged that they charged for their services and became more interested in making money than serving God.

    Oyakhilome said that he initially celebrated the musicians, but when he realised the direction they were heading, he tried to correct them. 

    However, they refused to change and instead chose to leave the church.

    The pastor expressed hope that the musicians would repent and return to their original purpose of serving God.

    “Why did it happen? The church was turned into a party place, not a prayer place where God’s word was truly celebrated…they were not soul winners; they led praise in church, and when it was time for prayers, they were gone.

    “The church lost its way of worship, everything changed, the music in the church became worldly, they danced for themselves, celebrated themselves not God, they charged for their singing, they became professionals making money from the church….and many pastors didn’t know that this was the world coming into the church.

    “I did at the beginning and celebrated them but when I changed, they refused to change with me, so I had to let them go; God was getting my attention and saying this is not the way. I told them the lord wanted us to do the right thing…they had become too popular and because they were making even little money….do they know what big money is? The little money they were making was too attractive to them, so they didn’t want to follow me, so they made a detour….I hope they all repent…..they are not worship leaders,” Chris Oyakhilome said

    Former President Olusegun Obasanjo believes that politics must be gotten right in Africa in order for the continent to progress at a rapid speed and meet up with countries in the western world.

    He also advocated for security of not just lives, but also jobs and their wellbeing.

    He spoke at the Believers’ Loveworld Convocation Arena in Lagos, during the 2018 Watch night service with Pastor Chris Oyakhilome.

    Obasanjo, in his address, gave five P’s which he termed as pillars of development, progress and growth for Africa.  They are politics, population, protection, prosperity and partnership.

    In his words: “We must get politics right. Democracy is not only in election, it is popular participation, and satisfying the needs of the people.

    The former president further advised Africans, and especially Nigerians to stop talking about poverty.  “When you tell people that Africa is poor, they tell you that they have heard enough of that.  But Africa is not poor, we made ourselves poor. We must stop talking about poverty.”
