Insecurity: CAC President cautions religious leaders against ‘destructive’ criticism

The President of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Pastor Samuel Oladele, has cautioned religious leaders, especially, Christian clerics against destructive criticism of the Federal and State Governments of Nigeria over the challenges of insecurity.

He also called for prayers for the nation and victims of insecurity including banditry, kidnapping and other social vices that are threatening the peace of the country.

Pastor Oladele speaking with newsmen on Saturday at the dedication and handing over service of the church building donated by an ex-aide of Adegboyega Oyetola, Prof Siji Olamiju, contended that clerics should be guided by the tenets of the Bible to proffer solutions to situations in society.

He said “As a man of God, we are to be guided by the Bible, not by criticism on social media and bloggers. The Bible remains our anchoring word, we do God’s will, there is a way you comport yourself as a minister of God, you don’t talk just anyhow but we denounce sin, unrighteousness, violence, insecurity issues and others.

“We have a duty because the Bible tells us to pray for those who are in authority, not just to criticize —pray for them, then counsel them when you can, advise them…most of the battles of life as far as we are concerned are fought and won on our knees. Not necessarily by confronting people or criticising people destructively.”

He lamented that many people are mockers who are after the downfall of others, warning Nigerians to desist from such if they desire greatness.

“We live in the days of mockers, the Bible says in the last days there will be mockers, no matter what you do, they don’t see anything good in it. We have our culture that preaches how we talk to elders and leaders. Somebody as old as your biological father, you open your mouth and talk to him anyhow, is that the way you react to your parents at home?”

He stated that apart from religion, Nigerians have a culture on how to relate with elders and leaders, saying “you must not say all our leaders are bad, we also have bad doctors, teachers which does not negate the good professionals.

“We are humans and you don’t expect perfection from us as men of God but I want to believe we have men of God in this country who are always on their knees praying to God for the sustenance of the peace of this country.”

Olamiju said he decided to build a church for God as a seed of thanksgiving for his 50th birthday and for surviving terrible health challenges which he was divinely healed from.

  • CAC decries dissolution of National Economic Advisory Committee

The leadership of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Worldwide has faulted the dissolution of the National Economic Advisory Council headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Besides, the Church kicked against the composition of the nation’s security architecture, stressing that the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria” is being obeyed in the breach”.

It called on President Muhammadu Buhari to correct the lopsidedness and also declare a state of emergency on the country’s economy.

Its President, Pastor Abraham Akinosun, who spoke last weekend while addressing over 1000 Pastors from across the country at Babalola International Miracle Centre, Ikeji Arakeji said the removal of Osinbajo from the council was not in the best interest of the nation.

The programme was to mark the 2029 CAC Annual Pastors’ Conference.

According the CAC leader: “What would have been cheery news recently was soiled by unnecessary politicking.

“The President recently appointed an Economic Advisory Council and purportedly dissolved a constitutionally established National Economic Council headed by Vice President Osinbajo.

“It is true that people have been calling for the composition of a strong economic team to manage our economy which appears to be directionless in the first term of the President.

“However, no one believes that the President would choose a team that would be unable to implement decisions reached.

“For instance there is no single government official who is directly in charge of the national economy among those appointed,” he said.

Akinosun said “to resolve this, it is my candid view that President Buhari should merge his Economic Advisory Council with the constitutionally established National Economic Council, which comprises all government officials directly involved in the economic management of the country and headed by the Vice President.”

The church leader also advised the federal government to secure all citizens irrespective of tribal, religious or political affiliation.

According to him: “The spate of security breaches all over the country has not abated.

“There is no day we don’t read stories of kidnapping, killing, robbery and other violent crimes.

“I call on the President to expedite action on the promised community policing in order to keep the country safe as economic development feeds directly on national stability and security.”

Akinosun reiterated his call for creation of employment with a view to reduce the army of jobless graduates and young people roaming the streets because of idleness.

He suggested an amnesty scheme for criminals turning Nigeria into ‘a killing field, saying “the federal government can extend open invitation to all gun-wielding criminals to surrender their arms for money to set up legitimate business.”

The CAC President believed that by so doing, the spate of killings and kidnappings across the country would be drastically reduced.

  • Abiara to Fatoyinbo: go back to God

Founder of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Agbala Itura Lagos, Prophet Samuel Abiara, has advised embattled Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) to seek the face of God for restoration.

Abiara said with the help of God, he can overcome the rape accusation against him by celebrity photographer Busola Dakolo.

He however cautioned his accusers to be wary of their utterances because God is the ultimate judge.

In a statement last week in Lagos, Abiara said Fatoyinbo will overcome if he “goes before God and iron things out. I believe God will talk to him and restore him.”

He added: “My advice to Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo is to go to the presence of God and believe this time will pass, you will overcome.”

To his accusers, Abiara said: “I want everybody to be very careful because God is the all- knowing.

“He is the true witness of what actually happened between them. The word of God says we must not judge anybody.”

The rape accusation, according to him, is a dent on the body of Christ. He however said nobody should rejoice over the development.

“This issue is not good news at all for the body of Christ. As human being, some people will be rejoicing because of this allegation.

“It is nothing to rejoice about.  Indeed it is very sad news for all true ministers of the Gospel.”

To those trouncing the church over the issue, Abiara said: “All accusers against the body of Christ and the man of God must be careful not to be judgmental. Let God himself intervene.

“All accusers and those that carry fake news on social media, you must be very careful not to cause havoc in the body of Christ and the ministry of men of God.”

He counseled members of COZA to stand by their pastor and the church at this troubled moment instead of leaving.

“This is not the time to leave the church or abandon the man of God because of the entire allegations against your pastor.

“It is time to bring to memory how his life and ministry has been a blessing to many lives.

“Though it is very cloudy and stormy, I promise that the storm will soon be over. It is good to stand by your Pastor.”

  • ‘Elites responsible for insurgency in Nigeria’

Founder of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Power of God Saves, Pastor Moses Olagunju, has accused elite of being behind the rising insurgency and terrorism in the nation.

He warned them to desist from funding and fuelling insurgency for the nation to experience peace.

Olagunju told our correspondent during the week at the church headquarters in Lagos, the continued infighting among Nigerian elite has continued to fuel all forms of civil unrest across the country.

He stated that insurgency in any part of the world cannot last this long without some elements orchestrating it.

The cleric pointed out sponsors of armed bandits were well- known to victims in affected communities.

The victims, he lamented, clearly lack the courage and wherewithal to expose the sponsors.

Olagunju alleged Boko Haram has sponsors in high places, warning the situation might turn the nation to ruins if they do not relent.

Urging Nigerians to unite for peace, he said: “Irrespective of party affiliation, tribal or religious differences, let us work together to make Nigeria great again and we will become the beloved of the world, adding that if we do not sheath our sword and seek for peace, the ongoing war and devastation in Syria, Libya, will be infinitesimal to the ruin that will happen in Nigeria.”

He added: “Nigeria is in our hands and every one of us has roles to play. The ego playing out among us because of power, money and fame will not do us any good.”

He challenged religious leaders to always speak the truth to power “because we will one day give account of their stewardship on earth.”

  • Stop complaining, pray for Buhari, CAC President tells Christians

The President, Christ Apostolic Church. ( CAC ) Worldwide, Pastor Abraham Akinosun on Saturday urged churches to stop complaining but pray for President Muhammadu Buhari to overcome challenges facing the nation.

Akinosun made the appeal while ministering at the Grand Finale of a Seven-Day Fasting and Prayer at Ikoyi Mountain Ero-Omo Village, Osun for the nation on Saturday morning.

Thenewsmen reports that the prayer was organised by  Evangelist Felix Adunpe, General Overseer, Signs and Wonders Prayer Ministries in collaboration with the CAC, held between April 21 and April 27.

The prayer, which had hundreds of Christians praying from 11 pm to 4am, was tagged: “Nigeria Must be Redeemed”.

Akimosun, the former Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, said that only God could redeem Nigeria from her present predicaments.

According to the cleric, who read from Psalm 122: 6 and Jeremiah  29:11, God loves Nigeria and would heal the nation of her current socio-economic and security challenges with prayers.

“Leaders fail when people fail to pray. Stop abusing and cursing our leaders because as you curse them the consequences will be borne by all citizens.

“If we pray for our leaders, God will inspire them and everything will be all right. We should not lose hope in Nigeria.

“Let us pray for peace, progress and prosperity of the nation. We need to pray for economic resurgence and prosperity. We need God’s intervention in this country.

“We need to pray for this nation because of innocent people that are being slaughtered everyday. Let’s pray for the redemption of this country.

“It is important we pray for the President. It is our response as children of God to pray for our leaders and the country. If we fail, many evil will be springing up,” he said.

According to Akinosun, Nigerians must bring to fore sincere love for the country and shun hatred because it is the only country we possess.

He said that Nigeria required a forthright leadership that would lead her to desired destinations of economic advancement, peace and prosperity.

The cleric, who cautioned against self defence, said that such step would make killings more rampant in the nation.

He added:”Let’s cry to God. This is the work of the church. The hope of every nation is the church. People continue to rebuke the church if we fail to do our responsibility.

“We have God that answers prayers. If we can reverence God by asking forgiveness, God will heal our land. It now clear that this nation needs prayers for the leadership and the followership.”

The cleric, who urged the Federal Government to restructure the security architecture of the country, expressed dissatisfaction over recurrent killings and economic hardship facing Nigerians.

Akinosun, who also called for an end corruption, ritualism, kidnapping, urged the political leaders to be alert to their responsibility and be selfless to end crisis.

“The president must do everything in his capacity to see that the killings stop,” he added.

He later led the people into serious prayer for nation’s redemption and intervention in her governance, saying sacking the President would not solve Nigeria’s problem.

“The moment we win the spiritual battle, the nation will move forward. God will intervene and darkness will vanish. Nigeria must be redeemed,” Alalade said.

The cleric, who led the congregation in fervent prayers for peace and God’s intervention in Nigeria’s governance, asked God to terminate all works of Satan.

In his remarks, Adunpe, co-host of the prayers noted that God revealed him that the nation had exalted idols through the hostage of Festival of Arts and Culture ( FESTAC ) in 1977 and demoted God.

He said God directed him to hold the prayers on the mount, adding: “Before Nigeria can enjoy peace and unity and make progress, Nigerians must pray and ask for God’s forgiveness.

“There is hope for Nigeria as God will intervene, peace will reign after this prayer,’” Adunpe assured.
