Former Green Eagles’ captain, ‘Chairman’ Christian Chukwu, would be communed to mother’s earth on Friday, August 22nd, in Enugu.
The family announced yesterday that arrangements are already underway to give the former national team’s captain and coach a befitting national burial.
Accordingly, plans are underway for an event to take place in Lagos, where he played most of his national team football, to enable his fans and friends that may not be able to travel to Enugu for the funeral, to celebrate the legendary Nigerian football hero.

Chukwu who played his club football for only Enugu Rangers earned 54 caps for Nigeria with five goals.
He led the Green Eagles as skipper to the AFCON glory on home soil in 1980 and was an assistant coach to Dutch coach Clemens Westerhof when the Super Eagles won the AFCON for the second time in Tunisia in 1994; and qualified for the FIFA World Cup for the first time in 1994.
He was the Super Eagles’ head coach at Tunisia 2004 AFCON where Nigeria won a bronze medal.
