Funmilayo Afesumi, a clothier from Ogun State, has urged youths to seek a vocation to earn a living.
Afesumi is set to unveil her store, “AS Exquisite Fabrics on Sunday in Lagos State.
She enjoined people “never to despise days of little beginnings, and gave her example of starting from a showglass in her mother’s shop.
She hailed her mentors, Halleluyah textile of blessed memory, Oyebanji Exclusive Textiles.
With time, Afesumi diversified into real estate, selling land in Lagos, Ibadan and Abeokuta. Combining fashion with real estate, she said, has been by His grace.
Born in Lagos State, she began her education at Golden International Nursery and Primary School in Ketu, and her secondary at United High School Ikorodu.
She went to Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic and Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, both in Ogun, studying accounting.

After her service year in Cross River, she went into fashion, and later real estate.
She recalled her early days, ‘‘…When anyone shows interest and doesn’t have money, I have a friend at the motor park I give the clothes to. When those interested finish paying, they collect the clothes from him. I am not where I ought to be yet but I am not where I used to be.”
She advised younger entrepreneurs to aim higher, stay focused, and know what they want. “Things may not look like it yet but please don’t stop believing in yourself”.
