Shina Peller, wife bag new chieftaincy titles

FOR the boss of Club Quilox, Shina Peller, honour is the final seasoning for a well-cooked broth. The son of Prof Peller, the famed illusionist regarded as the greatest magician to come out of Africa, Shina has been charting his own path even though he has learned a lot from his famed father and lived by his example.

Seeing a yawning need for night fun in metropolitan Lagos, he established Club Quilox many moons ago and has since then been honoured with the well-earned moniker of ‘King of Nightlife’. Not resting on his laurels, the head honcho of Aquila Group of Companies spread his tentacles into other areas like music and hospitality. More importantly, he has been stretching out his arm in aid to people who are in need of one thing or the other. His philanthropic spirit came to the fore recently when he sponsored a football competition for the youth in Ogun State in honour of his late father.

In recognition of the foregoing, he and his wife were recently surprised by the traditional ruler of Iseyin, Oyo State who conferred him with the title of Aare Gbobaniyi of Iseyin while his wife was installed as the Yeye Aare Gbobaniyi.

  • Jury out on Oritsefemi’s Club Quilox incident

It is no longer news that a few days ago, popular music act, Majemite Ekele, popularly known as Oritsefemi, was at the centre of a fracas at upscale Lagos night club, Club Quilox, which left the singer and a bouncer needing treatments for minor injuries.

The gist now is that some leading names in the entertainment industry have waded into the verbal war between the fair-complexioned crooner and Club Quilox management over the altercation which happened last Friday at the VIP section of the club.

A few days after the incident, Oritsefemi’s management team released a version of the story exonerating the singer and heaping all the blame on the bouncer as well as Quilox owner and CEO Shina Peller. A few hours later, the management of the popular night club fired back with their own statement in which they rubbished Oritsefemi’s version and laid the blame for the fist fight firmly at his doorsteps.

They said that trouble began when Oritsefemi not only sat himself at a VIP table already booked by another customer but also tried to bring his friends to the same spot, leading the customer to call the bouncers to throw him out. The statement also claimed that the bouncer, who was bust open above the eyes, is insistent on pressing charges against the Double Wahala crooner.

Although some of the celebrities who have chipped in their words on the incident blamed Quilox’s management for not handling things in a professional manner befitting such a hip establishment, most of them lambasted the artiste for his alleged unruly behaviour, even if it was in the face of provocation.

    Quilox brawl: Oritse Femi apologises

Hours after the management of Club Quilox reacted to the saga involving ‘Double Wahala’ crooner, Oritse Femi and a bouncer at the club recently, the artistes who appeared spotting for more trouble has made a public apology for his unruly action.

“Hello my lovely fans,” he writes. “I know a lot of you have been waiting to hear from me directly. Let me start by saying I’m sorry for disappointing you all. I have never been involved in any altercation before now. I love peace and I would never hurt anyone knowingly. Things got out of hands and I reacted badly, it was a mistake, and I take the blame. I’m human and at that moment I acted unruly.

“I want to thank you all for your support over the years and I understand if you are angry with me, I’m sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you to those that have reached out to me.

“There is no ‘Oritsefemi’ without you my lovely fans.

“This will never happen again. Lessons learnt.

“I will continue to give you good music that I am known for not violence.”

Earlier, “varying reports as to what went down have surfaced, until the management of the club released an official statement.

Club Quilox had accusing the artiste of culpability in the brawl.

According to the statement, the artiste was admitted into the club on the request of a patron who later called for his exit from the VIP area, when the artiste sought to add his guests including Sound Sultan, to the patrons table. Thus, he went violent when he was turned down, injuring a bouncer in the process.

“Despite his position or the power he thinks he has as a celebrity, this is not an excuse for inflicting grave bodily harm on another human being,” the statement reads.

In an earlier report, Oritse Femi had claimed that the brawl caused injury for both parties but more for him as he was reportedly beaten up by other bouncers.

He claimed himself and the injured bouncer were rushed to the same hospital after the scuffle, adding that with the intervention of law enforcement officers, he was asked to pay the medical bill of the bouncer which he did, while the bouncer was asked to replace his gold necklace estimated at N8.5m, a payment which he said he was yet to receive.
