Woman wins civil rape case against Conor McGregor

A woman who accused Conor McGregor of raping her has won her claim against him for damages in a civil case.

A jury found that the Irish mixed martial arts fighter assaulted Nikita Hand in a Dublin hotel in December 2018.

He has been ordered to pay her more than €248,000 (£206,000) in damages.

Speaking outside the court on Friday, Ms Hand said her story was “a reminder that no matter how afraid you might be to speak up, you have a voice”.

In a post on X on Friday evening, McGregor said he would appeal against the verdict and he thanked “all my support worldwide”.

“I am with my family now, focused on my future” he added.

The jury at the High Court in Dublin had been deliberating for a day before returning its verdict that McGregor did assault Ms Hand.

She had also taken a case against another man, James Lawrence, 35, of Rafter’s Road, Drimnagh in Dublin.

She alleged that he assaulted her by having sex with her without her consent in the Beacon Hotel.

The jury found that he did not assault her.

  • McGregor challenges Adesanya’s record-setting performance at UFC 236

MMA’s biggest star Conor McGregor is sick and tired of the UFC crediting fighters with erroneous record-setting performances, or so he says.

According to McGregor, Adesanya, who captured the interim middleweight title last weekend in a brutal war with Kelvin Gastelum, falsely holds a UFC knockdown record that he earned at UFC 236. The UFC sent a tweet out stating that Adesanya’s four knockdowns of Gastelum are tied for third-most in a single fight.

“Israel Adesanya’s (@Stylebender) knockdowns tonight are tied for 3rd most by a fighter in a single @UFC fight, behind Forrest Petz and Jeremy Stephens each connecting with five in a fight. #UFC236” – UFC on Twitter

Facts are facts, but “The Notorious” had something to say about it while responding to a fan on Twitter. That fan claimed McGregor had knocked Eddie Alvarez down five times at UFC 205. He was credited for five knockdowns at the time but that was later corrected to be three.

McGregor questioned what the UFC had done. claiming they had hosed him twice. Then, he demanded the promotion send him a ‘plaque,’ even if it a digital one.

  • McGregor announces shock retirement from mixed martial arts

Irish mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Conor McGregor said on Tuesday he was retiring from the sport, five months after losing to Khabib Nurmagomedov in a controversial title fight.

The fight which was held in Las Vegas had sparked a brawl which led to a six-month ban.

The 30-year-old, who has a record of 21 wins and four defeats, is still suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for his part in the melee.

The incident had broken out after his bout with the Russian last October.

This marks the second time McGregor has announced on Twitter that he has “retired”.

A month after losing to Nate Diaz in March 2016 he said he had decided to “retire young”, but returned to defeat the same opponent later that same year.

“Hey guys, quick announcement. I’ve decided to retire from the sport formally known as `Mixed Martial Art’ today,” McGregor said on his official Twitter account.

“I wish all my old colleagues well going forward in competition. I now join my former partners on this venture, already in retirement.”

The Dublin-born 30-year-old has never been far from controversy throughout his turbulent career.

The brash Irishman was charged in April 2018 with three counts of assault and one count of criminal mischief after police said he attacked a charter bus in New York.

The bus had been carrying Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighters.

Video footage appeared to show McGregor and his entourage in an underground parking area smashing windows on a bus filled with UFC fighters.

The fighters were at the arena to publicise an upcoming UFC event.

He pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct, a violation which would not result in a criminal record.

In a separate incident earlier this month, McGregor was arrested in Florida after smashing a fan’s phone.

Inside the octagon, there have been few better.

McGregor won UFC’s featherweight title in 2015 by knocking out Brazilian Jose Aldo in 13 seconds, before having two fights against Diaz at welterweight the following year.

He became the first fighter to hold two UFC belts simultaneously when he defeated Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight title in November 2016.

But he was later stripped of the strap after a period of inactivity.

McGregor was outclassed by five-division champion Floyd Mayweather in a much-hyped boxing bout in August 2017 and he returned to the octagon for the now infamous fight with Nurmagomedov last October.

His announcement comes in the wake of reports that UFC boss Dana White had denied McGregor the main event slot at the upcoming event in Las Vegas scheduled for July 7.

  • McGregor hangs out with hip-hop stars

Conor Mcgregor took his mind off his defeat to Khabib Nurmagomedov by watching Drake and other American hip-hop star perform live in Staple Centre, Los Angeles.

McGregor – who was defeated by Khabib in the fourth-round last weekend at UFC 229 – made the most of his night out as he listened to Drake and hip-hop trio Migos, perform during their Aubrey and the Three Migos tour.

The Irishman took to Instagram to show off his action-packed night out to his huge 29 million followers. McGregor hangs out with American singer Halsey at the Staples Center on the weekend

McGregor was given a backstage tour by hip-hop trio Migos on Friday night as he poses alongside with Migos

He posted a video of him backstage with Migos before posing with a bottle of his Proper Twelve whiskey during the gig.

Furthermore, McGregor enjoyed spending time with American singer Halsey on Friday at the first of Drake’s three concerts at the Staples Center in Los Angeles – with Adele also in attendance.

The 30-year-old appeared to be loving life at the gig despite it coming just a week on from his painful defeat by Khabib.

And following last weekend’s loss, Ronda Rousey has now called out McGregor for his violent actions in the build-up to the eagerly-anticipated fight.

McGregor appeared to be loving life despite his defeat by Khabib Nurmagomedov last week

There were months of bad blood between McGregor and Khabib, with the Irishman having to undertake community service and anger management lessons after attacking the Russian’s bus.

  • Mayweather to abandon retirement for McGregor

Floyd Mayweather has dropped the biggest hint yet that he will face Conor McGregor once again – but this time it will be in UFC instead of the boxing ring.

The two went head-to-head in a lucrative bout in Las Vegas last August, with the American hanging up his gloves after dismantling the Irishman.

But with talk of a rematch under MMA rules in the Octagon gathering pace, Mayweather admits he is keen to strike a  deal.

Mayweather told SHOWTIME Sports: ‘Retirement has been great but as everybody knows, I go to retirement, I come back. Is it possible I’ll come back? Yes, but if I do, it has to be in the octagon.

‘I spoke with my team, Al Hayman says no, but I spoke with Showtime and CBS. If we can get together with Dana White and the UFC to make a mega-fight happen, one fight, it could be against Conor McGregor, we don’t know.

‘Meaning I know that when we fought we both sold the fight, the world loved what we did. But outside the ring you have to carry yourself like a gentleman.’

A question mark has been placed over McGregor’s own future after he was arrested earlier this month and charged with three counts of assault after crashing the UFC 223 media event in New York.

The incident culminated in McGregor throwing objects at the bus of UFC star Khabib Nurmagomedov, smashing a window and injuring lightweight fighter Michael Chiesa.

And though Mayweather concedes his rival ‘has other things to deal with’, he is keen on meeting again.

‘When I do go to the Octagon I look forward to going to probably around 145 (lbs), if that’s a weight class. But right now I’ve got my promoter hat on.

‘We don’t know (if we’re going to do it). (Do I want to?) Absolutely, Only if the money is right. The money will always be right. You talk to my team about that, we’ll all get on the same page. Of course the numbers are going to be crazy.

No pay-per-view plan in Nigeria, says Multichoice

Pay-television service provider MultiChoice Nigeria has described as untrue reports suggesting that it is about launching a pay-per-view service in the country.

The company’s position was made in a statement issued in Lagos yesterday.

A statement  explained that suscribers would have access to the epic Flloyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor boxing fight on the DStv Premium package, while subscribers to pay television services in the U.S. would need to pay an additional $99 on Pay per view basis to access the fight.

This, said MultiChoice, demonstrates the great value DStv provides to its subscribers in Nigeria.

”During the briefing, it was clarified that Pay Per View is a pay television service whereby subscribers of a particular television provider can purchase additional sporting events to view over and above their normal subscription package and charges.   Furthermore, it was explained at the briefing that this service does not currently exist in Nigeria or anywhere else in Africa at the moment, but is being used in the United States and the United Kingdom,” the statement explained.

The company assured that its customers will receive direct communication should any new DStv service be offered in the future, adding that it remains committed to continuously providing world class content and  improved value to its customers at all times.

  • Mayweather: I May Be Too OLD to Beat McGregor

Mayweather: I May Be Too OLD to Beat McGregor

Floyd Mayweather has claimed he’s not the same fighter he was two years ago — and believes Conor McGregor has the advantage going into their showdown this month.

Mayweather, an undefeated former five-weight world champion, takes on the Irish UFC star at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on August 26 in what is expected to be one of the richest fights in combat sports history.

The pair traded insults and threats during a four-city publicity tour last month and the American 40-year-old also recently vowed to knock McGregor ‘the f*** out’.

However, Mayweather — whose last fight was a win over Andre Berto in September 2015 — has conceded that McGregor, 29, has age and height on his side.

He told ESPN: ‘He’s a lot younger. When you look at myself and Conor McGregor on paper, he’s taller, has a longer reach, he’s a bigger man from top to bottom.

‘He’s a lot younger, so youth is on his side. I’ve been off a couple of years. And I’m in my 40s. So, if you

‘I’m older. I’m not the same fighter I was two years ago. I’m not the same fighter I was five years ago. I’ve lost a step.

‘A fighter like Andre Berto isn’t even supposed to go the distance with Floyd Mayweather, but remember, I was 38.

‘It’s obvious I’m slipping a little bit to even let a fighter like that go the distance with me. I’m not what I used to be.’

Mayweather and McGregor enter the ring to face each other in Las Vegas later this month

The two fighters have been trading insults relentlessly ahead of their showdown this month
Mayweather is a heavy favourite for the fight, winning all of his 49 professional bouts. McGregor, meanwhile, has never boxed professionally.

And the American boxing legend has promised an entertaining fight, having learnt from his underwhelming performance in the victory over Manny Pacquiao.

He added: ‘This can’t be a defensive fight. I have to go to him. I owe the public because of the Pacquiao fight. They weren’t pleased with that. They’re gonna be pleased with this fight here.’

McGregor poses with son and fleet of Rolls Royces

Conor McGregor has delivered another reminder of his extravagant lifestyle by posting a photo of himself in front of a collection of Rolls Royces.

McGregor took to Instagram to post the snap of the three Rolls Royces while dressed in the outlandish outfit he wore to his New York press conference on Thursday.

The Irish fighter identified each model in the caption accompanying the post, which read: ‘The Wraith, the drop top Dawn and the GHOST!’.

The total retail cost of the Ghost, the Wraith and the Dawn is in the region of £750,000 and McGregor posed in front of the cars at a garage in New York.

He later documented a trip through the city at night time in one of the sports cars with the caption: ‘The Mac Life’ in another insight into his glamorous lifestyle.

His upcoming opponent Floyd Mayweather is also not adverse to flaunting his lifestyle. The American wore an incredible £1million diamond-encrusted Hublot watch for the last stop on the promotional tour in London.

McGregor also displayed his softer side to Instagram by lifting his baby son Conor Jack up to the sky on an airport runway in Las Vegas.

The MMA superstar has just concluded his four-day promotional tour with Mayweather in the build up to their fight in Las Vegas on August 26.

The tour’s final stop was at Wembley on Friday, following trips to Los Angeles, Toronto and New York.

McGregor labelled Mayweather a ‘stupid, baldy t***’ in a heated exchange between the fighters, while the American hit back with a homophobic insult.

The bout will be McGregor’s first ever as a professional boxer – in contrast Mayweather’s record stands at an undefeated 49-0.

Mayweather and McGregor share same private jet to London

Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather are in the middle of a bitter war of words to promote their August 26 showdown… but it has emerged that they shared the same private jet to London on Friday.

The pair will trash talk at Wembley Arena on Friday afternoon in front of a sold-out crowd – the fourth night in a row after events in Los Angeles, Toronto and New York.

But the latest pictures of the pair show that the rivalry may not be all it is cracked up to be, following a seven-hour stint in the same aircraft.

In the previous three nights, tempers have threatened to boil over in a bitter war of words, coming to a head on Wednesday in New York.

At the events, McGregor has been hitting the headlines for his extravagant clothing choices, including a suit emblazoned with swear words and a mink coat.

McGregor goes into the final night of the tour amid controversy after comments he made in New York on Thursday.

After the show McGregor was asked by Guillermo from the late night American talk show ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ who would win between him and Sylvester Stallone’s character in Rocky III.

‘Rocky III, that’s the one where he had that celebrity gym isn’t it? With the dancing monkeys in the gym and all,’ McGregor said.

McGregor has been accused of labelling black people as ‘monkeys’ in an interview in New York

His comments led some people to suggest the MMA star was referring to a scene in the film when Rocky Balboa walks into a gym full of black fighters.

Mayweather said McGregor has ‘crossed the line’ with his remarks. The undefeated boxer suggested his 29-year-old opponent lacked maturity but that he would focus only on the fight at hand.

‘I don’t like the fact that he called blacks monkeys, I think that’s totally disrespectful,’ Mayweather said.

  • Mayweather, McGregor press tour kicks off with a war of words

Mayweather, McGregor press tour kicks off with a war of words

Undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather and mixed martial arts champion Conor McGregor traded barbs during a lively press conference in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

The press conference delighted the rowdy crowd in attendance ahead of their Aug. 26 fight in Las Vegas.

The media conference was the first in a four-day international tour promoting the bout.

The contrasts between the two was immediately apparent as McGregor, wearing a navy pinstriped suit and tie, danced around the stage smiling while Mayweather, wearing a track suit with American flag details, looked on stone-faced.

As is expected in the bout, McGregor was the aggressor, wasting no time bringing up reports that Mayweather earlier this month asked the IRS for more time to pay his 2015 tax bill.

“He’s in a track suit,” McGregor told the crowd of more than 11,000 people, who largely cheered the Irishman and booed the American.

“He can’t even afford a suit anymore.”

Later when Mayweather, whose nickname is “Money” and who frequently uses cash as a prop, pulled out a $100 million cheque on stage, McGregor told him to “give it to the taxman”.

When asked about the tax issue, Mayweather said his attorneys were working on it and did not worry him.

“I just showed you all a $100 million cheque that I haven’t even cashed yet, so we ain’t tripping on that,” he told reporters.

The cheque appeared to be the $100 million he earned for his victory over Manny Pacquiao two years ago.

Mayweather was more subdued than the fiery 28-year-old, reminding reporters that even though he is a heavy favourite, he is 40 years old and that anything can happen in a fight.

He said he expected McGregor, who has never fought a professional boxing match, to try to pummel the defensive-minded Mayweather, who is putting his perfect 49-0 record on the line.

“He’s upset, I’ve seen it before,” Mayweather said. “And when these fighters get upset with me they come out and they try to kill me,” he said with a laugh.

“My job is to do what I do and keep my composure.”

The crossover fight has been criticised as a publicity stunt by boxing purists who give McGregor no chance.

But UFC president Dana White said the fight is one that fans of both sports have wanted.

“When two guys get in there and start throwing punches, anything is possible,” White said.

“If you are a fan of combat sports, there has never been a better time.”
