Why Lagosians should vote APC, by chairman

The campaign train of the All Progressive Congress (APC) rolled into Ikorodu Division yesterday, where party chairman Cornelius Ojelabi promised rewards for members who deliver their units during the council poll.

Urging Lagosians to endorse the party during the local government election, he assured that its government at the federal, state, and local government levels will not compromise the interest and welfare of Lagos State.

Ojelabi, accompanied by other party leaders, campaigned for chairmanship candidates from the Lagos East Senatorial District at the rally held at the Government Secondary School, Ogolonto.

Tagged: “One voice, one vision, one victory,’ the rally attracted crowds from Somolu, Bariga, Kosofe, Ikosi-Isheri, Ota Ikosi, Agbowa, Imota, Ibeju Lekki, Epe, and Ikorodu.

Ojelabi urged party faithful to put aside their differences and work together towards winning the polls scheduled for July 12.

He said the party would reward party members who demonstrate loyalty and work towards its success on poll day

The chairman stressed the importance of unity in the party, urging aggrieved aspirants to end their grievances.

He enjoined them to reconcile, support the candidates, and work towards a common goal.

Ojelabi spoke on the party’s track record in Lagos State, noting that it has since1999  successfully managed the state’s affairs.

He also announced plans for a mobilisation committee to engage various groups, including youths, women, and others, starting from Monday.

He emphasised the need for the party to showcase its strength and for members to contribute to the party’s success in the elections.

The chairman urged party members to highlight the achievements of President Bola Tinubu at the federal level, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the state level, and Senator Adetokunbo Abiru to the electorate, saying that voting for the APC would ensure the consolidation of these achievements.

Ojelabi expressed confidence that a united party would emerge victorious in the elections.

He said: “If you work for the success of the party, the leadership of your LG is taking note and I assure you that at the end of the day, you will be adequately rewarded. If we work together as one big family, there is no political party in Lagos State that will defeat us. The only party that has structures in all the 376 wards in Lagos is the APC.

“Let us come together and contribute our quota towards the success of the LG election. We are not taking it lightly; we need to showcase ourselves and let everyone know that APC is strong. If all of us are on the same page, victory is ours.

“The achievement of the President at the federal level, the achievement of the governor at the state level, and the achievement of Senator Abiru are enough to convince the people to vote for the APC.”

BREAKING: Lagos will hold elections in 20 local govts, 37 LCDAs, says APC chairman

Elections will hold in the pre-existing 20 local governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos State next year, chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) Cornelius Ojelabi has said.

He dismissed as distractive speculation the insinuations that the polls may not hold in 57 councils.

Ojelabi said:”We wish to inform all and sundry that the Local Government elections will hold across the state in the 20 Local Government Councils and the 37 Local Council Development Areas in the year 2025.”

The chairman said since the creation of the LCDAs, they have not only been the closest to the grassroots, but they have also fostered developments across the state.

He said the party has noted with keen interest the debates on the desirability of the existence of the LCDAs and the need to hold elections into the political offices.

Ojelabi said: “Our position as a progressive party is that we cannot discountenance the contributions of the LCDAs to the overall political and socio-economic development of the state.

“Our landscape is dotted by several infrastructural projects by the LCDAs which include road , drainage and market construction , school and housing projects, primary education and health facilities and various social service interventions etc.

“The various collaborative efforts with the state government on refuse disposal, drain clearing and security are also pointers to their continuous relevance.”

He added: We hope this release will put paid to further speculations as regards the local government elections in order not to unnecessarily heat up the polity.

“We implore our members and all Lagosians to continue to coexist peacefully as we all strive to maintain the leading position of our state in the federation.”
