On why he embarked on the project, which took him three months to complete, Chukwu, reputed to have built a 21ft sculptural piece, the 21st Century, as an undergraduate, noted that it was his contribution to his host community.

Adesimbo Oluwasusi, backing up his point with a picture of Sweden Police in skirt, he said:

“If female officers can wear skirts, why can’t “youth corper” wear one. The important thing is that modified attire does not interfere with her responsibilities and she is comfortable. We worry too much about other people’ headache o! Na wa!”

    Lawan Ajimi

“See hypocrisy of Nigerian just imagine recently a one Muslim girl deny her to call to bar just because she wear hijab ? but when this girl change her trouser to skirt they started compare her with Sweden police skirt”

    Yinka Afe

NYSC should by now develop strict (printed) rules, give to 400Levels across institutions, if you concur, you sign before collecting a call up. After this process, if you get there to alter the rules and regulations, you’re fired. The same goes for the Law School. It’s indiscipline to alter the rules you’ve agreed to uphold”

    Benny Odhomi

“She should be decamped as she has violated the dress code! Every religion forbids disobedience of constituted authorities.”

    Israel I-sax Adeyanju

We don’t respect the authority. We always want to justify irregularities.  This is a great sign of failure on the part of our religious leaders.”

    Idara Udo-inyang

“So putting on a skirt makes her more of a Christian than every other person huh?…. I feel disgusted when people try to mix religion and law. You’re meant to put on a trouser for the rigorous exercises you’d undergo. You can still cover all parts of your body, from your head to your toe and still go to hell!!!!!”

    Engr Suleiman Mora Zakariya

“Nothing wrong about it. After all the most discipline organization (armed forces) that train them also have skirt as part of their dressing regulations. So bravo to her.”

  • Corps member renovates Ekiti NYSC secretariat

A National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member serving in Ekiti State, Miss Ikeade Adebusoye, has renovated the corps’ zonal secretariat at Ikere-Ekiti.

The secretariat had been in disrepair for a long time.

Miss Adebusoye, who spoke yesterday at the inauguration of the zonal secretariat, said she was motivated to execute the project because of the discomfort NYSC workers and members using the facility go through.

The corps member, who hails from Ondo State, said the experience she had with her colleagues when the building was leaking during their Community Development Service (CDS) meetings propelled her to initiate the project.

The zonal secretariat was inaugurated by the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Nwanno Ukagha, who was represented by Assistant Director in charge CDS Andy Obarein.

Miss Adebusoye, a member of Batch ‘B’ Stream 1 of the Corps, added that she bought new roofing sheets, louvers, asbestos, did the flooring and painted the building with her N420,000.

The corps member, who is serving at Benin Owena River Basin Development Authority in Ikere, said it was challenging getting financial assistance for the project.

But she said she got assistance from well-meaning individuals who shared her dream.

The Aeronautical Engineering graduate from the University of Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom (UK), who also attributed the feat to the support of her mother, Princess Adejoke Adebusoye, promised to keep on executing projects for the less privileged after concluding her service year next month.

Mrs. Ukagha urged other corps members to emulate Miss Adebusoye, who she said had made history by the massive renovation of the zonal office.

The NYSC coordinator said: “She has contributed her quota to national development as a corps member and Ikeade will be remembered for what she has done anytime we are making use of this facility.”

She advised corps members, who will conclude their service year next month, to be security-conscious, avoid staying back and shun frivolities, which could endanger their lives.
