The All Progressives Congress (APC), House of Assembly candidate for Abeokuta North Constituency in Ogun State, Hon. Taiwo Oludotun, (Twinny) has cried out that his life, as well as his family members and workers are in danger.

The aspiring lawmaker in the state, who has written the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu and Department of Security Services (DSS) in the state over threat to his life, sought the protection of police for himself, workers and his family.

Mikhail Kazeem, were after his life, adding that they were planning to eliminate him or planting incriminating items in his house or office, in order to be arrested or detained not to participate in the incoming elections.

In the petition dated February 1st, 2019, submitted to the force headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, and DSS office in the state, the engineer-turned politician said that impeccable source has notified him that agents of the current administration in Ogun State are trailing him for the purpose of eliminating him.

He said that on January 31st, 2019, he was in a campaign convoy with APC gubernatorial candidate in the state, Prince Dapo Abiodun, at Elega junction Abeokuta, when Hon. Mikhail Kazeem attacked their campaign rally, but the Nigeria police operatives that were with the convoy were able to stop him and his thugs from harassing them.

He added that about 5:00pm same day of the campaign, he received a private (hidden)? call that Mikhail Kazeem with his thugs led by Adeola Kazeem (Mikhail Kazeem’s brother) and one FAJOL were planning to attack him and destroy all his properties particularly his business premises.

Oludotun said immediately at about 5:50pm on the day, he called Kazeem to let him know that he heard about his plan to kill him and destroy his office, admonished him to have a rethink, but surprisingly he sent his thugs to his car wash at Akinolugbade road, Abeokuta, to kill him and destroy his car alongside the cars within the premises.

  • Save us from cultist group, Delta community cries out

Youths numbering over 50 yesterday stormed Asaba, the Delta State Capital, protesting the activities of a cultist group known as White Ladder in Okirighwre community, Sapele Local Government Area of the state.

Okirighwre community is a suburb of Sapele town.

The protesters blamed the numerous cases of murders, arson and kidnapping since 2009 on the cultist group.

Defying the heavy down pour, the protesters marched on the Delta State Ministry of Justice where they tendered a petition to the office of the Department of Public Prosecution  demanding investigation into the alleged murder ,arson and kidnapping cases against the group led by one Okoro alias G1.

The protesters carried placards with inscriptions such as:‘A Cry to the NPF to swing into action because Okoro is dragging their name into the mud’, ‘We reject cultism, killings and kidnapping in Sapele’, ‘Sapele politicians stop shielding criminals,’A cry for justice’,  ‘DPP prosecute the killers of our brothers from Okirighwre,’ among others.

According to the leader of the group, Gabriel Omofeye, who spoke to The Nation, the community has not known peace since 2009 due to the activities of the White Ladder cult group.

He accused some politicians of the ruling PDP in the state of being behind the cultists who allegedly worked for their election victories.

He alleged that some policemen were aiding the criminal elements, making fat gains through them.

His words, ‘The reason we have come for this protest is that our lives are at stake. Series of killings have been going on in our community. There is this notorious boy, popularly known as Sunday,  a.k.a G1 who has been killing innocent people from Okirighwre community. Killings have been carried out in broad daylight. Three of the cultists are in Sapele Prisons right now.

“The arrest followed a petition written to the Delta State Commissioner of Police.  He has evaded police arrest, even when policemen from  Zone 5 Office in Benin came, they could not arrest them. We have all fled our community for fear of being killed. A top PDP chieftain is behind this group who have continued to terrorise us. It is the same politician who is trying to arm-twist the DPP to enter a no case submission in favour of the suspects.”

He added: “A particular police officer (names withheld) is aware.  Since 2009 when these killings started,  he has always tipped these cult guys off any time the police want to arrest them.”

A victim, Agboroki Agboroh William, while narrating his ordeal said: ”I have not been around because I have been away to Ghana. I returned home February 4th to renew my passport and return. The cultists asked me to join their gang or I must leave the town. I was given an ultimatum to leave the community, but I exceeded the ultimatum.

“The cultists numbering over 10 attacked me with bottles and knives shooting sporadically to scare away people. I was left for dead, but a Good Samaritan saved my life. I only regained consciousness in the hospital .I have not relented since this attack because they (cultists) stole a lot of my properties. The two fingers on my left hand are paralysed .This led to the arrest of three cultists who are now remanded at Sapele Prisons. But the cultists are threatening to come after me, boasting that a no case submission will be entered in their favour by the office of the DPP and they will be released.”

The Director of Public Prosecution, (DPP), who spoke through an official, Champion Umukoro, denied allegations of bribery against the DPP’s office. His words: “I assure you you have done the right thing by ensuring that your protest is peaceful. We can assure that we do not shield criminals. All allegations will be investigated. The DPP has a reputation of integrity. Justice will be done.”

  • Save me, kidney patient cries out

He retired hale and hearty three years ago. He was fit and was still thinkig of what to do on retirement when fate dealt him a cruel blow. He was fell by renal failure.

Isaac Adeyinminu, who retired as maintenance crew head at C&C Towers, Victoria Island, Lagos, lies prostrate in his 260, Murtala Mohammed Way, Yaba, Lagos Mainland residence.

Since he was struck down by the ailment last year, relatives have been wheeling him to the hospital twice a week for dialysis. He coughs out N70,000 weekly, that is N3.36 million per annum, to sustain his life. He said he has exhausted his savings and that of his wife.

With a puffy face and lying on a couch in his living room, Adeyinminu barely audible, said: “Doctors told me it has got to a stage where I cannot continue with dialysis because of adverse effects; that I must do kidney transplant as soon as possible.”

Though he has found a donor, he now needs N6.5 million for the life saving surgery. Dr E.L Bamgboye, a Consultant Transplant/Nephrologist at St. Nicholas, said Adeyinminu was diagnosed with “chronic kidney disease, secondary to hypertensive nephrosclerosis.” The hospital spoke “on the long term management options and advised that a live donor renal transplant confers the best ‘quality of life’ in established end stage kidney disease.”

Bamgboye said an initial deposit of N5 million is needed to cover the cost from pre-transplant investigations to post-operative admission of donor and recipient. He said N1.5 million would be needed for the recipient to remain on regular immuno-suppressives for the first year to prevent rejection of the graft. “Even though not to be deposited, the unit would seek reassurance that he would have access to these funds (N1.5 million) over the period,” Bamgboye said.
