Why I might not venture into music again – Cynthia Morgan

Singer Cynthia Morgan has addressed concerns about her well-being after a video surfaced on social media, clarifying that the footage is over a year old.

In a statement, Morgan thanked fans for support, including those who created a GoFundMe account to aid her.

However, Morgan expressed reservations about reviving the crowdfunding campaign, citing past issues with the account’s management.

She revealed a shift in focus towards real estate and ministry, hinting at upcoming details about these new ventures.

Morgan also opened up about her relationship with music, stating that while she doesn’t rule out future projects, any potential return to the industry would be driven by personal enjoyment rather than a desire to revive her career.

The singer expressed gratitude for her experiences in music but emphasised her commitment to her new pursuits.

In her video message, she said: “So hello and good morning everyone. God bless you all. There’s a video of me making rounds on social media, and I just want to address that.

“I would like to tell everyone that that video is over a year old. I’d like to let everybody know that I’m well. Thank you all for your concern. I might not be able to respond to every message, but I see them and I appreciate them.

“There’s a fan of mine that went to the extent of creating a GoFundMe account for me. I’m looking into it to see if I would like for the account to go public, because I’d like to say that when I first had my interview, there was a GoFundMe account that was created for me. But unfortunately, the person that was handling the account said the account was shut down, so I didn’t get any money from the GoFundMe apart from the money that was directly sent to my account.

“I think I’m quite maybe traumatized with the idea of setting up a GoFundMe again. Also, most importantly, I would like to be very straightforward with everyone—that my immediate goal or my future goal is not to get back to music.

“I’m now into real estate, and I’m also into ministry, of which I’ll be dropping more details in due time. I wouldn’t like to tell people that I’m setting up a GoFundMe to get back to music or anything like that. I’m not sure about music for me.

“I was very passionate about music. I literally started music when I was a teenager and did that for a decade non-stop. That was everything I knew. After what I went through with music, I feel like it was basically a detour to take me back to my original state, which is me.

“I don’t regret making music, but I think I made a lot of it with so much passion. As of now, I can tell you that I didn’t get what I deserved, but I give all glory to God. I certainly will tell you that I might not be able to go back to music and do it the way I used to. I might be able to return to it in a better way, or I might never want to go back at all.

“If I ever decide to do music again, it would just be for the fun of it. You never can tell what tomorrow holds. I’m not going to shut all the doors and say I’ll never record again or get in the studio. I don’t know what tomorrow holds.

“But I would like to tell everyone that if you wish to donate to the GoFundMe account, please know that getting back to music is not definite—and that’s what it is.

“Thank you, everyone. God bless you all, and have a great day”.

  • My refusal to attend Davido’s father’s birthday party may be reason for his grudge – Cynthia Morgan

My refusal to attend Davido’s father’s birthday party may be reason for his grudge – Cynthia Morgan

Singer Cynthia Morgan, popularly known as Madrina, recently shared her encounters with Grammy-nominated artist Davido during an Instagram live session.

Cynthia recounted their first meeting in 2011, where their disagreements began.

Acknowledging how much of a big fan she is to the superstar singer, Cynthia said she called him to do a remix of his then-hit song ‘Dami Duro’ but he banged the call on her.

Cynthia said her second contact with him was at a club with his relatives, saying he disregarded her as a party girl.

According to her, her last interaction with Davido was when her old manager, Jude Okoye, urged her to collaborate.

She said that despite past experiences, Davido was eager to hear Cynthia’s voice, so they agreed to do it.

Cynthia speculates that her refusal to attend Davido’s father’s birthday celebration may be the root cause of his lingering resentment towards her.

He said: “I and Davido’s issue started way back in 2011. The first time I saw Davido was in his song, Back When. I didn’t know who he was at that time, and the next time I heard of him was from my late friend, Mr Alao, who was a lecturer at Redeemers University at that time and he played Dami Duro for me.

“The song didn’t have a video at that time, but I loved it, the energy was awesome. He connected me with Davido so I could get the beat of the song and do a Refix but he ended the call on me. But because of how much I loved the song, I reached out to someone to help me get the beat and he helped me do that I did a song on it but never dropped it.

“My second encounter was in 2013, I was in the club with a close friend and Davido came in with B-red and Sina Rambo, and girls were frolicking around him. The person I was with, who was my P. A at that time told me to go say hello to him and when I agreed, and wry to gree him, he shoved him off and mistook me for one of the ladies, who wanted to get with him. I didn’t still care and enjoyed his music.

“The third time I will have an encounter with him was when my former boss, Jude Okoye wanted me to put Davido on a Remix of Don’t Break My Heart and he gave me Davido’s number to call him. This was in 2014 and when I called, Lati, one of his aides picked up the call and said he wasn’t around. Less than an hour, he called me back and Davido expressed excitement and told me he wanted me to put him on a song, ‘Taken’. After the business call, he invited me to his father’s birthday party but I didn’t show up because of the previous encounters we had. I feel like that’s the reason he started having attitudes towards me.”
