    Foundation chief gets award

    DAKA Foundation has congratulated its Founder/Chief Executive Officer, Dr Kazeem Abidikugu, on the award of excellence given him by the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) as the Champion of Ibadan Culture and contributions to the development of Ibadan land.

    The award was received on his behalf in Ibadan by the Director of Strategy, Planning and Programme Development of DAKA Foundation, Prof. Olumide Olajide.

    CCII, the apex body of socio-cultural clubs, societies, unions and associations of Ibadan indigenes in all spheres of life, home and abroad, had in a letter written and signed by CCII President-General, Chief Sulaiman Ajewole and Chairman, Ibadan Week Festival Planning Committee, Chief Abiola Alli, said the council was concerned and committed to the sustenance of cultural heritage and economic development of Ibadan land.

    It said it was pleased to inform Abidikugu that it would like to confer on him the Champion of Ibadan Culture.

    CCII said the award was in recognition of Abidikugu, a United Kingdom (UK)- based psychiatric consultant, for his contributions to the growth and development of Ibadan land.

    DAKA Foundation in a statement by Prof. Olajide said the award was well appreciated and a sign of recognition of Abidikugu’s contributions to the development of Ibadan land.

    The foundation congratulated Abidikugu, saying the award would spur him to do more for Ibadan land.

    ‘Sports solution to illicit activities’

    The Chief Executive Officer of DAKA Foundation, Dr Kazeem Abidikugu, has urged governments and non-governmental organisations to encourage the development of sports, to prevent youths from engaging in illicit activities.

    He spoke while receiving AIONIAN Meritorious Award at the 2025 AIONIAN Games in Ondo State, for his contributions to education, sports and youth development.

    Abidikugu, represented by the Education Coordinator, DAKA Foundation, Abiola Williams, said if youths were engaged in sporting activities, they would not become idle hands to be used by Satan.

    He said: “We need to engage our youths in sporting activities. Most of them are in their prime with a lot of energy. This energy can be used to win laurels in sports. In most developed countries, Nigerians and indeed blacks are the ones dominating in sports.

    “It is high time we engaged our youths in sporting activities right from schools so that they will not go into drugs, cultism and other vices.”

    Presenting the award, the Chief AIONIAN, Masanwo Adegbemiga, described DAKA CEO as an illustrious and distinguished person.

    AIONIAN is the combination of first letters of four schools in the Southwest, namely Abeokuta Grammar School, Ijebu-Ode Grammar School, Ondo Boys High School and Ibadan Grammar School.
