    Magoro, Ayuba battle Dakingari

THE desire of Governor Saidu Dakingari of Kebbi State to hand over to the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Gen. Sarki Yakin Bello, seems to be hanging in the balance.

This may not be unconnected to the stiff opposition of two retired army generals in the state, Muhammadu Magoro and Tanko Ayuba. While Magoro reportedly fell out with the governor for not backing his ambition to return to the Senate in 2015 on the platform of the PDP (he is now the APC candidate for Kebbi South), Ayuba is allegedly angry that the governor has failed to fulfill several promises to him after he (Ayuba) was not offered a return ticket to the Senate in 2011.

The two retired generals, who have since defected to the APC, have now thrown their weight behind the party’s governorship candidate, Atiku Bagudu.
