Niger State Government has described the death of the former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Daniel Clifford Shashere, as a monumental loss to the state and Nation.
Shashere died on Sunday, May 4, 2025.
In a statement signed by the Secretary to the Government of Niger State (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman, he said that the government received Shashere’s passing with deep sorrow and profound grief.
“On behalf of the Government and the people of Niger State, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the Shashere family, friends, associates, and the entire Niger State community on this irreparable loss”.
Usman said that Shashere was not merely a public servant but he was a visionary leader whose contributions to the development of the State remain indelible in our collective memory adding that during his tenure as secretary to the state government, he demonstrated exceptional administrative acumen, unwavering integrity, and an uncommon dedication to the progress of Niger state.
“His leadership was characterised by remarkable efficiency in coordinating Government activities, fostering inter-ministerial collaboration, and ensuring the effective implementation of State policies and programmes. Under his watch, the office of the Secretary to the State Government became a model of excellence in public service delivery, the SSG added.
“Beyond his official duties, Mr. Shashere was a compassionate humanitarian who consistently advocated for the welfare of civil servants and the broader citizenry. His door was always open to those in need, and he approached every challenge with wisdom, patience, and a genuine commitment to finding sustainable solutions.
“As we mourn this great loss, we also celebrate a life well-lived in service to humanity. Mr Shashere’s legacy of selfless service, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the development of Niger State will continue to inspire generations of public servants”, said the SSG
He stated that the State Government stands firmly with the Shashere family during this difficult period and pledges to honour his memory by upholding the values of excellence, integrity, and selfless service that he embodied throughout his illustrious career.
