    Abia CP decorates 15 promoted officers, charges personnel on professionalism

    The Abia Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, has decorated 15 personnel of the command who were recently promoted to their various new ranks.

    The decoration of the affected officers was held at the Command’s Officers’ Mess, Umuahia, the capital, during a strategic conference meeting with senior officers of the command.

    The decorated officers include eleven (11) Superintendents of Police (SPs) who were promoted to Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs), and four (4) Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) promoted to Superintendents of Police (SPs).

    In his address to the promoted officers, the Commissioner of Police charged them to let their new ranks reflect positively in their conduct, performance, and relationship with members of the public.

    He emphasised that promotion comes with greater responsibility and urged them to exhibit humility, discipline, and professionalism, reminding them not to become demi-gods in their formations.

    The CP also presented awards to ACPs, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), Tactical Team Commanders, and Sectional Heads in recognition of their hard work and gallantry, respectively.

    He also celebrated the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka, for her recent award of Distinctive Performance by International Alert in partnership with UK International Development, and Sgt. Chika Blessing for winning a medal in arm wrestling at the All-African Games held in Ghana.

    The CP encouraged the award recipients to view the recognition as a call for honesty and qualitative service delivery.

    To promote professionalism, the CP announced that the Command’s Library at the PPRO’s office has been stocked with relevant books and encouraged officers to cultivate a reading culture to keep abreast with the demands of their duties.

    He urged all officers to make good use of the library to enhance their effectiveness and efficiency.

    CP Isa further cautioned officers against unprofessional practices such as over-detention of suspects, involvement in civil matters, and other misconduct, warning that appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against erring Officers

    He charged all officers to uphold the rights of suspects in custody, maintain good working relationships with communities and relevant stakeholders within their jurisdiction, and ensure that their stations are well fortified at all times.

    Abia police commissioner vows zero tolerance for indiscipline, misconduct

    The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, Danladi Isa, has warned that the leadership of the security agency under him would not tolerate any form of indiscipline and professional misconduct among personnel serving under the command.

    Isa issued the warning while speaking at the command headquarters in Umuahia, the state capital, addressing the newly recruited Specialist Constables and indigenes of the state posted to serve in the command.

    The constables, who are professionals in various fields, including driving, tailoring, information technology, medical services, welding, painting, and the police band, were urged to uphold a positive image of the police force.

    The CP emphasised the importance of discipline and professionalism in their duties and warned against corruption and unprofessional conduct. He stressed that any act of indiscipline would be met with appropriate disciplinary action.

    Some of the newly recruited police personnel promised to discharge their duties with a high level of professionalism and dedication during an interview.

    The Nation reported that the state command recently dismissed Sergeant Jonas Nnamdi, Corporal James Daniel, and Corporal Ifeanyi Emeka after an orderly room trial found them guilty of misconduct, conspiracy, extortion, and abduction of unsuspecting victims.

    The dismissal of the affected personnel has attracted wild celebration among Abians, who lauded the Commissioner of Police for his commitment to sanitize and redeem the image of the force.
