Singer Danny Young has stated that the rise of social media has marked the end of the oppressive dominance by certain figures in the music industry.

During a recent podcast, the singer recounted an incident where a powerful figure in the industry deliberately excluded him from an award nomination.

He emphasised that social media has diminished the control that industry gatekeepers once held over creatives.

“The good thing is that social media came to expose many of them because it gave people the opportunity to express themselves, and that’s what led to the emergence of what we call Gen Z. My definition of Gen Z is freedom—freedom of speech, freedom of rights, and freedom of expression.”

Singer, Danny Young, has revealed that he harboured no fear in re-launching his career, even after taking a significant break to study the evolving music scene.

The artiste, known for his perfectionism and self-confidence, emphasised that fear is the only thing that can turn a person into a loser.

“I am a perfectionist, and I believe in myself and the importance of evaluation and research,” Danny Young stated. “Once I know what I want to do, I strike immediately and leave the rest to God.”

Reflecting on his time away, Danny Young explained that the break allowed him to observe the industry’s shifts and trends, ensuring that his return would be impactful.

He dismissed the notion that time away could hinder his success, noting that every generation witnesses the rise and fall of different artists.

“Artistes come and go in every generation,” he continued. “But I knew that with the right preparation and a clear vision, I could make a strong comeback. Fear was never an option for me.”
