  • Talk Your way to Success!

    Talk Your way to Success!

We discover from Scriptures that success is God’s will for us and as such every child of God has been redeemed for all-round success. However, success does not fall on people’s laps neither is it obtained on a platter of gold. There is always what to do to enjoy every provision God has made for us in His Word.

Among others, one important step to our success is to talk our way into it. It is impossible to encounter success without talking success. This is because the words we speak either make us or mar us. We determine the things that happen to us by the words of our mouth. Whenever we speak success, as contained in scriptures, we are speaking the right word that contains irresistible great forces that cannot go unheard.

As regards our success in life, many Christians don’t believe it is scriptural to be successful and as such they keep closed mouths. Remember, it is often said that ‘a closed mouth is a closed destiny’. In actual fact, they think it is pride to talk success. They prefer to be wretched Christians than to be associated with success. But Jesus did not teach us so, He said that we are the light of the world. In other words, we are redeemed to be Pace-setters, pathfinders and trail-blazers for the world to follow.

He also said that we are the salt of the earth; that means we are designed to preserve humanity from decadence and to give taste to the tasteless world. In addition, Jesus said that we are cities set on hills which cannot be hidden. That helps us to recognise that every child of God is ordained for global relevance, influence and exploits. But as we all know, we cannot claim what we cannot proclaim, our inheritance notwithstanding. In other words, what we don’t believe, we are not empowered to become and until we say it, God is not empowered to deliver. If talking success is too big for our mouths, it would be too big for our hands (John 1:12; Genesis 13:14). Therefore talk success! Until we talk it, we can’t have it. This is my secret over the years and it is still working for me. Remember, the Bible says: Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof (Proverbs 18:21; See also Mark 11:23). The words we speak are powerful and can affect us positively or negatively. Thus, to experience success through the words of our mouths, we must understand the following:

    • Our Words Are Seeds: The Words we speak are seeds, which bring forth fruits after their kind. As it is written: …the seed is the word of God (Luke 8:11). This means that how much of the word of God we express through our lips in any area of our lives, determines our harvest. Thus, when we feed our hearts with words of success and express them through our mouths, we are sowing seeds of success. Unfortunately, some people no matter how hard they work cannot enjoy success. This is because despite the fact that they are great givers and diligent workers, they sow seeds of failure with their mouths. This is why there are many great doers, but poor talkers. In spite of their great doings, they still remain small. We must recognise that God is not to blame for our failures as He regards what we say as the conclusion of our expectations. As it is written: … for ye shall have whatsoever he saith (Mark 11:23). Therefore, we should stop saying negative things about our present conditions; rather, we should start speaking what is written in God’s Word.

Our Words are Likened to Rainfall: Also, the words we speak are likened to rainfall from heaven. Just as the Word God sent forth out of His mouth never return to Him void, so also the words we speak never return void. They are like rainfall that causes a sprouting forth of whatever seed is sown in the earth. Remember, no matter how much seed a farmer puts in the ground, if there is no rain, the seed would perish in the earth. Likewise, the words we speak would either bring down rain to water the seeds sown or establish a drought that will destroy the seeds. It is time to begin to water the labours of our hands, by speaking the right kind of words (1 Corinthians 3:6).

Filling our Hearts with the Right Words: We understand from scriptures that: …out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh (Mathew 12:34). This implies that our mouths speak forth the overflows of what is in our hearts. When we become drunk with the words of success, we speak them naturally. As written in scriptures, life and death are in our mouths, so we should speak life, that we may enjoy success in life.

God is Committed:  In the school of success, what we say with our mouths is as important as what God says. Thus, God is committed to what we say, just as He is committed to what He says.  As it is written: That confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers (Isaiah 44:26). Every one that serves God is His servants, and He is bound to confirm our words. So we must speak the right words so as not to lack results because God will confirm it. God is committed to whatever we say, whether it is said in the public or privately. He can’t act until we have uttered the words. So stop talking trials because what we talk is what we possess. Rather, start talking testimonies and we will stop seeing trials and failures.

However, God is only committed to what the redeemed say. Thus, if you are not saved, God will never confirm what you say. Are you born again? If you are not, this is an opportunity to do so. Simply say the following prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Deliver me from sin and satan to serve the Living God. Today, I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now I know I am born again!” For further reading, please get my books: Success Strategies, Success Systems, Maximising Destiny, Exploring the Secrets of Success. NUC accredits six undergraduate courses in Landmark University – VC

Prof. Aize Obayan, Vice-Chancellor of Landmark University, Omu-Aran, says the National University Commission (NUC) has accreditation six undergraduate courses in the institution.

Obayan told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Omu-Aran on Thursday, that the NUC letter conveying the approval of the courses was received by the management on April 3..

She disclosed that the approval was the fall out of NUC team’s visit to the institution for the November/December 2016 accreditation when the courses were presented.

Obayan listed the accredited courses and programmes as Computer Science, Economics, Biochemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Sociology.

She further said that the approval was significant, showing clear demonstration of the success of the exercise for an institution that had penchant for best academic practices.

The vice-chancellor also attributed the feat to God’s faithfulness upon the institution as well as the exemplary leadership style of its Chancellor and Chairman, Board of Regent, Dr David Oyedepo.

She said the courses which were highly rated by the NUC would be for five years.

Obayan also said other courses such as Accounting, Banking and Finance as well as five other engineering programmes had also been given full professional accreditation status by ICAN and COREN respectively.

“Recently, the Computer Professional Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN) conferred full accreditation status on the institution’s Computer Science programme”.

The vice-chancellor reiterated the commitment of the institution to pursue an agrarian revolution drive toward attaining sustainable agriculture production in fighting poverty and unemployment.

Obayan, who commended members of staff and students of the institution for their dedication and cooperation toward achieving the feat, promised that the university would maintain high level of academic performance.

  • Oyedepo wants intellectuals to justify essence of language communication

Oyedepo wants intellectuals to justify essence of language communication

Dr David Oyedepo, Chancellor, Covenant University (CU), Ota in Ogun, has appealed to intellectuals to ensure they communicate to their listeners in the language they will  understand.

Oyedepo stated this on Thursday in Ota at the university’s inaugural lecture series.

A professor of Stylistics, Christopher Awonuga, delivered the lecture tagged: “What does this text mean: Stylistics and the process of interpretation.”

Oyedepo said that no matter how intelligent and knowledgeable a man is in a particular field, once he could not put his message across to his listeners meaningfully, he could not be said to have communicated to them.

The chancellor said there would always be correlation between man and language because of their dynamism, adding that this necessitated the need for man to continue to acquire more knowledge on language usage.

He said examples abound the world over where clarity of communication had resulted in ‘quality decision making’ that had shaped the society and brought about positive development.

The cleric said his calling as a communicator of the Gospel of Christ had made him traverse the world.

“Yet, I have continued to discover new challenges and gaps in my communication skills, as well as the need to address them as urgently as possible.

“This lecture of today applies to everybody.

“It is unfortunate that many of us speak but only few communicate.

“This is where the essence of meaning comes in; and I want to say you can’t be a part of a decision if you cannot communicate effectively because clarity of communication is vital in every relationship.

“This lecture will, therefore, go a long way in influencing clarity of communication, “Oyedepo said.

In the lecture, Prof. Awonuga underscored the ambivalence nature in which English personal pronouns such as: ‘mine’, ‘your’, ‘yours’, ‘I’, ‘me’, ‘my’, ‘we’ ‘their’’ and ‘they’ are used to connote various meanings in texts.

Awonuga said he conducted linguistic analysis of some poems and five texts and found that both speakers used personal pronouns to balance their relationship with their audiences.

He said: “The reviews and analysis demonstrate that in political rhetoric, the relationships among participants in the discourse situations are mediated by personal pronouns.

“This delineates a social or political ‘space’ in which people and groups have a political position.”

In his recommendations, Awonuga advised students of English to always read the stylistic study of poetry and prose frictional texts to enhance their styles.

  • Oyedepo proffers solutions to nation’s food deficit

Oyedepo proffers solutions to nation’s food deficit

Bishop David Oyedepo, Chancellor, Landmark University, Omu-Aran, Kwara, on Wednesday said that raising agricultural practitioners was one of the best solutions to food scarcity in the country.

Oyedepo, founder of the Living Faith Worldwide International, also known as Winners Chapel, gave the suggestions during the institution’s 6th Founder’s Day celebration in Omu-Aran.

He said that there was no substitute for food and the software needed to address the challenges posed by food insufficiency.

“The best solution is raising agricultural practitioners through quality and innovative education to tackle the difficulties in the sector, including the notable food deficit.

“Despite the breakthroughs in the development of information technology, there is yet to be any substitute to food and software in addressing the challenges posed by its unavailability.”

Oyedepo, represented by Prof. Aize Obayan, the university’s Vice-Chancellor, said it was high time agriculture stakeholders stopped paying leap services to its transformation and development.

He said that substantial part of the nation’s abundant land resources scattered around its six geo-political regions still remained under-utilised.

According to him, there is the need to evolve practical solutions to improving agriculture through productive learning, product research and development.

“We cannot drive leverages in agriculture without innovative thoughts and thinking.

“This is because every land you find around you is a gold mine, which must be explored,” he said.

Obayan, in her own speech, said the institution since its inception six years ago, has continued to maintain stable academic calendar and life-applicable qualitative education.

The Vice-Chancellor said these sterling qualities had projected the institution as a cynosure among its peers and to the outside world.

She listed the striking professional accomplishment of Mr Kenechukwu Okafor, a 500-level student of the Department of Mechanical Engineering who won the National Award of Global Student Entrepreneurship among the institution’s recent achievements.

Mr. Ademola Olorunfemi, the guest lecturer, described the institution’s agrarian revolution as one that preceded the nation’s realisation of the need to be sufficient in food production.

He spoke on: “Leveraging on Innovation and Engineering in Breaking New Grounds for Sustainable Agricultural Development in Nigeria.’’

Olorunfemi said the nation’s economic recession was a good pointer to the timeliness of the topic as governments’ and stakeholders were making frantic efforts to use agriculture as a catalyst to solve food insufficiency.

He said innovation in agriculture possessed the potential to expand yields, increase efficiency, reduce waste and address concerns about toxicity, safety and the environment.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the institution under the Landmark University Community Development Impact Initiative (LMUCDII) had earlier donated some equipment to the Omu-Aran Medium Prison as parts of the founder’s day celebration.

Other highlights of the celebration were products’ exhibition as well as planting of economic trees.

Oyedepo urges Christians to obey God’s word to be successful in 2017

The presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, David Oyedepo has urged Christians to obey God’s word to be successful in the New Year.
Oyedepo said this on Saturday ‎during the cross over night service to usher in 2017, which held at the church’s headquarters, Otta,Ogun State.
The service was attended by members of all branches of the church nationwide by hooking to the headquarters through satellite broadcast.
According to Oyedepo, children of God who obey God’s commandments succeed in hard times.
“In 2017, the quality of life of any Christian is dependent on the level of his obedience to God.
“The obedience of any child of God can silence every opposition on his life,” Oyedepo said.
The presiding Bishop stated that Christians do not need to make noise to be relevant in the society, adding that they were distinguished by being obedient.
He stated that every commandment of the scripture was applicable at all times and to all children of God, irrespective of the denomination.
Oyedepo, however, took to the scriptures to declare God’s blessings on worshippers present at the ser‎vice.
Some worshippers at the church, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) also expressed their expectations for the New Year, fairness and disappointments in the past year.
Mr Monday Kpumkapa, a worshipper in the church said he expected that country’s leadership had taken note of the loop holes in governance in 2016 in order to make amends in the New Year.
Kpumkapa said “we all know that the year 2016 was not a favourable one for Nigerians, it was a year of hunger and so many issues with our government.
“It will not be nice if the government still allows this hard economic situation to persist, they should do something and alleviate the plight of the masses.”
Miss Silvia Dominic, another worshipper, said she was grateful to God for the year 2016, adding that it was smooth for her.
Dominic noted that it was well with her economically, health wise, and each time she had issues, help always came to her.
She, however, expressed her desire to get married in the New Year.
Destiny Kindness, a boy of nine years and also a worshipper, said he hoped that the educational system of the country improves.
“In my school, we don’t really have good facilities that make learning easier, and I wish that things can change so that education can improve in my school and in the country.
“I also want God to provide for my parents so that they can cater ‎for my siblings and I,’’ Kindness said. (NAN)

  • Encounter with destiny through God’s word!

Encounter with destiny through God’s word!

From scriptures, we understand that every child of God is a child of destiny. Not just any kind of destiny, but a glorious destiny (Romans 8:29-30).

Furthermore, we discover in scriptures that every encounter with God, is an encounter with destiny. For example, men like Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Gideon, Peter, Paul and many others validate this fact (Hebrews11:6-10; Genesis 22:1-18; Judges 6,7).

First, we must recognize that the destiny of every believer is locked up in the Bible and it takes a diligent search in the word to unlock it. When we discover and believe the truth regarding our inheritance, God is committed to make good His promise. Just as God said to Abraham, as far as your eyes can see, God is committed to make happen (Gen. 13:14-15; Rev.3:18).

We must understand that when we discover and believe the truth regarding our inheritance, God is committed to making good His promise. Just as God said to Abraham, as far as your eyes can see, God is committed to make happen (Gen 13:14-15; Revelation 3:18).

But what is our Destiny Worth in Redemption?

       From scriptures, we understand that:

We have a victorious destiny in Christ: We may be challenged, but we are not permitted to be defeated. Christ causes us to triumph in all our ways, including our places of work, homes and every of our journeys (2 Corinthians 2:14).

We have a glorious destiny: We must understand that God has called us unto eternal glory, which means unending glory. That also connotes a shame-free destiny (1 Peter 5:10; Rom. 8:29-30).

We have an enviable destiny: As it is written, concerning Isaac, he went forward, became strong, waxed great and the Philistines envied him. This implies that, we are to be envied and not to be pitied. Therefore, anything pitiable around us must be swallowed up in victory (Genesis 26:14; Galatians 4:28).

We have a prosperous destiny in Christ: We are not redeemed to suffer, but we are redeemed to enjoy abundance of all things (2 Cor. 8:9; 2 Cor. 9:8-11).

We have a destiny of fruitfulness in the covenant: As it is written; Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle (Deuteronomy 7:14; Ps 89:34; Matthew 5:17).

We have a destiny of health and vitality in the covenant: Serving God qualifies us for health and vitality (Exodus 23:25). None of our covenant fathers were ever recorded sick; instead, they enjoyed health and vitality all through their lives.

Longevity is our portion in the covenant: Long life is part of our covenant rights in redemption (Psalm 91:16). All our covenant fathers enjoyed long life. These include Abraham, Isaac, Moses, Joshua, etc (Isaiah 51:1-3; Genesis 25:7; Genesis 35:27-28; Genesis 47:28; Deuteronomy 37:7; Joshua 24:29).

How, then, do we encounter Destiny? The Following, among others, are some of the ways we can encounter destiny:

First, through the Bible – The Living Word of God: God’s Word is the mirror of life where we discover who we are, what we have and what we can do. Every believer has a free access to the Word, from where we have encounter with destiny.

Through anointed books: Anointed books are not only designed to enlighten us, but they are also channels through which we encounter destiny (Hosea 12:10).

What are the Benefits of Encounters with the Word?

•Encounter with the Word connects us with destiny, our inheritance. For example, Jacob had a glorious destiny through an encounter with God (Isaiah 9:8).

•Encounter with the Word preserves our destiny, as in the case of Joseph.                    (Psalm 105:17-22).

•It dignifies destiny, as it was with Samuel, who had series of encounters with the Word and emerged an honourable man of God(1 Sam. 3:21, 1 Samuel 9:6).

•It advances destiny. Diverse encounters with the Word enlarged the destinies of Abraham and Moses (Gen. 12:1-3; Gen. 22:17-18; 1Samuel 12:6)

Friend, the power to benefit from the above, is the preserve of those saved. You get saved by confessing your sins and accepting Jesus as your Saviour and Lord. To be saved, please say this prayer: “Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins. Today, I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You, Jesus for saving me!  Now I know I am born again!”  This week, you are going to see amazing manifestations of angelic intervention! I will be with you next week, if Jesus tarries. Stay Blessed in Jesus’ name!

  • Oyedepo punctures claims of religious bias in Osun

Oyedepo punctures claims of religious bias in Osun

Eyes are on Osun State as the people prepare for the August 9 governorship election. In this piece, Erasmus Ikhide contends that the pedigree of the flag bearers, and not their religious leanings, will shape the contest.

Both Governor Rauf Aregbesola and Bishop David Oyedepo seem to be in agreement with Kutaddgu Bilig, written for Turkish ruler of the Karakhanids in 1069, which said, “To control the state requires a large army. To support the troops requires great wealth. To obtain this wealth the people must be prosperous. For the people to be prosperous the laws must be just. If any one of these is rejected the state will collapse.”

The single most touching issue plaguing this nation or any other nations of the world today is religious crisis. Religious disharmony is so combustible to the extent that it could consume any nation or people if not properly managed. Political gladiators in history, especially in Nigeria have manipulated the religious vulnerability of the people and still doing so for political gains.

The People Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate, Senator Iyiola Omisore in Osun State’s 2014 Governorship election, is frantically exploiting religious sentiments, blackmail, and other incendiary mechanisms to hoodwink the electorate. One of such gimmicks sold to the general public is the open allegation that Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s administration has not only blank out the Christian community in the state in terms of patronage, but has made efforts to muscle them out of existence.

The charge fall flat on its face. Out of 36 members of the cabinet in the state, 26 are Christians; also, out of the 12 members representing Osun in the National Assembly, 6 of them are Christians. The Christians also had the majorities among the local government chairmen, which shows how committed the governor is to bring about religious peace and harmony in the state.

The allegation has been long in coming without thorough checks by his critics on the the religious issue Governor Aregbesola’s administration inherited from the previous PDP government. It’s common knowledge – except for the mischievous band of frustrated politicians who daily waxed in delusionism – that the governor is out to Islamise the state. The charge bothers more on the wearing of Hijab by the Muslim students in Christian schools.

The issue of Hijab would have been rested by now, if not for want of excuse of failures on the part of PDP, which governed the state for roughly eight years before Ogbeni retrieved his stolen mandate from them. For the records, it was under Governor Olagusoye Oyinlola’s administration, a PDP Governor that the Muslim community went to court and insisted on their wards attending schools in their Islamic wears as part of the school uniform. As we speak, the matter is still being pursued in the court by the Muslim community. Dressing Ogbeni in a borrowed robe to score cheap political points on the bases of religion fanaticism is clearly a crass political opportunism and promotion of falsehoods to a grand art.

On the other hand, the accusation that School Reclassification process in the state didn’t factor in the National School Policy of 6 3 3 4 System is another tactical attempt to paint an otherwise noble policy in a bad light.  The need to provide world class learning environment necessitates the ongoing building of model elementary Schools across the state in accordance with the UNESCO Schools Reclassification standard, which has since been adopted by the US and other developed countries.

The elementary Schools are state-of the-arts structures that accommodate 900 pupils of ages 6-9, in the first grade to the fourth grade, i. e, Primaries 1-4. In the same vain, government has built over 15 Middle Schools across the state. They are also state-of-the-arts structures with accommodation provisions of 1,000 capacity for the students. The middle school is for the fifth to the ninth grade which is the present primaries 5-6 and the Junior Secondary School JSS 1-3 in the age ranges of 10-14 years. Students in the High School are within the age bracket of 15-17 years. This category is known as Grades 10-12. The High School Infrastructural facilities will accommodate 3000 students.

It is in the light of these strides and other innumerable achievements of Governor Rauf Aregbesola that the General Overseer of the Living Faith Church a.k.a. Winners’ Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, on Wednesday, 9th July, 2014, said the infrastructural renewal, particularly the education revolution in Osun deserves global applause.

Bishop Oyedepo gave his assessment in Osogbo, southwest Nigeria, when he paid a courtesy call on the Governor of the State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. The cleric noted that any governance that is producing results and affecting the lives of vast majority of the people must be deeply appreciated, irrespective of religious inclination. The Bishop strongly appealed to stakeholders to always be at the vanguard of peaceful coexistence, noting that there is nothing like living in peace, working in peace and promoting peace.

“There is nothing like peace in the whole world. We should always walk towards whatever will promote peace and peaceful coexistence among our people. Let us work for an atmosphere that encourages peace, which engenders growth and development. This is because life is all about promoting the well-being of the people.

“I deeply appreciate the infrastructural development. Besides, the education revolution is for us a great achievement. “I can see the massive road construction going on. This is to the benefit of the people. No policy can remove the roads. I am very impressed,” Oyedepo said.

Observers of political development in Osun should know that Governor Aregbesola’s administration has no political, religious or tribal preference. It is absolutely impossible for Ogbeni to be a religious fundamentalist owing to his all-faith inclusive background. One cannot but wonders why the governor has been so  described by mischievous makers who erroneously tagged his administration as pro-Islamic faith.

The only description that suits Aregbesola’s administration by any forward looking individual, is zero tolerance for religious cohabitation and opportunism. This largely accounted for near total peace in the State. Aregbesola has always encouraged people to practice whatever faith they profess, even within his own immediate family.

“My upbringing in Yoruba setting has given no basis for religious antagonism and mutual distrust. “It is impossible in Yoruba milieu not to imbibe the culture of accommodation, tolerance and understanding of the faith of others.

“I guide my faith as much as I fight for the protection of the faith of others. If anyone would accuse me at all, it should be that I have zero tolerance for fundamentalism. “Therefore, my liberal disposition to religion is thus farther from the erroneous impression of being an Islamic extremist,” Aregbesola said.

It is clear the mischief makers has been engaged in a futile battle to make up for their irredeemable battered image and character – which is the ultimate determinant of the August 9th election. The people of Osun will chose between sound character and bloodletting criminal gang, between concrete development and deceptive promise of development and people-oriented governance and propergative ones.
