Davido marks 33rd birthday, teases new album

Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido marked his 33rd birthday today with an intimate gathering of family, close friends, and key members of his 30BG crew in Atlanta, United States.

The celebration brought together prominent figures from his inner circle, including billionaire father Adedeji Adeleke, uncle and Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke, sister Sharon Adeleke, cousins Nike and Folashade Adeleke, wife Chioma Rowland Adeleke, manager Asa, and longtime collaborator DJ ECool.

Held ahead of a sold-out concert at the 21,000-seat State Farm Arena as part of his ongoing 5ive Alive Tour, the event featured a lively atmosphere filled with music, laughter, and heartfelt toasts.

Reflecting on his path during the party, Davido highlighted his evolution from a teenage artist to a global icon.

He noted that he released his debut single at age 17 and now, at 33, views the past year as one of his most fulfilling.

“I dropped my first song when I was 17, and now I’m 33. This year is one of my best years ever; I got married to the most beautiful woman and we had our babies”, he said.

The singer credited much of this joy to his recent marriage to Chioma and the arrival of his twins.

Davido also generated buzz among fans by announcing progress on his sixth studio album, just seven months after the April 18 launch of his fifth project, 5ive.

How I skipped school in 2011 for an Ibadan show – Davido

Afrobeats superstar Davido has shared a nostalgic post about his early days as a performer.

The Grammy-nominated artist reminisced about skipping school in 2011 to perform in Ibadan.

Fast-forward to the present, Davido is now headlining his 5ive Alive tour across Nigeria, with Ibadan inclusive, which has been a huge success.

The tour has seen him perform to massive crowds and collaborate with other prominent artists.

Davido wrote on X, “In 2011, I skipped school to perform in Ibadan. Asa, Peju, B Red and Sina picked me up from Babcock, and we drove to join the Lynxxx and Friends Tour. I had no idea it was going to air on Soundcity, and when my pops saw it, I got in so much trouble.

“14 years later, we destroyed the stadium. The 5ive Alive run across Nigeria has been one for the books.”

Davido is using his platform to encourage his peers to invest in their homeland and give back to their roots.

“To my peers, let’s build back home and give back to our roots. Big love to all our sponsors for backing this historic tour”, he added.

The tour is set to continue with upcoming shows in Abuja and Lagos.

Davido will also perform at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta on November 20th to celebrate his birthday on the 21st.

“Abuja and Lagos up next, but next stop is ATL for my birthday, State Farm Arena on November 20th,” he concluded.
