You are not responsible for their happiness but yours. Anyone who wants you to live in misery for their happiness should not be in your life to begin with.

“You have the power within you to overcome anything that life throws at you. There is nothing as helpful as a made-up mind. Surround yourself with people who remind you that you matter & support you in the ways that matter most to you. No person, situation, or circumstances can define you. Be big & bold enough to say this is my life! And I am responsible for it.”

She shared a clip of Olaoluwa’s apology, captioning her post: “Case closed. To err is human, to forgive is divine. Making mistakes is a natural and inherent part of being human. Let’s be guided.”

Olaoluwa, who admitted the toll of his actions, described his two-day detention as one of the worst experiences of his life, second only to the pain of losing his mother.

“I spent two days locked up in Yaba Panti. Aside from losing my mum, that was the worst experience of my life,” he said.

“I want to thank Aunty Dayo Amusa for forgiving me. If not for the fact that she changed her mind and forgave me, I would have been there for a long time. I don’t pray to ever sleep in a cell again,” he added.

Amusa emphasised that she’s not HIV positive.

She said: “A few years ago, I did an HIV test, which came out negative, and I posted it to encourage my fans to get theirs done. Some days ago, a content creator posted it on his page that I am HIV positive.

“By now, he knows what he is going through because I will not let this slide. Why do content creators and bloggers post unverified information?

“I have families and friends who read all these lies. He will be my scapegoat and serve as a lesson to others. I am HIV negative”.

Esther Ijewere calls out Dayo Amusa over alleged plagiarism

Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has faced backlash for allegedly plagiarizing a post by media strategist and women’s advocate, Esther Ijewere.

The controversy arose when Ijewere discovered that Amusa had reportedly copied and reposted her heartfelt message about singer Asake without crediting her as the original author.

On March 14, Esther Ijewere had shared a deeply personal opinion on Asake’s childhood struggles and the emotional impact of parental rejection. The post quickly resonated with many readers.

However, by the following day, Amusa had posted an identical version on her Facebook and Instagram pages, omitting any mention of Ijewere as the original writer.

On March 15, Ijewere publicly addressed the situation: “Dear Dayo Amusa, You took my post from my Facebook page and shared it as your own on Facebook and Instagram without giving me proper credit. Please do the right thing and acknowledge my work. It’s important to respect and credit the original creator.”

However, reacting in a comment on Instagram, Amusa said that she had received the post via WhatsApp and did not know who the original writer was.

“E dey pain you say I no tag your name abi. Pele baby!!! Like I told you in your DM earlier. I don’t know you, let alone knowing you were the original writer. It was copied from a friend’s WhatsApp, and I even screenshot am for you to see. I felt the need to share to a wider audience coz I related so well with the circumstances. And am sure you & your soldiers aren’t blind to see the #copied at the end of the post, meaning I take no credit to the post.”

“How market? Enjoying the gbasgbos? Have fun and enjoy it while it lasts.”

Shortly after, she added the hashtag #copied to her Instagram post and disabled the comments section.

Esther Ijewere, the founder of Women of Rubies, has spent years using her platform to uplift creatives.

Ijewere expressed her disappointment over Amusa’s actions, stating: “That article was personal to me. It wasn’t just about Asake it was about my own lived experiences. I have always supported creatives and amplified their voices. To see another woman take credit for my work and then mock me for speaking up is disappointing.”

Many social media users criticized Amusa’s response, noting that adding “#copied” after being confronted does not equate to proper attribution.

Dayo Amusa slams critics over breastfeeding choices

Actress Dayo Amusa has spoken out against people who pressure nursing mothers about their breastfeeding choices.

The new mother, who welcomed her first child three months ago, expressed frustration over strangers and acquaintances constantly asking if she’s breastfeeding.

Amusa emphasised that many mothers face challenges with breastfeeding and should not be judged or pressured.

She shared her experience, revealing that she was formula-fed as a baby and turned out fine.

The actress urged mothers to prioritise their own well-being and make choices that work best for them and their babies, without feeling guilty or judged by others.

She advocated for support and solidarity among women, rather than criticism and comparison.

She wrote on Instagram: ‘“Are you breastfeeding” That’s the face of a well-fed baby. Does it matter whether I nursed my son, pumped, or gave him formula? NO. But for some reason, that’s what so many people want to know…..

‘As people smile at my baby at the grocery store check-out, even strangers ask the same question “Are you breastfeeding your baby” Since when is this OK to ask.

‘Here’s the thing-my baby has had it all. He’s been fed by the breast and he’s been fed by the bottle. All that matters is that he is healthy. 3months old I mean.

‘There’s a debate surrounding formula fed versus breast fed. Well guess what? That’s none of your business. Maybe she can’t produce enough milk to feed her child. Maybe the baby won’t latch on. Maybe she doesn’t feel the connection that other mothers feel nursing. Maybe it’s too time consuming. It all doesn’t matter.

‘As a mother of a baby, it takes so much strength and patience in those early days. Between the lack of sleep and the newborn cries and all, the last thing we need is the added stress of trying to please everyone.

‘We don’t need to feel guilty if we can’t produce enough milk or simply choose not to.

‘Moms, you do you. Choose whatever you feel best for yourself and your baby. Don’t listen to others. And as women, we need to show support for each other. Let’s stop with the “Breast is best”. We need to remember that.

‘And for the record, I was formula fed as a baby…and I turned out just fine. @babyolufire #babyolufire.”

DAYO AMUSA: I battled depression for years

For years, Dayo Amusa has been a household name in Nollywood, known for her versatility as an actress, filmmaker, and singer. However, fans noticed her absence from the screen, sparking curiosity about her break from the industry. Now, she’s back with a renewed sense of purpose, embracing her craft and personal growth.

In this exclusive interview with ADENIYI ADEWOYIN, Dayo Amusa opens up about her time away, the challenges she faced, and her plans for the future. She speaks candidly about her struggles with depression, the joy of motherhood, and her unwavering passion for storytelling—both in film and music.

As Nollywood continues to evolve, she shares her thoughts on the industry’s transformation and her strategy for staying relevant. From her upcoming projects to her entrepreneurial ventures and advocacy work, Dayo Amusa proves that she’s not just making a comeback—she’s reclaiming her space in a way that’s personal, purposeful, and powerful.

You’ve been off the screen for a while now, what informed that decision to take a break?

My break was for a good reason. I was off the screen as I needed to attend to nature’s call. I needed the rejuvenating break to fulfil all righteousness.

Now that you’re back, what are you doing differently?

I’m fully back to work, to show my unwavering commitment to my craft, working with producers, directors and the corporate world at large. As it has been established, we at Amzadol Productions bring on quality storylines and creative content and we are not relenting on that as my return is a testament to my resilience and determination.

In one of your posts on IG, you said this come back is personal, do you feel left out at any point?

How can I feel left out when my break was intentional? Of course not. I was dealing with personal issues then and yes I lost interest in everything that mattered. My career suffered the most as I gradually lost focus and interest in my passion. I ran into my shell and battled with depression for many years.

Some of your colleagues have gone to make really wonderful cinema movies while some release on streaming platforms, are you also looking towards that route?

Definitely! It’s a thing of joy knowing some of my colleagues are winning.

When you welcomed your son, you got a lot of love from friends, fans and colleagues, how did it make you feel?

I felt completely fulfilled. I have done so many wrong things in life but one thing I have done absolutely right is having my son.

    How is motherhood treating you?

    It’s been a beautiful experience.

You’ve released a lot of songs in the past one or two years, what is your mission with music?

I love music. I love to write songs. It’s another way of passing messages across, and expressing myself and my deeper thoughts. I am not giving up on music.

How are your fans accepting your music knowing fully well that you are an actress?

I am an entertainer! Not just an actor. I work for a cause, not for applause. Therefore, I do music to express myself, not to impress.

We’ve seen a lot of actors who tried music and failed, does that scare you at all?

I’m never afraid to fail! So, I’m not scared of failure or disappointment. I think not making an effort, not trying, is a major failure.

Do you see yourself balancing both careers equally, or will one take precedence over the other?

To the best of my knowledge, I think I have been able to balance both. Maybe not equally though.

The Nigerian movie industry has evolved significantly in the past few years. What changes have you noticed, and how do you plan to adapt to the new Nollywood?

I agree with you that the game has changed over the years. A lot of efforts have been made to improve our cinematic elements in general and of course, I am looking forward to adapting to the new Nollywood.

You have built a strong brand over the years. What do you think has been the secret to your longevity and relevance in the entertainment industry?

I would say my unwavering commitment and resilience to my craft are filled with hard work, dedication and determination.

You’ve been an advocate for several social causes in the past. Are there any new initiatives or projects you’re currently working on outside of entertainment?

My foundation “Dayo Amusa Foundation” has been and is still active in helping to give a better life to the children, women and elderly. I run other businesses as an entrepreneur. A production company @amzadolproductionstv. A kiddies store @paydabkiddiesworld. A Lash line @dalashpro etc.

Social media has become a major tool for celebrities. Will you also be engaging in a trending marketing style like we’ve seen your colleagues do recently?

Seeing some very outstanding creative content from my colleagues, I definitely will infuse some of theirs while exploring mine.

What should your fans expect from you in 2025—any upcoming movies, music projects, or personal milestones you’d like to share?

I guess I would just leave it here and let’s see how it all plays out.

  • How I battled depression over infertility, Dayo Amusa reveals

How I battled depression over infertility, Dayo Amusa reveals

Actress Dayo Amusa has opened up about her struggles with infertility and her journey to becoming a mother.

In a lengthy Instagram post, Amusa shared her testimony, revealing that she had been trying to conceive for years and had suffered three miscarriages.

In 2015, Amusa said she was diagnosed with uterine myomatosis, a condition that led some doctors to recommend removing her womb.

However, she opted for surgery to remove the tumor instead.

Despite her efforts, Amusa said all attempts to conceive naturally were unsuccessful, and she underwent IVF treatments in 2019.

She said all her efforts were met with negative outcomes, leading to a strained relationship with her partner at the time.

Amusa revealed that her partner’s impatience and infidelity led to their separation, adding that she was left to battle with depression and feelings of inadequacy.

The actress admitted that she withdrew from her family and friends, lost interest in her career, and struggled with her mental health.

However, Amusa’s story took a turn for the better when she relocated to the United States in 2021, following her mother’s advice.

According to her, the change of environment and a newfound sense of purpose helped her to heal and eventually welcome her first child, a baby boy in 2024.

“MY testimony! I never thought I would get to this moment but GOD knew. For as long as I can remember, I knew I wanted to be a complete ideal woman ( a wife and mom ). Having had 3 miscarriages, in 2015, I was diagnosed with uterine myxomatosis, and some doctors recommended removing my womb due to the complications and discomfort I experience every month during my menstrual cycle. I decided to fight and reject that option. I was on medications, injections, and treatments to stop the growth of tumors until my uncle’s wife advised me to come to the UK for treatment.

“14th of Feb. 2015, I had the surgery to remove the tumor via TCRE Laparoscopy dye ovarian drilling procedure as I was really afraid of being open… In 2016 myself and my then-partner decided to try again as we were so eager to welcome our 1st child together but later discovered one of my tubes was broken and it would be almost impossible to get pregnant naturally. Men as men, my then partner was involved with another woman unknown to me, which produced a baby boy. After so many ups and downs, back and forth, na so the whole thing ended (Story for another day).

“Fast forward to Jan 2019, my supposed husband and I kept trying to no avail, and then we decided to try IVF, but all efforts had negative outcomes. My supposed husband was really impatient with me; he was over 40 years old and was insisting on having a child that year. He proposed if I could allow him to get someone else pregnant while am waiting on my miracle baby, and when I couldn’t live with that, he walked away and of course, got someone else pregnant months later and that produced him a baby girl.

“I became frustrated and very sad. I withdrew and isolated myself; I lost my purpose and lost interest in almost everything that mattered to me, even distancing myself from my family and friends. My career suffered the most as I gradually lost focus and interest in my passion. I ran into my shell battling with depression for many years. Even though it appeared to the world out there that everything was fine with me as I always wore a mask of a happy face But I never lost faith that sooner or later God would hear my innermost hidden prayers and fulfill my desires. What I value the most is the change that God made in my heart and mindset during my wait despite all the names calling to the level of being publicly called a BAREN.

“There’s this misconception that if someone is smiling, they’re okay. If someone is talking about it or has not spoken about it, they must be okay. But the reality is… it’s often hard to be okay when you’re faced with the challenges of waiting / infertility. Is it the constant blame, self-doubt, name-calling, fear of the unknown, waiting, pain, comparison, sadness, anger?

“It’s all so heavy. It is a full-time job. It often wreaks havoc on once mental health, relationships, career, productivity and even finances.

“All this time, my mum (my world) would suggest I relocate to the United States or the United Kingdom. She would advise me to have a change of environment and breathe new soil as it was obvious I wasn’t living the life anymore; instead, life was leaving me. She once bought me the full return ticket as I’ve not been working and was financially unstable as of then. After so much persuasion, In 2021, I gave in to her advice to have a change of environment and that was when the story changed.

“I traveled and came back with a cleared mind but again December 2023, when we had our yearly Christmas family gathering, with my siblings, my cousins and their kids. I remembered seated in a corner, while my siblings were dancing and merrily singing, I was silently praying to God not to celebrate 2024 December alone. I professed to celebrate December 2024 as a complete fulfilled woman. I got home that night, I couldn’t control my emotions. I cried and screamed my lungs out. I remembered how much I had to drink that night hoping it would help me forget my sorrow. I was so drunk that I woke up in my vomit the next morning. How sad and pathetic it was. I Feel so disgusted realizing the mess I made of myself and burst into tears again.

I remember seating there in my vomit turning the situation into a prayer point. I prayed to God to help wash me off my disgust and perfect all that concern me. In my weakness, I managed to get up, had my bath and came out of my room like nothing happened ( Ofcourse am very good at wearing the AM OKAY face mask).

“December 31st 2023, at the crossover night. My main prayer point was still for God to rewrite my story, cause the world to call me by a new name and I am grateful for answered prayers because God finally FIREWAMIRI

“To anyone struggling, looking forward to her testimony, please know that you are not alone. Nothing about this journey is easy. Know that you did nothing to deserve the challenges you are going through right now and whatever you’re feeling is valid.

“Am using my testimony as a point of contact on your behalf that no matter the challenges you are facing, you will testify to God’s kindness and mercy.”
