    College tops science exhibition

    De Genius Olivet College at Tigbo in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, has won the senior category of Ogun State Science Exhibition for the third year. The competition, organised by Ogun State chapter of the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN), drew participation from over 180 secondary schools.

    It’s entry: “The Automatic Hand-Driven Plough, Planter & Herbicide Spraying Machine,” is a locally developed innovation that integrates automation with manual operation to enhance crop planting and herbicide application.

    Judges lauded the project for its practicality and potential to transform farming among peasant farmers, especially if adopted by government and manufacturing stakeholders.

    As champion, De Genius Olivet College will represent Ogun at the National Science Exhibition Finals in August.

    This win adds to the school’s reputation for excellence in science and innovation.

    In 2024, the school not only won Ogun State competition but also secured the national title at the finals in Abuja.

    Ahmed Omisore praised the pupils, teachers for innovation, dedication, and consistency.

    “You have made Ogun State proud once again. Now, bring back the trophy,” he said.
