Canadian-based actress Deborah Ewedafe has alleged that she lost N6 million to fraudsters who deceived her with false promises of securing a cinema release for her film.
Speaking in an interview on Kunle Afod’s official YouTube channel, Ewedafe recounted how she was misled into believing her movie would make it to cinemas. She claimed the scammers provided fake documents and assurances, leading to a devastating financial setback.
The actress explained that she was initially encouraged to produce films for cinema distribution as a way to recover her investment. However, unaware of the industry’s complexities, she heavily funded the project, only to be duped.
Despite completing the film, Ewedafe lamented that it remains unreleased, leaving her with a significant financial burden.

“The movie is still not out. When we finished the entire production and took it ti the cinema, I was scammed. they kept giving me fake assurances and even fake release date. I spent about N6 million on fake processing and papers.
