  • How APC can defeat PDP in Delta, by chieftain

Otunba Princewill Ejogharado is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State. In this interview with OKUNGBOWA AIWERIE, he speaks on the post-primary crisis and how to end the strife and rancour.

The Delta APC is in crisis but the national leadership of the party has set up a reconciliation committee  headed by former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola. What is your reaction?

You see some of the approaches to the resolution of this near intractable problem in the APC are mostly exercises in self-deception. You see it isvery obvious that we don’t seem to be ready with the way we are going and it is very unfortunate. We read it on paper that there were some reconciliation committee and from the composition of the reconciliation committee those guys were not really ready for reconciliation so it’s an exercise in self deception, so there is nothing on ground now that can sincerely show that we are ready to reconcile with each other as it is, it is very very hard on the Fortune of the party APC in Delta State.

Don’t you think that this crisis will impact negatively on your party during the poll?

The truth of the matter is I will say it is rather most unfortunate the way  Adams Oshiomhole handled the Delta State issue, Delta State. This was a state that was prepared for a take over, just go to Asaba the state capital and do a covert investigation and talk with people along the streets including civil servants and all of them if they know that you are an APC member they will remonstrate with you angrily asking why we behaving like this? Asking, “Do you want to allow this people to continue for another four years”? You can see the anger in them, you can even see now that the electorates are more bothered than the stakeholders in APC, they want a change, a change that is very very clear and possible but here we are. Sometimes, I take my analysis from the local government elections, when the last Local Government election that took place on the 5th of January there was this divide between Omo Agege/ Ogboru vs Emerhor but it was very evident that APC was ready to take over, the difference was not a problem at the local polls. We are all aware of the flaws the local government electoral law but we came together and we made the sitting government to take note, but at the APC national convention we expected that as a party chairman , Oshiomhole should have done some intelligence gathering about the peculiarities of Delta State, whether you like it or not Delta State is a very peculiar state in Nigeria. I will find it very funny if there is a any government in power at the centre who  ignores Delta State and doesn’t pull Delta State along, so with this we were very ready, some of us left the PDP with high hopes and we felt the APC was an alternative for us to achieve our purposes, actually when we came in we were really ready to provide the politics that will help us take over but alas when we got there we saw something different especially the handling of the congress issue. Oshiomhole messed everything up so that even now you can see that the PDP in the state are quietly walking into success because we are more engaged with ourselves in the APC and nobody is even talking about the PDP and the election we are talking about how I will outdo you and how you will outdo me. You can see that we are having factions on the eve of an election. O’tega Emerhor who was the original leader of the party in the state  has been shoved aside. Suddenly Ogboru came and I can’t understand what is happening. I wouldn’t say that the O’tega is a perfect person but this man is the man who has been holding the party together you cannot just come and push him away like that but Oshiomhole for God knows why just came and he doesn’t want to have anything to do with Otega, if the truth must be said I have always said that Oshiomhole took personal vendetta into human administration and it is very very wrong that is the problem in Delta state, Oshiomhole brought in personal vendetta to bear on the problem of Delta State if not Oshiomhole knows very well that Cyril Ogodo is the Chairman of the party but for the singular mistake he made, there . We were made to understand that in the countdown to the National Convention , Oshiomhole called a meeting to the Government House in Edo State and Prophet Jones Erue , unilaterally , attended but Cyril challenged Jones for attending Oshiomhole’s campaign meeting, that is what has brought problem to the Delta State APC,but you don’t carry your personal vendetta to party administrstion so it has helped in no small way to reduce the party’s chances at the gubernatorial polls in 2019 to the barest minimum, PDP is coasting to victory quietly with no stress.

You have just said that Oshiomhole  brought personal vendetta into the party. Can you really substantiate that because it appears Prophet Jones Erue emerged from a parallel congress conducted by another  faction?

You see, let us take it from this angle there was a national chairman Oyegun who conducted all the congresses from the ward to the national level. It was Oyegun that produced Oshiomhole, if the making of Ogodo that Oyegun  made is not good, then Oshiomhole is not good too.Oshiomhole will always say that we are all Bendelites, we are all Bendelites so he sees Delta State as his own. The Oyegun that conducted the elections that was transparent. Oyegun and his  National Working Committee to send the Electoral panel to all the states which they did ,but along the line I think we were made to understand that there was some compromise somewhere there, it remains the right of Oyegun the national chairman and his Excos to correct the anomalies if there was any and that he did immediately, it is not the right of Oshiomhole to correct that because he was not the Chairman then, he came out with the mindset that he was coming to deal with the O’tega tendencies and that is what he has embarked on not minding the negative impact it will have to bear on the party in the state, that is where we are now.

The national leadership of APC has urged aggrieved party men to withdraw their cases from the court but gubernatorial aspirants Victor Ochie and Prof Pat Utomi   have gone ahead. Why?

Like I told you I was a party Chairman and I was a Local Government Chairman and if you critically look at the constitution of the party structure they all have the same function whether as State Chairman, National Chairman and Local Government Chairman and even the ward Chairman our functions are almost duplicated. So you see sometimes you take some decisions that are belated, you can do the right thing in the wrong way, trying to tell those who are already in court to withdraw their cases is doing the right thing in the wrong way and at the wrong time. It’s belated. Everybody knows that Oshiomhole has taken sides how would I know that and still come to him for justice. In Delta State Oshiomhole has clearly taken sides with Omo-Agege/Ogboru. It is very clear the extent of damage that Oshiomhole has caused our party that was already prepared to take over. I was thinking that Oshiomhole was going to look beyond his personal vendetta and look at the party and the fortune of the party but this he hasn’t done, but he has allowed his personal vendetta to becloud his sense of judgement, that is the problem we are having in Delta state. How can Rt Hon.Victor Ochei whom I see as the only candidate that the PDP doesn’t want at all because they know that he is a candidate that will give victory to the APC, be treated with disdain? I am personally thinking that whatever Ochei is going through today is being sponsored by the opposition party because they know his emergence as the candidate of the party will throw them off balance. If Ochei had emerged as the candidate the party I am telling you that there would have been a tsunami in Delta state and lots of high ranking persons in the PDP will have decamped from the PDP. Some times I wonder if our National Chairman is consciously or unconsciously trading off the state from the APC because he is too close to Delta not to know. That is why every reasonable member of APC in Delta State should support Victor Ochei, we know where Utomi belongs to and I like him as a person, he is very intelligent man but politically he cannot give APC victory in Delta state, but Ochei has the name he belongs to them, he knows them, he was the speaker of the state, he was a member of Delta state caucus and not just being a member he has a very influential personality he usually dominates every environment, there is no way Ogboru can win this state for APC so we need a candidate that will win this state, whether you like it or not, we have a unwritten political agreement in Delta state, in 1999 the PDP did their 8 years through James Ibori and Delta South through Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan comprising Ijaw, Itsekiri and Isoko did their 8 years and now it is the turn of Delta North. The candidacy of Ogboru is unnecessary troubleshooting we the practical politicians solved this problem and we started seeking for somebody who we know and we can use to deal with the PDP and get our victory that is why some of us who knows the potency of Ochei’s candidacy aligned ourselves with Ochei , Ochei is the former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly had a legacy that had not been matched since he left there, go there you can see the tenure of Ochei as the speaker should he be the Governor of this state Asaba will become a different story, Delta State the richest state with one of the poorest and dirtiest state capital.

  • I’ll defeat Buhari, Atiku through ballot revolution, says Olawepo-Hashim

The presidential candidate of Peoples Trust (PT) vowed yesterday to defeat President Muhammadu Buhari and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar through “ballot revolution”.

Speaking at a town hall meeting in Abuja, Mr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, told his supporters that he had sufficiently mobilised the grassroots to realise his ambition, adding: “It is going to be a people’s ballot revolution.”

He said it was time recycling of old politicians was stopped and frowned at a situation where some persons continue to live on government at the expense of the vast majority of Nigerians.

Olawepo-Hashim said 2019 was about how to stop killings and hunger in the land.

According to him “It is about how to stop the killings of our people. It is about how to give living wage to people. We will pay N50 ,000 minimum wage to our workers at the one year anniversary of our government.

“The government cannot pay decent minimum wage because they lack imagination, creativity and are devoid of capacity to create jobs.

“But when elected, I will create four million jobs every year. You can trust me to create jobs because that is what I have been doing for 27 years now.”

He slammed successive governments for mismanaging the nation’s economy.

“The economy is mismanaged because they have lived all their lives on government’s largesse.

“The APC policies have always promoted poverty. After three years in the saddle, the party has increased poverty and hunger in the land while the other party is about corruption, selling government property at cheap prices  to themselves.”

Olawepo-Hashim declared that PT is the real alternative party that would sustain the people’s revolution.

Justifying the choice of Dr Arthur Nwankwo as his running mate, Olawepo-Hashim said the statesman had fought for the greatness of Nigeria, stressing that “he is one of the credible people you can find in the southeastern zone of the country.”

“We commit that no part of Nigeria will be treated like a second class citizenry. The choice I made on Nwankwo is to affirm that no section of Nigeria should be made to feel like a conquered people, ” he stated.

He said that competent leaders must be voted into offices, adding that “this is time for truly tested and educated leaders who understand how easy 21st Century economy operates to be elected.”

He added “What we will give Nigeria is a government and leadership that are determined to grow the economy to four trillion dollar.”

Delivering the party chairman’s opening address, Olawale Okunniyi, Secretary of Board of Trustees of PT and the Director General of the National Intervention Movement (NIM), urged Nigerians to embrace a third force as the new alternative to the mainstream parties in the country.

He said: “PT is here to pursue political revolution. We are for paradigm shift. We are serious about changing the fortunes of our country for the better.

“Our candidate is a product of political revolutionary struggle and the party is built on that tradition, hence, our insistence on pursuing a fundamental political agenda to set the path of the nation right.

“That was why we have one of the architects of  federalist restructuring in Nigeria, Dr Arthur Nwankwo, as the Vice Presidential candidate of the party.”

  • 2019: Buhari will be easy to defeat, Bafarawa

Former governor of Sokoto State and PDP presidential aspirant, Attahiru Bafarawa, has declared defeating APC- led administration of President Muhammadu Buhari will be an easy task if all the aspirants join hands with the party.

Bafarawa spoke on Friday in Kano while interacting with PDP state delegates.

He frowned at political bickering and attacks among PDP elders, saying it would affect the party if not addressed.

“There is no reason whatsoever to see some certain party elders fighting each other through media. Such can destabilise our collective unity and chances to defeat ruling APC.

“All such noise and threat among party leaders across board are meant to create disunity by some of whom are not happy with our current success in the country,” Bafarawa said.

He assured nothing will stop him from defeating other aspirants in the forthcoming national convention of the party.

He claimed he had the needed requisites to lead the party to success in the 2019 presidential election.

“I am not afraid. I will never see any of the aspirants as a threat to get our party ticket. I will surely defeat them and secure the mandate.

Kano state PDP chairman, Senator Mas’ud Doguwa assured Bafarawa of total support and endorsement of PDP Kano to realise his ambition of flying the party’s flag.

He said PDP Kano state belongs to genuine party supporters, not any individual adding that no one can intimidate or frighten them to succumb easily on issues in the state.

  • 2019: Don’t run to avoid defeat, APC tells Dogara

Defection is no House matter, says spokesman

From the All Progressives Congress (APC) has come a piece of advice for House of Representatives Speaker Yakubu Dogara — he should not recontest his seat. “A humiliating defeat” awaits him, the party said.

Reacting to the defection of the Speaker to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Acting National Organising Secretary Yekini Nabena said it was not surprising Dogara joined the opposition in view of his anti-party activities in the National Assembly.

He said such activities became more glaring when the PDP won his local government of Bogoro during the recently concluded senatorial by-election in Bauchi State.

Nabena said: “We have received several media requests for a reaction to the purported defection of the Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to one of the opposition political parties, as reported in the media.

“In reacting, a recent comment by President Muhammadu Buhari aptly sums Dogara’s reported defection: The weakest people whose senses of expectation do not align with our vision have exited our party.”

“Dogara’s reported defection has not come to us as a surprise. It was only a matter of time, judging by Dogara’s anti-party antics in the National Assembly where in connivance with the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, he exploited all available avenues to sabotage and undermine the APC-led executive.

“Dogara’s anti-party activities which enabled one of the opposition Party’s sole victory in Bogoro Local Government Area (Dogara’s council) during the recent Bauchi South Senatorial bye-election won by the APC is another pointer, among several others.

“Indeed, all politics is local. As a party, we empathise with Dogara on his confusion and despair over his bleak political future given the fact that he is not on ground and a political paperweight in his home Bauchi state.

“In his emergence as Speaker, Dogara was merely used by his political master to achieve their selfish political ends at the time. They have since moved on to pursue their individual political aspirations and left Dogara in the cold.

“We would advise Dogara against his ill-advised decision to recontest his House of Representatives seat under the opposition party he is linked with because a crushing and humiliating defeat surely awaits him.

“As a party, we remain united and committed to our progressives ideologies. We urge party faithful to consolidate on our strengths and collectively go into the 2019 general elections as a united and strong political fighting force to sustain the Change Agenda we are implementing for the benefit of Nigerians.”

  • We did not bargain for loss — MFM Coach

We did not bargain for loss — MFM Coach

Lagos-based MFM Technical Adviser, Fidelis Ilechukwu, on Monday said that his team got what they did not bargain for in their scandalous 0-4 defeat to Nasarawa United in Lafia on Sunday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that MFM were whitewashed by Nasarawa United in the Match Day 17 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

It was, however, the turn of Nasarawa United to take their pound of flesh on MFM from whom they suffered two defeats during their last encounter in the 2015/2016 NPFL.

Olayinka Onaolapo’s cross was nodded in by Adamu Hassan in the 45th minutes to give Nasarawa United the first goal which ended the half by a lone goal.

MFM conceded another in the 61st minute when Olayinka Onaolapo slotted home, while Anthony Oussou made it three and Bashir Abdulrahman added to the goal feast in the 86th minutes to complete the routing.

However, MFM had defeated Nasarawa United in the opening game of the 2015/2016 season by 2-1 in Lafia after which they defeated them in the return fixture in Agege by same margin in the Match Day 21fixture.

On the poor performance by his youthful team, Ilechukwu said that the result was what he had no idea of how it came about.

“I am sincerely short of words for the game; the game didn’t go as planned. What happened was not our intention.

“I have watched some games before and I can say that we did not plan to lose with such margin. I don’t have any words for the loss.

“Maybe the players are tired or we had a bad day, the players know better. We were outplayed by all standards.

“Maybe next time we will try better and not lose focus,’’ he said.

Nasarawa United coach, Kabiru Dogo said he was happy to have avenged MFM’s double header defeat last season.

“They have the upper hand against us last season. We didn’t want to lose again this season. We put in everything to avoid what happened last season.

“We know MFM plays very well in the first half and fade out in the second half, so we tried to stop them from playing in the first half.

“As soon as the first half was over, I knew we had done it,’’ he said.

“We started slowly this season. Now the team is jelling at the right time. I am happy with the boys’ performance. Every coach will be proud of these boys,’’ he said.

  • Okpotu blames Lobi’s mistakes for defeat

Okpotu blames Lobi’s mistakes for defeat

Tony Okpotu has revealed that Lobi Stars paid for their mistakes in defence to lose 1-2 to Niger Tornadoes yesterday at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja in a match day 17 tie.

Ibrahim Babawo’s double put Ikoh Allah Boys in the driver’s seat before Luther Iyorhe pulled a goal back in the second half but Okpotu told SportingLife that the scores would have been different had they not conceded cheap goals.

The scorer of four league goals in the ongoing season, however, pointed out that they will be going back home to correct the lapses noticed before their next tie with FC Ifeanyiubah.

With the defeat, Lobi slumped from sixth on the log to 11th with 23 points from 17 games.

  • Rangers 1-0 ABS:Ajanah rues defeat on return

Rangers 1-0 ABS:Ajanah rues defeat on return

Ajanah Chiendu has expressed disappointment with ABS FC defeat against current NPFL champions Rangers.

The 19-year-old was making a return to the starting line-up of the Bukola Saraki Boys after missing the game against Wikki Tourist last weekend due to suspension.

The Flying Antelope made good of home advantage as Etor Daniel wriggled his way past two defenders before scoring the winner to set the home side back to winning ways following their 2-1 loss to MFM last week Friday.

A disappointed Ajanah told SportingLife: “We gave it our best shot but Rangers defended their goal very well and got the three points.

“They are a very good team and the league’s defending champion. We showed in the second half how good we are but unfortunately the goal did not come as expected but we are happy with our display.”

ABS are third on the Nigeria Professional Football League log with 17points while Rangers sit 13th with 12points but have two outstanding matches.

  • Tales of Boko Haram defeat

Shortly before the end of last year, we were treated to the cheering news of the final defeat of the Boko Haram insurgency. The nation’s leadership had announced with much fanfare, it had impregnated the much dreaded Sambisa forest and dislodged the last stronghold of the insurgency group.

It said the last bastion of defence of Boko Haram had been overrun with the capture of what it termed “Camp zero”. By the calculations of the military, with the dislodgement of “Camp zero”, the war has been won.

A highly elated President Buhari did not waste time to commend “the determination, courage and resilience of troops of Operation Lafiya Dole at finally entering and crushing the remnants of the Boko Haram insurgents which is located deep into the heart of the Sambisa forest”. He said he was told that the terrorists were on the run and had no place to hide.

This came precisely a year after the initial deadline to smoke out the insurgents, degrade and destroy their ability for mischief. Then, President Buhari had in an interview with the BBC said Boko Haram has been “technically defeated” and that “Nigeria has technically won the war against Boko Haram”.

When prodded further given renewed attacks by the same terror group shortly after, he said “my own description is that they can no longer mobilize to attack police and army barracks and destroy aircrafts as they used to do. But they can regroup and go after soft targets”.

Since then however, we have seen different fierce engagements between the seemingly degraded Boko Haram group and the Nigerian military. There have been series of high scale attacks from both sides with serious casualties. The casualty figure and the high profile military officers who have unfortunately paid the supreme sacrifice on account of the resurging confrontation raised doubts about initial claims by the government on the progress of the war.

That has been the situation until the same government at the end of last year came up to say again that it has destroyed the last remnants of the insurgents with the capture of the last bastion of their defence deep in the heart of the Sambisa forest. Before then, the government had secured the release of 21 of the abducted Chibok girls, raising hopes that an understanding which would permanently end the war had been struck. One had thought everything was going on well for the government.

When last week, the government advertised its intention to ferry some leaders of the Bring Back Chibok Girls group and journalists to the Sambisa forest to see things for themselves, it was generally viewed as an indication of the final end of the insurgency. But behold, as the trip was about to go on, the terrorists struck within the University of Maiduguri mosque leaving in its toll sorrow and awe.

As the nation was still contending with that loss, came the chilling incident of the bombing of a camp for Internally Displaced Persons IDP’s in Rann in the same Borno State killing more than 100 people including officials of the Red Cross and other humanitarian workers. Reports said the pilot mistook them for Boko Haram insurgents who were regrouping.

Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole Major General Lucky Irabor said he coordinated the air component of the operation following information that Boko Haram terrorists were gathering around the Kala Balge area of Maiduguri. He said when the operation was conducted, it turned that some locals were affected including soldiers.

The government sympathized with families affected by this colossal disaster, attributing it to what it called “regrettable operational mistake”. Condolence messages in their torrents have been coming in from far and wide with many harping on the need for thorough investigation into the matter. The House of Representatives, apparently not satisfied with the rationalization of the bombing, has resolved to probe into the matter.

Many are unable to come to terms with the excuse adduced for this colossal disaster especially given the very casual manner the presidency and Gen. Irabor addressed the matter. Operational mistake resulting in the killing of scores of those still suffering from the pangs of displacement from their homes by the war, is too costly for this nation to bear.

Apart from casting doubt on the conduct of the war all along, it seemed to have put to question some of the claims we have been treated to by this regime regarding the overall progress of the war. How come the same military mistook an IDP camp it set up for a gathering of the terrorist group?  How did the information come about and was there due diligence before the air force plane was cleared to roll out the lethal weapons?

It is unclear the distance between Rann and Kala Balge where the terrorists were said to be regrouping. But even if they are very close, we are yet to hear what action the military took thereafter having discovered that they hit off target. Did those regrouping at the Kala Balge disappear thereafter or were they now allowed to fortify themselves?

These issues underscore the fact that it was too early for the government to have swallowed the excuse that the killings emanated from operational mistake. First, if the air force could bomb an IDP camp at the dying moments of the war, what guarantee is there that the rules of engagement had all along been adhered to? What of its implications on human rights abuses?

Secondly, to accept that will throw into serious doubt, the proficiency of our military without prejudice to the enormous sacrifices and personal risks to their life in the prosecution of that war. Again, for a war that has been touted won, accepting the excuse of operational mistake coveys the miserable impression of exaggerated claims regarding its overall progress. We do not expect a war that has been won to produce complex situations that confused our military to the extent of bombing a camp it set up and privy to.

What signals did the pilot see on ground to confirm these were terrorists? And if terrorists could still gather in such large numbers requiring an air force plane to be dispatched to bomb them, what remains of the claim of the defeat of the insurgency group?

Overall, it would appear there is more to the circumstances leading to the disaster than ordinarily meets the eyes. In the face of recent disclosures that some soldiers sympathetic to the cause of the insurgents would face trial for cattle rustling to fund the terrorists, the presence of moles even with the progress made in the war can no longer be discounted.

These are some of the possibilities to be looked into instead of the offhand dismissal of the fatal onslaught as a mere mistake. It could as well turn out a mistake. But that can only be determined through a thorough and unbiased investigation. Nigerian Air Force cannot investigate itself on this matter and expect an impartial report.

It would appear the nation is not being fed the right information on the overall progress of that war. And the reason is not farfetched. It hovers around the urge to take quick credit for having defeated the insurgents in keeping with campaign promises. Having failed to meet the first deadline, the government seems in a hurry to announce a conclusion of the war a year after.

Ironically, as it goes about this, issues arise casting serious doubt to the claim. That was the position a year ago when it announced a technical defeat of the insurgents. The same trend re-enacted last week with the fatalities recorded in the IDP camp. The problem is with the negative politics we had played with the war against Boko Haram. We seem caught up by the monsters we created.

  • Amosun, Aregbesola, Wike hail military on defeat of insurgents

Governors Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Rauf Aregbesola (Osun) and Nyesom Wike (Rivers) have hailed President Muhammadu Buhari as well as officers and men of the Armed Forces for their gallantry and success in the fight against the Boko Haram insurgency.

Amosun gave his commendation while speaking after inspecting a special parade by the Nigerian Legion, Navy and Army at the 2017 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration at the Arcade Ground, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, yesterday.

Thanking the military for restoring peace in the Northeast, Amosun urged Nigerians to live in unity, irrespective of differences in gender, tribe, religion and political affiliations.

The governor, top officers in the military and paramount rulers laid wreaths at the cenotaph in honour of fallen heroes.

The governor also released 57 white pigeons as a symbol of national peace, with each pigeon representing the 20 local governments and 37 local council development areas.

The fallen heroes were later honoured with a 21-gun salute.

Aregbesola hailed Buhari, ýthe Nigeria Armed forces and other security organisations for subduing the activities of Boko Haram group in the Northeast.

The governor spoke at the grand finale of the 2017 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration, at the Military Cenotaph, Osogbo.

Aregbesola lauded security agencies for destroying the Sambisa Forest base of the group.

According to him, the nation would not forget the gallant soldiers and security officials, whose lives have been lost in the cause of putting down the Boko Haram uprising.

He also commiserated with the government and people of Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Gombe, Bauchi, Taraba and others caught in the throes of the group, whose people have been brutalised, killed or kidnapped and many now in Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps.

Aregbesola added that the annual remembrance of fallen heroes and survivors of the Nigeria Army would be incomplete, if the country failed to retrace its past and device popular means of living in unity.

In Port Harcourt, Wike noted that the President and service chiefs deserved commendation for strengthening the armed forces to take up on the elements, who had been threatening the country’s peace.

At the event, Wike announced a N100 million empowerment scheme aimed at improving the living condition of the families of deceased ex-servicemen and legionnaires.

  • Fifth consecutive defeat: Moses hails Chelsea backline

Fifth consecutive defeat: Moses hails Chelsea backline

Nigeria international Victor Moses was delighted with Chelsea’s clean sheet in their 5-0 hammering of one of the best defensive sides in the Premier League, Everton on Saturday night.

Antonio Conte’s side have not conceded a goal in the English top-flight since they were humiliated 3-0 by Arsenal at the Emirates on September 24, and Moses has been instrumental to the shutouts posted by goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

“Fantastic win today! Great team performance and another clean sheet too #CFC, ”Victor Moses remarked on Twitter last night.

The 25-year-old Moses has started each of the last five games contested by Chelsea in the Premier League, logging 434 minutes.
