    Father ‘defiles’ physically challenged daughter in Lagos

    Operatives of the Lagos Police Command have arrested a man, Peter Onehi, 48, for allegedly defiling his teenage daughter living with disability.

    The incident occurred about 8:30pm on April 29,  at Amukoko, Orile.

    The suspect was alleged to have committed incest with his 16-year-old daughter on several occasions before he was allegedly caught in the act on that day.

    Police said the suspect was taken into custody and the victim moved to the General Hospital, Ajeromi for examination and treatment, adding that investigation was in progress.

    The command also arrested a man, Best Orji, 39, for allegedly defiling his two underage daughters.

    His arrest followed a complaint by his wife on April 30, at Surulere Police Division that her husband allegedly defiled their daughters aged 12 and 14.

    Police said medical reports were obtained from a Sexual Assault Referral Center

    (SARC), adding that the suspect was arraigned on May 9, for defilement under section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

    Man, 48, ‘defiles’ daughter

    A 48-year-old man, Adamu Ibrahim Umaru, who according to police is also facing an attempted murder case in Abuja, has been paraded by the Zone 6 Police Command in Cross River for allegation of defiling and impregnating his 15-year-old daughter.

    The suspect was arrested on Friday based on petition by one Ms Aisha, the victim’s aunt.

    The command spokesperson, SP Nelson Okpabi told Journalists in Calabar, upon parading the suspect, that “The personnel of the Zonal Human Rights Unit acting on a petition referred to the team for investigation, on November 15, apprehended Umaru.

    The spokesman said that the petitioner had stated that she noticed the changes in the girl’s physiology and took her to the hospital where a test that was conducted confirmed her to be nine weeks pregnant.

    The police said the victim in her statement, alleged her father, Umaru is responsible for the pregnancy. She added that her father started having illicit affairs with her in 2023 in a hotel located in Calabar and had threatened to kill her if she revealed this to anyone.

    “She was further examined by a medical doctor in the Police hospital, Calabar and the result validated the earlier report submitted by her aunt.  The manager of the hotel in his statement also admitted that he had seen the suspect severally with the victim in the hotel booking temporary accommodation, but never knew she was his daughter,” Okpabi said.

    While speaking with journalists, the suspect denied the allegation and appealed for him to be released to attend another urgent matter in an Abuja court.

    “I am due to appear tomorrow in a court at Federal High Court in Abuja over murder charges and I did not even commit what is being alleged off against my daughter,” he appealed.

    Although the suspect denied the allegation on interrogation and noted that he could not explain how his daughter got pregnant under his watch having separated from her biological mother years back.

  • Teenager ‘defiles’ three stepsisters

    An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court yesterday remanded a 14-year-old boy for allegedly defiling his three stepsisters.

    Chief Magistrate Olufunke Sule-Amzat ordered that the teenager be remanded at the Oregun Correctional Home for Boys.

    She directed that  a copy of the case file be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.

    The accused, who lives at 11, Olayinka Adenubi Street, Mafoluku, Oshodi, Lagos, is facing a three-count charge of defilement, indecent assault and sexual abuse.

    The accused’s mother, Ihuoma Oke, is facing a charge of parental neglect.

    The teenager pleaded not guilty.

    Prosecuting Inspector Simeon Imhonwa said the accused committed the offences last November at his residence.

    He said the accused forcefully had carnal knowledge of the victims aged two, five and 10.

    “The accused sexually abused his stepsisters and unlawfully had sexual intercourse with them.

    “The victims, however, told their care giver, the case was reported to the police and the accused was arrested,” the prosecutor said.

    The case continues on April 8.

  • Man, 34, ‘defiles’ girl, 7

    An Ebute Metta Magistrates’ Court has ordered that a 34-year old man, Best Oji, be remanded in Kirikiri Prison for allegedly defiling a seven-year-old girl.

    Magistrate Bola Osunsanmi said the suspect would remain in custody pending advice by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

    Prosecutor Donny Raphael alleged that Oji started defiling the girl in the last one year at their house at Kakaremo Street, Shasha, Lagos.

    He said the lid blew open  this year when the minor noticed changes in her body.

    “They interrogated her and she revealed what Oji did to her,” Raphael said.

    He said the matter was reported to the Shasha Police Division and Oji was arrested.

    The prosecutor said the matter was transferred to the Gender Section of the Lagos State Command and Oji was arraigned for alleged child defilement.

    The court did not take his plea when the charge was read to him.

    Raphael said the DPP’s advice was neccessary because the child is a minor.

    Mrs. Osunsanmi directed the prosecutor to send a copy of the charge to the DPP.

  • Man ‘defiles’ speech-impaired teenager

    The police in Lagos have arrested 40-year-old Mukaila Aliu for alleged sexual assault on a speech-impaired teenager.

    Aliu, a resident of 17, Peluola Street, Mafoluku, Oshodi, Lagos, was arrested on November 19, a year after committing the alleged offence.

    The suspect was said to have been on the run since November 10 last year when he allegedly lured the victim under the guise that he wanted to buy noodles for her.

    The 16-year-old victim was said to have followed Aliu to an abandoned shop on Oshodi Road where he allegedly raped her.

    Passersby reportedly caught him in the act, but the suspect fled and had remained in hiding until November 19, when he was seen demanding levy from a property developer, claiming to be an ‘Omo onile’ (child of owner of land).

    The Nation learnt that unfortunately for him, a worker at the site recognised him and alerted the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Makinde Police Station, Mafoluku, Oshodi, who arrested him and handed him over to the Gender Section of the command for investigation.

    Confirming the incident, police spokesman Chike Oti said the suspect would be arraigned at a Family Court tomorrow.

    He said the command also nabbed a 56-year-old guard, Bello, who allegedly defiled his daughter every night and forced her to drink contraceptives.

    Oti said: “The guard used to work at a school in Lagos. I will not give his name and that of the school for the sake of the minor.

    “But the suspect was reported by the school authorities that he had been having sex with his daughter, who lived with him in a room given to him by the school management.

    “According to the minor, her father sleeps with her every night. Thereafter he gives her contraceptives to prevent her from becoming pregnant.

    “We also arrested Chika Okafor, 39, a resident of 3/16, Oketa Street, Mende, Maryland who on October 17, raped a 15-year-old girl and shaved her pubic hair.

    “The teenager ran from home because her mother threatened to beat her up for losing an important item. The suspect carried her in his car and took her to a beer parlour where he convinced her to take alcoholic drinks.

    “Being her first time to indulge in such habit, the girl became drunk after guzzling several bottles of alcoholic drinks. Seeing the condition of the minor, he took her to a hotel at Oshodi.

    “At that point, the little girl, whom he had undressed, told him to let her be because she was a virgin, but he shaved her pubic hair, defiled her and kept the pubic hair.

    “The following morning, the suspect took her to his friend’s home in Maryland, Lagos and had sex with her again. He thereafter took the minor in his car and dropped her at the nearest location to her parents’ house.

    “The girl narrated her ordeal to her mum and she petitioned Police Commissioner Imohimi Edgal, who ordered a manhunt for the suspect. He was arrested on November 24 by detectives attached to the Gender Unit of the command. The suspects will be arraigned at the Family Court tomorrow.”

    An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court yesterday remanded a 42-year-old building contractor, Isaac Yakubu, in Kirikiri Prison following his arraignment for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s 11-year-old daughter.

    Chief Magistrate P. E. Nwaka said Yakubu should remain behind bars, pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

    Yakubu, who lives at 4, Mustapha Adeleke Street, Abule -Odu, Egbeda, allegedlly committed the offence on July 18 at his residence.

    Prosecuting police officer Christopher John said the victim lost her money when she was sent on an errand.

    “When the girl was crying to the house, the accused who lives in the same compound, gave her N200 and lured her to a nearby uncompleted building where he defiled her

    “The girl cried as she went home and told her mother what happened.

    “The case was reported to the police and the accused was arrested,” he told the court.

    The offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

    The case continues on September 9.

  • Man ‘defiles’ stepdaughter

    A 42-year-old stepfather, Oluwadare Joseph,  charged with allegedly defiling his 16-year-old stepdaughter for seven years, was yesterday remanded in Kirikiri Prisons, Lagos, on the orders of an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

    Magistrate B.O. Osunsanmi refused the bail application of the accused and ordered that he be remanded in prison pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

    The accused, a resident of Meiran, Lagos, is standing trial for defilement.

    According to the prosecutor, Ezekiel Ayorinde, the accused allegedly committed the offence between 2011 and 2018 at his home.

    He alleged that the accused had been forcefully having sexual intercourse with his 16-year-old step-daughter since she was nine years.

    “The accused had been having carnal knowledge of the girl since when her mother married him seven years ago.

    “The accused always beat and threatened to kill her whenever she tried to resist him.

    “The teenager reported the matter to her mother, but she did not take action.’’

    Ayorinde said the girl ran from home to avoid constant sexual abuse by the accused.

    “After some days, the girl resurfaced and told the police why she ran from home; this led to the arrest of the accused,’’ the prosecutor said.

    The offence contravenes Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).

    The case was adjourned till May 31.

     

  • Man, 52, ‘defiles’ nine-year-old girl

    A 52-year-OLD man, Gabriel Olaniyan, was yesterday arraigned at an Ibadan Chief Magistrates’ Court in Oyo State for allegedly defiling a nine-year-old girl.

    He was arraigned on a one-count charge of having carnal knowledge of the minor.

    The prosecutor, Mrs. Folake Ewe, told the court that the accused, on March 1, about 5 pm, in Alapafon, Ibadan, did have carnal knowledge of the minor.

    She said the offence was contrary to and punishable under Section 218 of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol.II Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria 2000.

    The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. N.A.J. Ogunbona, asked the accused why he defiled the minor, wondering whether it was for ritual or he wanted to marry her.

    She asked what the accused used to entice the girl.

    Olaniyan claimed it was a mistake, saying he used N10 biscuit to entice her.

    The victim’s father, simply identified as Mr. Adeleke, told the court that her daughter was returning from a qu’ranic school when Olaniyan accosted and defiled her.

    The chief magistrate condemned those fond of defiling minors, saying they allowed the devil to use them to destroy the society.

    She urged parents and guardians to monitor their children and wards.

    Ogunbona ordered that the accused be remanded in Agodi Prison pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).

    He adjourned the case till April 5.

  • School supervisor defiles two pupils, says witness

    An Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court has heard that Adegboyega Adenekan, 47,  a supervisor at Chrisland School in Lekki, Lagos, sexually assaulted two underage pupils who are under his care

    A clinical psychologist, Miss Olive Ogedengbe, told Justice Sybil Nwaka during ‘s trial for alleged child defilement that his other victim was a friend of ‘Child X’.

    Led in evidence by the Chief State counsel, Mr Jide Boye, Ogedengbe said she visited the mother of Child X’s friend,   but the woman declined  to be involved in the case for fear of stigmatisation.

    The witness told the court that the entire interaction she and her colleague had with Child X was recorded to ensure her story remains consistent.

    The court admitted in evidence the video recording of the two years, 11-month old pupil, tagged Child X, which detailed her defilement by Adenekan.

    The video recording was played during the testimony given by Miss Ogedengbe, during the trial of Adenekan that lasted more than four hours.

    Ogedengbe, the clinical psychologist and Masters Degree holder in clinical psychology,  is certified in sexual and reproductive health behaviour in children and adolescents with over ten years work experience with children and adolescents.

    The video recording marked Exhibit A1 by the court showed the child in the psychologist’s office answering questions about the alleged defilement from Ogedengbe and her colleague when they visited on November 28, 2016.

    She said from her evaluation, the mother and Child X needed psychological help.

    Under cross examination by Mr Olatunde Adejuyigbe (SAN), counsel to Adenekan, Ogedengbe said Child X was not tutored on what to say during the interview by neither herself nor her mother.

    She told the court that they used projective techniques in which a client projects their subconscious minds on paper.

    Justice  Nwaka adjourned the case till March 21.

  • Man, 50, ‘defiles’ neighbour’s underage daughters

    The police have accused a 50-year-old man, Okon Etim, of defiling two children of his neighbours aged eight and nine years’ old.

    Etim was arraigned yesterday at a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court on a four-count charge of defilement, unlawful treatment and unlawful detainment.

    Prosecuting Sergeant Anthonia Osayande told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offences on August 15 at No. 32, Ogunsanmi Street, Itire, around 4pm.

    She alleged that Etim, who was a neighbour of the girls’ parents, had sexual intercourse with them at different times.

    “Being a neighbour to the girls, who are on vacation from school, and their parents had gone to work, he lured the girls to his room and defiled them.”

    The offences, according to the prosecutor, contravened Sections 135(1) 137, and 144(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

    The defendant pleaded not guilty.

    Magistrate Aro Lambo granted him N300,000 bail with two sureties in the like sum, one of whom must be his blood relation, while the second surety should be a civil servant of not less than Grade Level 14.

    The case was adjourned till October 5 for advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
