  • Guard remanded for allegedly defiling daughter

    An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State yesterday remanded a 58-year-old guard, Okon Johnson, in Kirikiri prison for allegedly defiling his 14-year-old daughter.

    He was arraigned before Magistrate Bola Osunsanmi on a one-count charge of child defilement preferred against him by the police.

    Prosecutor Rapheal Dony said the offence was committed last month about 16.00 hours at their home, 25, Charismatic Road, Abule Gbaga, Ijede Road, Ikorodu, Lagos.

    Okon, it was alleged, took advantage of the absence of his wife to defile his daughter each time he brought her back from school.

    The mother, who was said to be working in a far place, only came home at the end of every month.

    After the charge was read, Magistrate Osunsanmi did not take his plea.

    She ordered Okon to be remanded in Kirikiri prison and adjourned the matter till January 23.

     

     

  • Man held for allegedly defiling daughter

    •’My wife caused it’

    A 30-year-old man, Basiru Audu, has been arrested for allegedly defiling his six-year-old daughter.

    He blamed his wife for the crime, saying her frequent travel made him to be sexually starved.

    Audu said his wife travelled a lot and he slept with his daughter when he became sexually aroused.

    “I blame my wife for not being around when I need sex. She travels a lot. That was why I had to sleep with my daughter. What a shameful thing I have done.

    “That night, I had the urge to have sex. Since my wife was not around, I had no option but to sleep with my daughter, to ease tension.”

    The Nation learnt that the wife frequently travelled for business and the incident occurred when she travelled to their hometown, Daura, in Katsina State.

    It was gathered that the suspect sneaked into the children’s room and had sex with the victim.

    Audu confessed that he had been having sex with underage girls before he defiled his daughter.

    A neighbour, who noticed the girl’s abnormal gait, reported Audu to the police.

    The suspect said he regretted his action and begged for forgiveness.

    Niger State Command spokesman Muhammad Abubakar described the incident as sad.

    He said the suspect would be arraigned after investigation.

  • Artisan remanded in prison for ‘defiling’ daughter, 4

    An upholstery maker, Taiwo Opasina, 29, who is facing a three-count charge of incest, has been remanded in prison by an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court.

    The accused was arraigned for unlawful and indecent assault, unlawful sexual intercourse and penetrative sex with a minor.

    He pleaded not guilty.

    Prosecuting Inspector Chinalu Uwadione alleged that the accused committed the offences in December 2017 at 17, Magbaola Street, Badore in Ajah, a Lagos suburb.

    He told the court that the accused on several occasions defiled his daughter and inserted his fingers into the private part of the four-year-old (names withheld).

    “The teacher in the school of the victim noticed that she had been lately withdrawn and quiet.

    “On enquiry, she told the teacher about her father’s act,” he said.

    Chief Magistrate A. Ipaye-Nwachukwu remanded the accused in prison and ordered that his bail  be  secured at the special offences court.

    She adjourned the case till April 9 for receipt of legal advice from the state Director of Public Prosecution.

  • Court remands dad accused of defiling daughter

    An Ikeja Magistrate Court yesterday remanded in kirikiri prison 34 year old Kennedy Udoh, who is being tried for allegedly  defiling his 16-year old daughter. Udoh, will be in custody till October 11.

    Udoh was alleged to have been sexually involved with his daughter since she was 13.

    The girl allegedly went through an abortion last year after she became pregnant.

    Udoh was said to have told the police that he was trying his sexual prowess by sleeping with his daughter.

    A neighbour was said to have alerted to the Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team (DSVRT), which reported the case to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at Anthony Village Police Station.

    The charge against him, according to prosecuting police, Sergeant Olakunle Orebe is: “That you Kennedy Udoh, 34, sometimes in the year 2013 till date, at Kode Street, Mende, Maryland in the Lagos Magisterial district did unlawfully had sexual intercourse with your daughter (names withheld) and hereby committed an offence punishable under section 137 Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011”.Udoh pleaded not guilty.

    Magistrate Bola Osunsanmi remanded him in Kirikiri till October 11.
