    • …Barr Loyibo’s death, a monumental loss to Delta, Nigeria—APC Leadership

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has extended its condolences to the Traditional Prime Minister of Tuomo Kingdom in Delta and Bayelsa States, High Chief Mike Loyibo Esq, on the passing of his elder brother, Chief (Barr) Lucky Ekayama Loyibo (JP).

In a condolence message issued by the party’s state leadership, signed by the publicity secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo Esq, the party expressed deep shock at the demise of Barr Loyibo, considering the incident a monumental loss, not merely to his immediate family, but to Delta State and Nigeria as a whole.

The statement read, “We write to convey our deepest condolences to you, the Loyibo family, the Tuomo Kingdom, and the entire Ijaw nation on the painful passing of your illustrious elder brother, Late Chief (Barr) Lucky Ekayama Loyibo, JP.

“The demise of Chief Lucky Ekayama Loyibo is a monumental loss – not only to his immediate family, but also to Delta State and Nigeria at large. He was a consummate legal practitioner, an accomplished statesman and a bridge-builder whose life was defined by service, integrity and unwavering commitment to justice and community development.”

The party further declared that the late Loyibo excelled in every facet of public service, emphasizing that from his influential roles in local government administration to his contributions at the federal level, notably within the National Assembly and the Presidential Amnesty Programme, he unfailingly exhibited exceptional leadership qualities and an insightful comprehension of the Niger Delta issue.

“It was therefore not surprising that in his final service in the Delta State Judiciary Service Commission, he further underscored his dedication to the rule of law, institutional integrity, and uncommon fidelity.

“As a proud son of Tuomo Kingdom and the Ijaw nation, his chieftaincy titles – Amatelemowei of Obotebe Kingdom and Ebikonbo-owei of Tuomo Kingdom – were clear affirmations of a life lived in defence of his people, their dignity and their future. He wore these titles with honour and responsibility.

“The Delta APC recognizes that this loss is deeply personal. As Prime Minister of the Tuomo Kingdom and a brother, the vacuum left behind is immeasurable. We pray that you find strength in the enduring legacy of excellence, service, and honour that Chief Lucky Ekayama Loyibo has left behind, one that will continue to inspire generations yet unborn.

“May the Almighty God grant you, the Loyibo family, and the entire Tuomo Kingdom the fortitude to bear this great loss, and may the gentle soul of our departed leader rest in perfect peace”, the statement read.

Delta APC stakeholders meet in Asaba, emphasise unity ahead of congresses

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State on Friday gathered at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Asaba, where they stressed the need for unity, electronic registration and grassroots mobilisation as part of preparations for the party’s forthcoming congresses and the 2027 general elections.

Addressing leaders and members, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori stressed that leadership derives its legitimacy from the people and must be guided by humility, empathy and service.

He urged stakeholders to place collective interest above personal considerations, resist division and avoid unnecessary conflicts, noting that unity remains the party’s greatest strength.

The governor said meetings of this nature provide opportunities to review progress, strengthen structures and prepare for critical political milestones, adding that mobilisation, registration and participation would ultimately determine electoral outcomes.

While stressing the need for them to deliver massive votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all other elective positions in the 2027 elections, he said the number of votes they are able to deliver will determine their strength and what they are able to attract at the federal level.

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Chief Festus Keyamo, SAN, urged members to maintain focus as the party approaches congresses, praising the progress recorded in the e-registration exercise and the party’s growing diversity.

He cautioned against rumours and delays, called for early engagement and consensus-building at the local level, and advised dialogue to reduce tension.

Immediate past Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, thanked Governor Oborevwori for convening the meeting and described his visit to Government House after many years as a gesture of inclusiveness.

He pledged to work in unity with Governor Oborevwori and other stakeholders to strengthen the APC.

Former Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, commended stakeholders for their unity and sustained engagement, urging intensified grassroots mobilisation to deepen e-registration by taking the exercise to homes and communities.

He emphasised inclusiveness, and consensus in the conduct of congresses, praising Oborevwori’s role in fostering harmony and urging leaders to return to their constituencies with renewed commitment.

National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Felix Morka, lauded Governor Oborevwori’s leadership and the digitalisation of the party’s membership register, recommending a consensus approach for the forthcoming congresses.

In his welcome remarks, State APC Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, said the party had recorded over 90 per cent realignment since April 2025, describing the gathering as evidence of growing unity and momentum.

On e-registration and congress preparations, Delta North APC Chairman, Ogbueshi Adizue Eluaka, noted peace in the district but highlighted challenges with registration.

Delta Central Chairman, Chief Paulinus Akpeki, reported progress with Okpe Local Government leading statewide and appealed for restraint pending guidelines, while Delta South Chairman, Prince Austin Oribioye, urged the resolution of technical glitches to meet targets.

The State E-Registration Coordinator, Prince Fred Mordi, said Delta State was selected to host the South-South training, reporting rising registration figures despite minor challenges and expressed confidence in meeting targets before the deadline.

A minute’s silence was observed in honour of the late Senator Peter Nwaoboshi who represented Delta North Senatorial District at the Senate.

Delta APC chieftains vow sweeping victory for Tinubu, Oborevwori

Top chieftains of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, have thrown their weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, vowing to deliver a sweeping victory in the 2027 general elections.

The political heavyweights from across Delta’s three senatorial districts, who stormed Ughelli at the weekend to unveil a new political pressure group, Ukodo Nation Forum (UNF), reiterated a growing mantra: “There’s no vacancy in Aso Rock or Osadebey House come 2027.”

Convened by renowned businessman and elder statesman, Olorogun Morrison Olori, the Obaseki of Ughelli Kingdom, the event saw a fusion of APC stalwarts, former government officials, and grassroots mobilisers rally behind the “Tinubu-Oborevwori 2027” ticket.

“The movement is ready. 100 per cent votes for Tinubu and Oborevwori. Let no one be deceived, 2027 is sealed!” declared Olori, the 80-year old, to thunderous applause.

Olori praised Tinubu’s economic reforms, crediting them with ending the era of unpaid salaries and reviving infrastructural development nationwide.

Reps member Waive wants Delta APC to adopt Oborevwori in 2027

The member representing Ughelli North, Ughelli South, and Udu Federal Constituency (Rev) Francis Ejiroghene Waive, has urged the Delta chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to adopt Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as its sole gubernatorial candidate for the 2027 elections.

Speaking to journalists during the week, Waive emphasised that Governor Oborevwori’s strong rapport with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu demonstrates his deep understanding of governance.

He also lauded the Governor’s performance, stating that “Gov Sheriff has shocked every Deltan with his people-oriented programs and quality projects.”

According to Waive: “It will be impossible for any other candidate to beat Gov Sheriff come 2027,” adding that his coming to APC is value addition and that this will bring an immediate end to the crisis engulfing the party in the State.

“I can see Gov Sheriff Oborevwori and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu coasting to victory on the APC ticket. This synergy is what APC Delta needs at this moment. Not only will this bring peace to the party, it will make victory very certain.”

The lawmaker further highlighted that the principle of governorship rotation among Delta’s three senatorial districts favors Oborevwori, who would be serving only one more term.

He called on all Deltans to support this move, emphasizing that it would strengthen party unity and enhance the state’s development.

“I want victory for my party and for President Tinubu. This is the way to go. Moreover the rotation of the Governorship between the three Senatorial Districts favors Governor Sheriff who has only one term left. I call on all Deltans to support this move as it will further unite us as a people,” he added

  • Delta APC’s quest for unity, cohesion

Delta APC’s quest for unity, cohesion

    By Kennedy Bienose

By now, it should be crystal clear to all students of politics, especially unbiased members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, that the Leadership Council (by the way, this unconstitutional political contraption would have been inaugurated by now if not for the swift decisive intervention of the National Working Committee) being proposed by some leaders as panacea for peace and unity among stakeholders of the Party is decidedly skewed against one target: Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, former Deputy President of the Senate and gubernatorial candidate in 2023 general elections.

An objective review of the event staged recently at Ughelli to welcome Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru back APC is all that one needs to reach this valid inference.

At the Sunday, March 9, 2025, event, leader after leader who spoke wilfully avoided referencing the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or how the party’s hegemony and asphyxiating approach to governance has underdeveloped the oil-rich state. Nobody dared to utter a word about the astronomical inflow of federal allocations in recent times with no corresponding development on ground. The opposition and antagonistic instincts in all of these leaders suddenly died that day.

A demon, sadly, must have sat on their respective tongue.

    Or, so it seemed.

Ironically, the same leaders who, even as opposition symbols, were very loud in their silence about the ruinous PDP, sounded vitriolic and unbridled in their veiled verbal assault on one of their own. In fact, their vitupetations were as torrential as they were scathing.

Like a festering sore, their bileful venom became a seething denominator of their respective remarks.

Listening to these supposed leaders of the Party, one would have mistaken the event for a PDP gathering.

Tactically speaking, I think it was. I strongly suspect that it was all a decoy, though the level of success at masking the event is open for debate.

The Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Olorogun Festus Keyamo (SAN), did not disappoint.

For an opposition figure who had publicly endorsed Governor Sheriff Oborevweri at his son’s wedding reception in Asaba, it was only natural that he avoided speaking ill of the PDP like a plague.

Even the glaring insidious slow pace of governance of this incompetent incumbent administration escaped his radar.

Yet, he was very vehement in declaring that “this Party belongs to all of us, not for one person” as if the ‘ownership’ of the Party was an issue. Would the Party faithful who had thronged the venue be gathered if they felt alienated in any way? Didn’t even President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Leader of the Party, reportedly declare that there was no leadership vacuum in the Delta State Chapter of the Party?

Why was such a needless point so important to emphasise on a defection ground?

The only politically expedient statement credited to the Honourable Minister at that occassion was his misplaced optimism that Mr. President’s re-election come 2027 was a fait accompli.

How the divisive politics he apparently promoted with both his disposition and utterances at the event will yield such an electoral outcome, more so that he is reputed to be grossly deficient in grassroots affinity and support, leaves a sour taste in the mouth.

Not surprisingly, the Honourable Minister’s example turned out to be a sacred template as speaker after speaker literally hurled their verbal missiles at the same imaginary sole administrator of the Party, vouchsafing no word against the PDP that they hope to unseat in 2027.

From the member representing Ughelli North/Ughelli South/Udu Federal Constituency, the Reverend Francis Waive, who, like the minister, had openly endorsed Governor Oborevweri for a second tenure; to the State Chairman of the party, Elder Omeni Sobotie; to the pioneer Leader and Governorship candidate in 2015, Olorogun O’tega Emerho; to a former Minister of State of Niger Delta and Director-General, APC governorship Campaign Council in 2023, Elder Godsday Orubebe; to the Executive Director of NEXIM Bank, Stella Okotete, and so on, none offered any critique of the PDP-led administration in the state. Yet, they were unanimous in casting aspersions on an unnamed political common ‘enemy.’

Even the way the new entrant and serial governorship contestant, Chief Ogboru, spoke against this same imaginary political foe, left many discerning observers wondering whether his defection was altruistic or he had just been recruited to swell the ranks of unrepentant haters of a common enemy. Such palpable pettiness was totally needless, and must be avoided if the Party must avoid the mistakes of the past and wax stronger.

Significantly, the political import of the Ughelli jamboree and show of shame was not lost on the prying PDP. Barely had the event ended when Ossai Ovie Success, an appointee of Governor Oborevweri and PDP frontline propagandist, penned a disjointed article to taunt the organisers and proponents of the leadership council who spoke at the event.

In the piece titled:”How Sheriff Successes Wipe Out APC’s Hopes, Despite Ogboru’s Defection”, the Governor’s media aide did a forensic analysis of the remarks made at that event and reached a conclusion that the event defeated its very essence. Precisely, he noted that “it seemed like every leader who took the microphone had something positive to say about Governor Oborevweri’s perfomarce”, infering that it was “a testament to Gov. Oborevweri’s exceptional leadership and his commitment to serving the people.” He even enthused that, considering the tacit endorsement of these opposition figures, Governor Oborevweri’s re-election bid was steadily on course. Haba!

But who can fault or blame this opportunistic PDP apologist for this blatant wholesale mockery of our dear Party and its leaders? Unlike the leaders who converged on Ughelli to ventilate vengeful animosity, the former Deputy President of the Senate and charismatic Leader of the APC in Delta State, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, just concluded a tour of the 25 local government areas to, ostensibly, thank Party faithful for their steadfastness and re-energize the grassroots base of the Party. It bears mentioning that, through out the tour which he personally bankrolled, the Obarisi of Urhobo Land, insulted or castigated no leader of the Party.

Instead, he spoke as the unmistakable authentic voice of opposition: indicting the PDP and demanding accountability from the Governor with regards to the over N1trillion allocations he has received since assuming office.

His salvo so rattled the PDP-led government that the Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagwu, went into overdrive in his desperate efforts to debunk some of the salient issues raised.

Leadership, at any level, is functional, not titular.

Between a man whose sagacious leadership culminated in the Party winning two senatorial seats, one House of Representatives, and seven House of Assembly seats in the 2023 general elections and a college of self-styled leaders who appear hellbent on settling old political scores than advancing a common cause, the people shouldn’t have any difficult zeroing-in on who can – and should – lead them.

It is about time these leaders jettisoned their ego and sacrificed personal ambition on the altar of collective interest.

Fostering harmony and cohesion within Delta APC ahead of the 2027 election circle is not rocket science.

Instead, it is a collective responsilibity that has become imperative for the realization of the common good. Insisting on an unconstitutional Leadership Council, driven by some bile-filled vengeful proponents with a predetermined outcome as can be gleaned from the Ughelli event, shouldn’t be the only pathway to unity.

A cocktail of sincere reconciliation, wholesome integration, and selfless sacrifice will do the magic – any day, any time.

  • Omo-Agege earned leadership of Delta APC, deserves support – Emiko

Omo-Agege earned leadership of Delta APC, deserves support – Emiko

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State and a prominent prince of Warri Kingdom, Prince Yemi Emiko, has declared that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has rightfully earned the leadership of the APC in Delta State.

Speaking at an interactive meeting with leaders and stakeholders hosted by Warri South LGA, Emiko criticised those attempting to claim party leadership without tangible contributions to the party’s success.

He said that leadership is earned, not enforced or acquired, and expressed dismay that individuals who contributed little to APC’s historic victories in Delta were positioning themselves as leaders through media appearances.

Emiko, who was the APC Delta South senatorial candidate in the 2015 elections, stressed that political leadership must be built from the grassroots.

He urged those aspiring for leadership to return to their units and wards, mobilise support and show results.

“All politics is local. If you want to lead, you must deliver your ward and local government. Omo-Agege has earned the leadership of Delta APC through hard work and grassroots mobilisation—not by making empty claims on social media,” he stated.

He called on APC leaders and members to unite behind Omo-Agege, stating that if the party remains solidly behind him, it will sweep PDP out of Delta in 2027.

According to him: “Omo-Agege, you have earned the leadership of Delta APC. Those jumping around in Abuja have no local base. Elections are not won on social media but through grassroots mobilisation.

“Leadership is about results, and with APC winning two out of three senatorial seats for the first time in Delta’s history, there is no doubt that Omo-Agege is our leader.”

Omo-Agege expressed gratitude to APC leaders and members for their sacrifice and unwavering support.

He acknowledged that while APC secured significant victories in the Senate and House of Assembly elections, it fell short of clinching the governorship. However, he remained optimistic about the party’s future.

On internal party disputes, Omo-Agege said that while reconciliation is important, it must be genuine and not just political rhetoric.

“I don’t know any politician who doesn’t want reconciliation. Everyone talks about it because, as they say, talk is cheap. But let’s be honest—talking is easy; real reconciliation requires action. We have done everything possible, and we are still ready to do more, but only if it is genuine and based on a shared determination to win.”

He criticised past “purported attempts” at reconciliation, stating that no real efforts had been made to bring opposing party leaders together for meaningful discussions since the 2023 elections. Instead, false narratives were pushed, claiming that certain person and his team rejected reconciliation.

“The last thing we heard was, ‘They don’t want reconciliation.’ That was the story. But was there ever a real attempt to reconcile? No. It was all talk, and talk alone doesn’t build unity. In politics, no one can win an election alone—it takes a collective effort.”

Reflecting on the 2023 elections in Warri South LGA, Omo-Agege said after reviewing the results, he believed APC had actually won, despite alterations. “Even with the changes made to the results, the margin was very small. We know we won in this local government. But moving forward, we must be more vigilant and strategic to prevent any manipulation.”

Looking ahead to 2027, Omo-Agege urged his supporters to remain focused, work harder, and strengthen the party’s grassroots presence. He acknowledged the sabotage that occurred during the last election, noting that the APC will be better prepared next time to forestall internal sabotage. Additionally, he said the party will take steps to prevent the falsification of election results.

Omo-Agege urged APC members to stay united and committed to the party’s success, stressing that Delta’s future depends on collective effort and holding leaders accountable. “We must work together. The task ahead is not just about politics—it is about securing the future of Delta State. With unity, strategy, and determination, we will take APC to victory in 2027,” he said.

Delta APC emerging stronger, Omo-Agege declares

    …welcomes Ibori’s daughter

Immediate past deputy Senate president, Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC), Delta state chapter of the party is emerging stronger to dislodge the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the next elections.

The Delta APC leader stated this at Oghara, Ethiope West local government area, where he officially welcomed Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, daughter of former Governor James Ibori and her teaming supporters, including former top PDP leaders who defected to the party.

His declaration comes amidst leadership wrangling in the State APC.

He berated successive PDP-led governments in the State, stating that there has not been serious governance in the state since Chief Ibori left office in 2003.

According to him, “Delta State has benefited significantly from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government policies, particularly the removal of petrol subsidies and the flotation of the naira, resulting in increased FAAC allocations.

“These policies have caused hardship, but they are necessary to transition our economy from import-dependent to producing and job-creating. We acknowledge that achieving this long-term goal will take time, although we have started to see gains in better growth rates, declining imports, higher exports, and higher income for farmers.

“However, it is disappointing that the Delta State government has not utilized these increased allocations effectively to alleviate hardship and develop the state.

“In the past year and a half, despite receiving over N900 billion from FAAC, including IGR, the Delta State government has failed to develop the state. Instead, they have used these funds to service debts and cater to godfathers. We must root out these unproductive leaders and build a brighter future for Delta State”.

He added: “Apart from the N86 billion flyover bridge at Effurun, there are no other major projects that you can trace to this huge resource that has come to Delta. Almost all the internal roads are in bad shape. It is clear that the Delta State government has misplaced its priorities, choosing to use these funds to service debts and finance personal ambitions, such as Okowa’s failed Vice Presidential bid and Oborovwori’s governorship, rather than investing in the development of the state and the welfare of its citizens”.

Senator Omo-Agege, however, assured Deltans of better days, noting that the “case of Delta is not hopeless; it’s redeemable. Delta APC is emerging stronger, and we will take the state in 2027”.

He urged APC leaders and faithful to work for unity and join forces to root out the unproductive PDP government in Delta to build a new Delta State.

“I have had the pleasure of knowing Hon. Erhiatake Ibori for many years, and I was honoured to play a role in her entry into politics in 2015. Today, I proudly declare her one of the most trusted loyalists in the House of Representatives, committed to advancing the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the National Assembly.

“We also pay tribute to our leader, Governor James Ibori’s enduring legacy. His leadership and service to Delta State and the nation have left an indelible mark. Despite the efforts of subsequent governors, his foundation remains unbeaten. We thank him for giving us Erhiatake to carry the torch forward.

“Delta State APC is stronger today with Erhiatake on board, and we look forward to welcoming more members to our progressive family. We appeal to our party members to embrace new entrants, encouraging others to join us as we build the New Delta Coalition ahead of the 2027 election.

“We take pride in our remarkable success in the 2023 elections, winning Delta Central and Delta South Senatorial Districts, and having two out of three senators representing Delta State in the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Although we were robbed of our governorship victory by the PDP, we are determined to build on our success and finally dislodge the PDP in 2027”.

Omo-Agege disclosed that come 2027, the APC would field a “strong candidate for governor,” enjoining members to remain steadfast.

He added: “By our party’s constitution, we will nominate a candidate who embodies our values and is committed to liberating our state from the PDP’s grip. Together, we will work tirelessly to ensure a brighter future for our state.”

Akpeki lacks authority to submit report to NWC, says Delta APC

The Delta chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has distanced itself from the recent actions of Chief Paulinus Akpeki, the Vice Chairman for Delta Central Senatorial District on the purported submission of a reconciliation report to the party’s National Chairman.

In a statement by Chief Francis Obigbor, Acting Chairman of the Delta APC, the party clarified that Chief Akpeki lacked the authority to receive or present the Olorogun O’Tega Emerhor-led reconciliation committee’s report on behalf of the State Working Committee. Chief Obigbor described Akpeki’s actions as an overreach and intentional attempt to create confusion within the party.

The Delta APC called on the party’s National Chairman and the National Working Committee (NWC) to disregard any report or representation by Chief Akpeki, emphasising that these actions were unauthorised.

Chief Obigbor reassured party members and stakeholders, urging them to remain calm and focused, despite the distraction caused by this incident. He reaffirmed that he, as Acting Chairman, was awaiting the formal submission of the reconciliation report from the Olorogun O’Tega Emerhor committee.

Once the report is received, Chief Obigbor stated his intention to present it to the State Working Committee, the State Caucus, and the State Executive Committee for comprehensive deliberation and appropriate action.

He also emphasized his commitment to serving as Acting Chairman until Elder Omeni Sobotie, the substantive chairman, resumes duties in person and presides over meetings held at the State Secretariat in Asaba.

The statement reads: “The attention of the Delta State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been drawn to an unauthorized presentation by Chief Paulinus Akpeki, the Vice Chairman of Delta Central Senatorial District, who purportedly received a report from the Olorogun O’Tega Emerhor-led reconciliation committee on behalf of the State Working Committee of the Party.

“We categorically state that Chief Akpeki has no authority to receive any report or present the same before the National Chairman. His actions are a clear usurpation of power and a deliberate attempt to confuse within the party.

“We urge the National Chairman and the National Working Committee (NWC) to discount this report and any actions taken by Chief Akpeki.

“To all our party faithful and stakeholders, we urge you to remain calm and not be distracted by this unauthorized action.

“As the Acting Chairman of the Delta State APC, I continue to await the O’tega Emerhor committee’s report. Once received, I intend to present it before the State Working Committee, State Caucus, and State Executive Committee for rigorous debate and further action, if necessary.

“I will continue to act as Chairman until Elder Omeni Sobotie returns and physically attends to preside over a meeting called to and held at the State Secretariat, Asaba.”

  • Oharume faults Akpeki’s ‘unlawful’ appointment as Delta APC chairman

Oharume faults Akpeki’s ‘unlawful’ appointment as Delta APC chairman

A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, Dr. Abel Izomare Oharume, has criticised the purported appointment of Chief Akpeki as the acting chairman of the APC in Delta State, dismissing it as unlawful and lacking legitimacy.

He condemned the move as political opportunism, asserting that Akpeki’s self-proclaimed role is entirely unacceptable and should be resisted by all lovers of democracy.

Oharume, a prominent businessman with extensive investments in the United States’ haulage, freight, and transportation industries, is owner of one of the fastest-growing African-American companies, operating offices in Atlanta, Georgia and Dallas, Texas. He serves as the President and Executive Director of Omena and Izomabeleon LLC, Ohabiz International LLC, and Alampo International Logistics.

In addition to his business ventures, Oharume is deeply engaged in politics and community development. He was a chairmanship aspirant for Sapele Local Government Council during the 2011/2012 election cycle. He also founded several organisations, including Delta Never Too Young to Lead, Alliance Movement for a Better Nigeria, and Delta Youths Rainbow Movement, where he serves as Coordinator. Additionally, he presides over the Agbarhoyovwi Unity Alliance.

In 2013, following the death of Senator Akpor Ewherido, Dr. Oharume contested the Delta Central Senatorial primary election against notable figures such as Chief Ede Dafinone, Chief Napoleon Igbinije, and Sir Richard Odibo. Dr. Oharume placed fourth with 75 votes in this highly competitive race.

In 2014, he achieved a significant political milestone by defeating an incumbent member of the House of Assembly and becoming the Labour Party’s candidate for Ughelli North Constituency 2 in the House of Assembly election. Despite claiming 98% of polling units during the 2015 general elections, he alleged his mandate was compromised during the announcement of the results.

Oharume  vehemently opposed Chief Akpeki’s appointment as acting chairman, arguing that it violates the APC constitution and democratic principles.

He emphasised that the party’s guidelines explicitly outline procedures for such appointments, which have been blatantly disregarded in this instance.

Citing Article 14.2(iii) of the APC constitution, Dr. Oharume clarified that state-level succession differs from the national structure.

He noted that at the state level, a single deputy chairman—Chief Francis Obigbor in this case—should assume acting chairmanship during the absence of Elder Omeni Sobotie, the substantive chairman who went on medical leave.

Oharume condemned the Delta State APC’s State Working Committee (SWC), accusing them of undermining the party’s foundational principles. He suggested their decision either stems from ignorance of party rules or a deliberate attempt to manipulate them.

He warned that such actions threaten the party’s unity and cohesion, potentially causing division among members.

He urged Chief Akpeki to step down and respect established protocols to maintain peace within the APC. He also criticized comments made by the State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, describing them as misleading and irresponsible.

While acknowledging Akpeki’s role as Chairman of the Delta Central Senatorial District, Oharume reiterated that only Chief Francis Obigbor is legally entitled to act as state chairman in Sobotie’s absence.

He called on party members to reject any actions that violate the APC’s constitutional framework. Dr. Oharume’s appeal underscores the importance of unity and strict adherence to party guidelines for the continued success of the APC.

Joy as Okotete rewards Delta APC women at summit

Women of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta state were ecstatic on Thursday in Asaba as a former national women leader, Hon. Stella Okotete, hosted them to a summit.

They were all empowered and rewarded for staying true to the party during the last election.

The summit themed ‘Empowered To Serve’ had over 2000 women in attendance from all the local governments areas in the state.

No fewer than 500 traders from other political parties decamped to the APC.

Hon. Okotete extolled the virtues of the women who stood by the party during the last election which led to the emergence of two senators, House of Representative members and seven House of Assembly members.
