  • DENRELE @ 38 Sometimes, being different feels a lot like being alone

    ON Air Personality, Denrele Edun, who turned 38 last week, has said there is no limit to what he can accomplish in life.

    Denrele, who recently opened a club in Bayelsa State said that everything that has happened has made him happy.

    “Sometimes, being different feels a lot like being alone,” he said.

    “But with that being said, being TRUE to that and being TRUE to my standards and my way of doing things in my ART and my CRAFT, Everything that has made me feel very different…in the end, it has made me the HAPPIEST!

    “As I step into my 38th year, I hope to continue practicing compassion for MYSELF first, knowing that it is the only way I can give it to anyone else. I also want to take with me into my 38th year, an exhale of TRUST that I can continue to have the power to ground and center myself. And that through this grounding, there will be a faith and fearlessness that will arise and fortify me in doing the work I am meant to do.”

  • Denrele kicks off birthday giveaway

    Days after celebrating his 37th birthday, red carpet host, Denrele Edun is set to change the life of a lucky up and coming artiste in what he described as his ultimate birthday giveaway worth two million naira.

    According to Denrele, having been in the industry for a while and with understanding of what it takes to become a star, he will be shooting a video for an up and coming artiste.

    He stated, “And to the ultimate 37th birthday giveaway, I want to shoot a music video for an upcoming artiste (who will blow with my divine intervention….I’ll personally carry this person’s matter on my head)

    As a major front runner in the music industry (I’ve been veejaying for more than a decade), I’ve worked with practically every Nigerian artiste and somehow somewhat, will remain part of their success story. And I totally understand the music video industry hustle which is why this giveaway is on a 2 million naira budget.”

    The giveaway, he further revealed, includes a free music video with an internationally acclaimed director, props and free promo both home and abroad.

    To be the lucky winner, followers of the presenter are tasked to tag a well deserving music artiste.

    I’ll pick the best 37 reasons and narrow them down to 10. Will meet the 10 upcoming artistes with an industry jury, listen to their material and pick my winner,” he wrote.

    Denrele also promised to do a cameo appearance in the video too.

  • Denrele reveals new skills at 37

    Media personality, Adenrele Olufemi Adeyemi, better known as Denrele, who clocked 37 on June 13, celebrated the day reviving his hidden talent as an artist.

    Posting series of pictures on his Instagram, the co-host of ‘The Boot’ had his body displaying series of yellow painted buses showcasing his own story of what Lagos State is.

    “The four things that come to mind when people think of LAGOS are: Population, Problems, Poverty and Promises Unfulfilled. But that’s not the whole story! My Lagos (as artfully painted on me) shows you something different. We hustle, we find ways to overcome, and we survive.

    “There is only one of me and I stand vehemently to lend my voice through my art and the pragmatic use of my craft to consciously and radically inspire generations, both behind and before me. Come with me into the indescribable world of my potentiality. I am in the most rewarding era of my career yet, and I am very cognizant of the universe’s role in moulding and manifesting through and in me; I-am-not-your-regular-tom greatness”.

    On his journey so far as an entertainer in showbiz business, he said; “I am glad and privileged to be a vessel unto honour – bear in mind that you mightn’t want to be in my shoes – what I have survived can devour you and your future to come. Still I welcome you all into my realm where I artfully educate you on the journey which I began decades ago. I let my art succinctly speak to your ever curious minds seeking validation”.

    The picture as revealed by the entertainer took seven hours to complete the painting.

    Denrele also revealed that for the first time, he will be giving out various gifts to 37 persons including writers, up and coming artistes, students, single moms, budding entrerepeurs, die-hard fans and random selections.

    Denrele replaces Dbanj as co-host of Lip Sync Battle Africa

    Starting from April 22, Lip Sync Battle Africa is back on MTV Base (DStv channel 322) and at the helm for the second season is uber-babe, actress, presenter and model Pearl Thusi, while flamboyant TV presenter and fashion icon, Denrele Edin, takes over from Kokomaster, Dbanj.
    No stranger to the music business, Denrele has interviewed the likes of Akon, Beyonce, Tyler Perry, Lil’ Kim, Snoop Dogg and others. Famous in Nigeria for his OTT calculated madness and edgy eccentricity, Denrele was himself a contestant on Lip Sync Battle Africa in Season 1, where he battled against fellow TV personality Ebuka, losing out narrowly, despite storming performances of “Johnny” by Yemi Alade and Jamiroquai’s 90s hit, “Virtual Insanity”.
    Denrele said, “Co-hosting Lip Sync Battle Africa is truly the answer to a prayer I never made! The universe truly opened a door, and I’m gonna make sure I jump right inside and DO IT! It’s quite surreal – I was a contestant in Series 1 who flew in last minute and “spiritually” won his LSB challenge, and now I’ve been elevated to co-host! Try not to watch me, I dare you!”

    FLAMBOYANT music TV personality Denrele Edun and Ebony Life TV heartthrob Ebuka Obi-Uchendu are set  battle in the premiere episode of the hotly anticipated reality contest Lip Sync Battle Africa premiering at 6pm, Saturday 30 April on MTV Base (DStv channel 322).

    The duo will clash in front of millions of TV viewers across Africa, as the massive global TV hit finally makes its debut in Nigeria.

    Hosted by South African actress and TV presenter Pearl Thusi alongside Nigerian superstar and “Koko Master” D’Banj, the contestants battle each other performing and lip syncing to two songs of choice (one local song and one international song).

    “My fans can expect to see Denrele at his crazy, quirky best and I think that will make the show very watchable,” Denrele said.

    “Too bad for Ebuka that he is coming up against me!”

    Though Ebuka said Lip Sync Battle Africa is a bit left field for him, he said: “I promise everyone a fantastic time and my fans will get to see a side of me that they have never seen before, and possibly a side of me that even I never knew existed.”

    While Denrele performs Johnny by Yemi Alade and Virtual Insanity by Jamiroquai, Ebuka performs Girlie ooo by Patoranking and a rap song by Ludacris.

    POPULAR presenter, Denrele Edun needs no introduction.  His flamboyant personality and eccentric dress sense have made many to think that he is gay or transsexual. Surprisingly, celebrity Psychiatrist, Maymunah Kadiri, has cleared the entertainer of such insinuations, saying in a Facebook post that Denrele is neither gay, nor mentally disturbed in any way.

    In the post which she titled The Denrele Edun you must meet and know, after a personal encounter, she said: “ . . .  Almost throughout my school days, a particular young man named Denrele Edun became my unofficial client/patient. Over 90% of the students including some facilitators believed he was a ‪#‎sick, ‪#‎crazy, ‪#‎psycho ‪#‎mad man. He was constantly used as a case study to explain the business in the entertainment industry”.

    She continued, “Fast forward, our organisation decided to campaign and increase the awareness on mental health by creating documentaries to depict this Societal menace. Our first script came through and was named ‎Peppersoup. The producer and I decided to look for the right person who will really showcase this character and ….Denrele Edun came to mind. I’m sure you are also thinking what I’m thinking….Denrele is already a mad man na…so, why him. We prayed that he will accept the role and make himself available for the shooting. Lo and behold, Grace Edwin Oboba, our beautiful producer sent him the script and then…..the BIG NEWS!!! Denrele did not only accept the script, but fell in love with it…”

    After having worked with Denrele Edun on a project, and relating with him over a period of time, Maymunah gave her professional judgment about the eccentric presenter, “Denrele is a handsome young man who is very intelligent and passionate about his career.     AS the fifth edition of Classic Africa Merit Award (CAMA) is set to hold on Sunday, September, 13 at 10 Degrees Events Centre in Ikeja Lagos, organisers have assembled a quartet host for the award scheme.

    They include Denrele Edun, who will be taking command of CAMA lush green carpet with TV gal, Mercy Osuya, the host of De Gallery on MITV, and Nollywood diva, Halima Abubakar, who will complement radio anchor, Covenant Child right on the lavishly exquisite CAMA stage.

    Organisers say the award is an opportunity to thank valued citizens of Nigeria and Africa for their contributions and to reinforce the behaviours and actions for which the award is presented. CAMA is the brain child of The Classic International Magazine in the calendar of the Africa community to honour real drivers of the African society in various fields of endeavour.

    POPULAR TV presenter, model and entertainer; Denrele Edun has been announced as the host of Club Ultimate, a new city to city clubbing event organised by beer brand, Gulder. The first leg of the show comes up in Port Harcourt on July 26, 2013 at the Aztech Arcum.

    Club Ultimate is. One simple location will be selected in different cities across Nigeria and transformed into a mega nightclub with lots of exciting attractions to thrill Gulder consumers for one special night.

    Denrele, a Channel O Presenter, who has honed his skills as the ultimate entertainer through years of hard work and determination, will be hosting the red carpet session and the main event, which will feature top celebrity guests.

    ALL is now set to host eccentric TV personality, Denrele Edun, at the second edition of Nigerian Broadcasters’ Nite (NBN), its organisers have announced. Put together by The Reality Entertainment and set for Thursday May 30, the event would hold at Club Vegas, situated along Sheraton/Opebi link Road, Ikeja.

    According to the organisers, NBN is designed to hold every last Thursday of the month when one of the winners of the yearly Nigerian Broadcasters Merit Awards (NBMA) gets selected and is hosted at one of the biggest lounges/clubs in the state. Beyond the extensive celebration of the winner with loads of music and comedy, there would be a presentation of certificate to the winner to commemorate the NBMA plaque earlier won.

    Aside Denrele who emerged Most Popular TV Personality during the second edition of NBMA, one of Nigeria’s most respected Disk Jockey, DJ Shy Shy Shyllon will be the event’s Special Guest.

    Slated to begin at 6pm, the event features special performances from Zdon Paporella, Sheyman, Aju among few other rising and shining music stars.
