Reflecting on his recognition, Olaibi said, “For many years, I preferred to maintain a low profile. Despite my strong work ethic and loyal clientele, I often stayed behind the scenes. But insights from PR strategist Kehinde Ajose reminded me that staying ‘low key’ limits growth, and that visibility is essential for impact. That message shifted my perspective.”

Olaibi emphasised that his approach to visibility remains authentic. “Although I enjoy a low-key lifestyle, I’m intentional about presenting my brand in ways that are true to who I am. I don’t post to show off; my goal is to create content that motivates, uplifts, and inspires the everyday person,” he said.

He added, “I want people to engage with my story without feeling pressured or comparing themselves. My intention is not to make anyone wonder, ‘When will it be my turn?’ but to remind them that their own journey is valid and unfolding in its own time.”

The 2025 Visibility 50 Africa list also features notable names such as Davido, Femi Otedola, Tony Elumelu, Wizkid, Asake, Omoni Oboli, Don Jazzy, Funke Akindele, and others, highlighting the continent’s most influential figures in personal and brand visibility.

Don Jazzy defends donation to ‘beneficiary’ amid social media backlash

Music executive Don Jazzy has come to the defence of a young woman on social media, Itohan, who received a private donation from him to support her initiative helping people with health challenges.

The controversy began when Itohan tweeted about her Christmas wishes, including paying off debts and launching a foundation to help kidney patients, inspired by her brother’s death from kidney disease.

Don Jazzy responded, asking her to share her needs, and she listed her requests.

However, some social media users labelled her “greedy” and a “scam,” prompting Don Jazzy to defend her.

He addressed allegations that he only supports women and stated that Itohan did nothing wrong, referencing his previous donation to a tech initiative.

Don Jazzy emphasised that Itohan’s initiative is admirable and that she deserves support, not criticism.

He wrote on X: “Don’t do that. What exactly did she do wrong? I like to help people when i can. I asked for her wish, and she stated she wants to help people too.

“We all have our wishes whether big or small. I immediately noticed that people started dragging her so i entered her Dm to try and save her from the long talks on the timeline. Also not to be like i just raised her hopes and left her hanging.

“She didn’t need to come back to the timeline to tell you guys anything as she doesnt owe anyone anything. Is she a govt official? But because of the too much drags i guess she thought it was best to share the news on the timeline. What is bringing this woman talk now? Is the 20m Laptop brother a woman too?’

The controversy has sparked a debate on social media, with some defending Itohan and others criticising her approach.

Itohan has expressed gratitude for Don Jazzy’s donation and is using it to assist dialysis patients, with N350,000 already spent to support two patients.

Don Jazzy: Label bosses should treat artists with respect

Music mogul Don Jazzy has spoken about record label dynamics, stating that some label bosses fail to respect their artists.

Don Jazzy on X, advised new label heads to treat their artists like superstars from the start, allowing them to shine.

He attributes his approach to empowering his artists, letting them take center stage 90% of the time, and stepping in as necessary.

Don Jazzy added that newer label bosses might be emulating his “Don” persona but missing the mark by focusing on the wrong aspects.

He emphasised the importance of respecting and nurturing talent, rather than trying to control it.

“I might be wrong but i ve noticed some record label bosses dont respect their artists. If you know you are aiming at building a huge superstar, start from day one to accord them with that respect.

“And the thing is most of the new label bosses actually look up to me but copy the wrong thing cos of my Don persona. 90% of the time around my artists i let them be the superstars that they are. Its only 10% of the time that i really need to be Supremos”, he wrote.

Why I left my crashed car with UK police – Don Jazzy

Music executive Don Jazzy has addressed a police case from his early career in the UK, denying claims he evaded law enforcement after a car accident.

His former associate Bankulli had alleged Don Jazzy removed the vehicle’s plate and fled the scene, citing the incident as a reason for not including the story in an Afrobeats documentary.

According to Bankulli, Don Jazzy was involved in an accident, abandoned the car and removed the number plate to avoid consequences.

“I refused to put a particular story about Don Jazzy in the Afrobeats documentary. Because Don Jazzy was trying to survive in London, he had an accident and the car got destroyed. Don Jazzy abandoned the car. He was coming from a show and he fell asleep while driving and crashed his car.

“He left the car, removed the plate number and ran away. Why? Because you would pay more to carry the car away from there than to repair it. But look at Jazzy now, he has fleets of cars,” Bankulli said.

Reacting to Bankulli’s revelation, an X user berated him, expressing fear that the case could be reopened if Don Jazzy were to visit the UK now that his former associate had made the incident public.

“With this reckless talk from Bankulli, I really hope Don Jazzy isn’t planning a trip to London. They can reopen a 20-year-old case,” the X user wrote.

However, Don Jazzy refuted this claim, stating he waited for police, passed a breathalyser test and had the car impounded.

In a response on X, Don Jazzy explained, “Lol no panic. It’s been so long, so he doesn’t remember the story exactly. I actually waited for the police. They came and gave me a breathalyser to determine if I was drunk. I wasn’t but the car was impounded. The fine to collect the car back was more than the cheap car, so I left it with them lol”.

Don Jazzy celebrates Co-founder Potrix, credits him for Bammby’s rapid growth

Music producer and tech entrepreneur, Don Jazzy, has celebrated his Bammby Dating App co-founder, Opata Efungwu, popularly known as Potrix, describing him as a key force behind the app’s growing success.

The Mavin Records boss sent the birthday message via Instagram, urging fans to pray for and extend good wishes to his partner.

“Shout out to @potrix102 my @bammby.dating Co Founder. It’s his birthday today. Guys please help me say a prayer for him and wish him a very happy birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRO. More blessings,” he wrote.

The message comes as Bammby records a significant milestone barely a year after its launch. The dating app has surpassed 300,000 users, placing it among the fastest-growing relationship platforms in Nigeria.

Don Jazzy has repeatedly voiced confidence in the platform. In a recent video, he joked that Bammby’s only “problem” is that “the entire Nigeria will soon be on it,” underscoring its rising appeal among young people.

Built on strict security and authenticity standards, Bammby positions itself as a safe alternative in an online environment riddled with catfishing, impersonation and love scams. The app deploys anti-catfishing measures and a behavioural matching system that studies user patterns to connect more compatible pairs, rather than pairing users at random.

This focus on safety and intentional connections has helped strengthen its credibility among young Africans.

Potrix, described by insiders as the “technical brain” behind the platform, has years of experience building digital products across various industries. Beyond Bammby, he leads a technology company that develops mobile apps, enterprise software and e-commerce systems. His technical expertise complements Don Jazzy’s strong public influence in what has become a balanced and effective partnership.

Don Jazzy’s birthday tribute reflects not only camaraderie but the teamwork driving Bammby’s steady rise in Nigeria’s tech space. With its growing user base and increasing online buzz, the app is positioning itself as one of the country’s emerging digital success stories.

Fans have continued to flood social media with birthday wishes for Potrix, commending both founders for their role in shaping one of Nigeria’s notable new tech products.

He praised Don Jazzy for handing over his catalogue and some unreleased songs.

D’banj expressed missing collaborations with Don Jazzy but believes their split was predestined.

“If I were to go back in time, I wouldn’t have done anything differently regarding my relationship with Don Jazzy, especially when the idea to go our separate ways didn’t come from me. It came from Don Jazzy 100 per cent. And that’s why we have no issue.

“Jazzy gave me 100 per cent of my catalogue and maybe 10 other songs I have not released… It was a journey for me, even though he had his opinion, I knew that we needed to cement that global movement and I’m glad that even after, God still did it for us with ‘Oliver Twist’, which was the last record we released together,” he remarked.
