Veteran actor Don Richard has appealed to the public for financial assistance as he grapples with kidney-related health issues and severe financial hardship.
In an emotional interview with actress Biola Bayo, Don Richard revealed that his deteriorating condition forced him to sell his car for ₦1.5 million.
He also recalled a difficult period early in his career when he trekked long distances from Bariga to various parts of Lagos, including Chemist, Unilag, Iwaya, Sabo, Yaba, and Ojuelegba, for eight months.
The actor disclosed that his wife abandoned him due to his financial struggles, saying, “I came out and met my wife and burst into tears. I told her, ‘Mummy twins, another man is lucky.’ She is avoiding me because I am broke.”

He lamented that his condition requires ₦30 million for treatment, a sum he cannot afford. “The doctor spoke to me, and I was scared. I said, ‘God, I don’t have such an amount. You are my life secret. If you leave me, people will know my secret,” he shared.
Biola Bayo has since taken up his cause, sharing his account details on Instagram and urging well-meaning Nigerians to donate towards his treatment.
Earlier this month, Don Richard also opened up about how he began experiencing serious health issues two years after quitting smoking and drinking.
He expressed his surprise at the development, believing that his health would improve after leaving his old lifestyle behind.
He warned others not to assume they are healthy just because they feel fine externally, stressing the importance of regular medical checks.
