    My son taken away without my consent, Doris Simeon alleges

    Actress Doris Simeon has opened up on her tumultuous custody battle with ex-husband Daniel Ademinokan in an interview with Biola Bayo on “Talk to B.”

    Doris revealed that Daniel took their son to the US when he was just four without her consent and the last time she played a motherly role was when he was 3.

    Doris said she struggled to contact her son, with Daniel claiming he was busy or unreachable for months. 

    She said despite feeling frustrated and depressed, she hid her emotions as her parents taught her to be strong in the face of challenges.

    Doris said: “I might have had my fault, he also had his fault. That’s why I said I didn’t feel anything when they got married, but the only thing is that he didn’t allow me to mother my child. That’s the only painful part.

    “He took my son without my consent, he was just 4 years old when he came to the US. He was 3 when I mothered my child last. I was calling, but he wouldn’t pick up, and when he picked up, he would tell me he would call me back as he was busy, and for another 3 to 4 months, I wouldn’t get through.

    “I was frustrated and depressed, but I can never show that because I knew the family I came from as my parents told us to be strong, no matter what you’re going through in life. I just went for a movie premiere and someone told me I am not here to see my son. That was how they took us to court”.

    Doris Simeon: I miss Nigerian street food

    Nigerian actress Doris Simeon has revealed that she misses the taste of Nigerian street foods since she relocated to the United States in 2018.

    Simon, known for her roles in Nollywood movies, expressed her nostalgia for dishes like roasted yam, roasted corn, ewa agoyin, potatoes, and more.

    “The things I miss most are the food they sell on the streets… I miss my family and friends. I miss being on movie sets. Sometimes when I see some behind-the-scenes clips, especially how they eat together, I miss it all,” Simeon shared.

    In addition to missing the street food, Simeon also revealed that she has faced personal challenges in America. She lamented the loss of a sibling and expressed regret at not being able to meet her sibling’s last child, who will be turning five years old in July.

    “I lost one of my young siblings within the period I’ve been in America and I have not been able to see her last child who will be turning 5 years old in July.”

    Despite these challenges, Simeon remains optimistic about her future plans, saying, “I should go to Nigeria in one or two years’ time.”

    She acknowledged the difficulties of starting over in a new country, emphasising the need to be strong and hardworking in America.

    “It’s not easy to start all over here, you have to be strong. You can’t be lazy here in America,” she said.

    Simeon highlighted the stark differences in lifestyle between Nigeria and the US saying, “The system is not created to avoid bills nor do people give out money. If you don’t pay your bills, you will sleep outside in the cold.”

    US-based Nigerian actress, Doris Simeon, has opened up on why she left her career in Nigeria and relocated abroad.

    Simeon, who was popular in the Yoruba film industry in the early 2000s, spoke about her relocation in an interview with her colleague, Kunle Afod.

    According to her, she left Nigeria in 2018 so she could be closer to her child.

    “As many people know, my child and his father reside in America, and that’s one of the reasons I decided to relocate here. 

    “I left Nigeria in 2018 and I have not returned since then. I miss Nigeria a lot. The things I miss most especially are the roadside food vendors. Things like roasted yam, roasted corn, food that they hawk.

    “I miss my family and friends and I also miss being on set, especially when I see actors and actresses sharing behind-the-scenes moments on their social media platforms.”

    Twelve celebrities have been selected to participate in the maiden edition of reality tv show called ‘Celebrity Housemate.’ The reality show which is scheduled to hit the screen between January 12, 2018 and February 11, 2018 will be shot in Amen Estates, Lagos.

    Celebrities selected to live together under one roof for the four-week show include Ruggedman, Doris Simeon, Muma Gee, Emmanuel Ikubese, Yomi Fashlanso, Funky Mallam, Ada Ameh, Peggy Ovire, Eniola Badmus, Frederick Leonard, Ogenna Ekwubiri and Bolanle Ninolowo.

    The celebrity contestants are selected across different spheres of the entertainment industry including comedy, acting and music. They will be placed on series of daily challenges and tasks and the contestants will prove their entrepreneurial acumens through various challenges on the show.

    Also, other top celebrities and role models in the society will visit the housemates in the course of the show.

    The winner will get a Seven million naira star prize while other contestants will also get cash prizes.

    The organisers of the reality show revealed that N2m would be donated to two charity homes by the winner and N1m also goes to selected viewers.

    The executive producer, Kemi Otegbade, said, “we are using this show to converge the Nigerian cultural values with the ideal lifestyle of celebrities and entertain Nigerians in an educating and exciting way. We have been working on the content format and I can assure Nigerian of engaging and exciting experience on television and online when this show comes on TV and also confirm it will be a yearly feature on television.”

    The consulting producer of the show, CEO Dope Tv, Sola Fajobi said “I can imagine the challenges when you put twelve established celebrities in one house, we want to see how they will co-habit together, we also want to see how they can help to redirect and influence the lifestyle that we have in Nigeria now where the social media generation tend to not understand what living means.”

    Fajobi also said the show aimed to promote unity which is why the contestants are selected from the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.

    “We also believe that the fact that we are taking celebrities from the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria means we want to see wan reunite again, how we can remove the ethnicity bias,” he said.

    “It is a convergence of so many things and we cannot event predict the total outcome of the show but we are quite optimistic that it’s going to be a fantastic experience for TV viewers and Nigerians generally.”

    As a way of giving back to the society, cross-over actress, Doris Simeon will, on Tuesday, December 20, lead a team of celebrities on a health awareness campaign walk.
    Tagged ‘Health is Wealth’, the walk, according to the actress will kick-off from the Idiagbon bus-stop, off college road, Ogba, Lagos. It will also feature a free medical checkup with music/comedy to end the day.
    An elated Dayo Amusa, who is also part of the walk stated: “Come with your loved ones living in this axis of Lagos to get proper medical checks from a group of competent medical practitioners we have provided for your welfare this festive season.
    “We will be giving out foodstuff, insecticides, clothing, shoes, mosquito nets and others useful materials.”
    Popular faces expected for the walk are: Funsho Adeolu, Iyabo Ojo, Bimbo Thomas, Saidi Balogun, Helen Paul, Omo Baba, among others.
    The give back initiative is of Doris Simeon Foundation & Popwyne Entertainment.

    A HEAD of the activation of TheatreMania Africa Festival (TAF), the International Central Working Committee of the Festival has announced the Ambassadors of the March 2017 slated TAF billed to take place in Nigeria.

    The names unveiled by the organisers of the awards include Akin Lewis, Norbert Young, Doris Simeon, and Owen Gee from Nigeria; Thandekile Grace Maseko, and Sibongile Maria Phakathi from South Africa; Zani Michelle Chiumia a.k.a Zani Challe from Malawi, as well as Ghana’s Uncle Ebo Whyte.

    According to the CEO and co-founder of TAF, Alayande Stephen T, the lineup of the Ambassadors shows a repertoire of seasoned entertainment practitioners whose field range from theatre to screen, music and even comedy.

    “They are not just lovers of stage production but they are passionate about the African culture and story. Interestingly, they are also a mixture of experienced and young at heart individuals who are determined to pass the unwavering torch of theatre/stage production to the next generation. Some of them have even made laudable contributions into ensuring that theatre performance is constantly on the rise in Africa, hence, the Ambassadors would be advocating extensively on the TAF 2016/17 theme; Peace In Africa,” he stated.

    Malawian actress, singer and OAP, Zani Challe, stated; “I feel really honored to be picked as one of the ambassadors for the festival. Seeing how diverse we are in culture and tradition will in no small measure create a reverberating effect on the journey we are about to embark upon and I would be really delighted to see the whole of Africa stand up in unison to help echo the ‘PEACE IN AFRICA’ mantra we all so crave for.”

    TAF is an all-encompassing All Africa Theatre Production/Creative Industry Awards and Festival, evolving from the African root aimed at re-writing the African story to the world in a positive way.

    NOLLYWOOD actress, Doris Simeon, in a recent interview with Pulse Nigeria, recalls her most challenging moment as an actress. In the 12 minutes clip, the actress also took time out to speak on sundry issues including her career, response to negative comments, discrimination in the industry among others.

    According to the thespian, her most challenging moment was on the set of the movie, Omo Iya Kan.

    “I was producing, playing two characters in a movie, and I just had my baby who was just 3 months then, and I just lost my dad. So, it was kind of challenging, but then, it all went well,” she revealed.

    She also revealed that discrimination exists in the Nigerian movie industry, admitting that she has never fallen victim.

    “I have never experienced it on my own part. I really cannot say if there’s a discrimination or not, maybe because I communicate with every single member of the industry. Whenever we meet, even if we haven’t worked together, we say hi,” she said.

    Doris Simeon is a multiple award winning actress popular for her roles in movies such as Oloju Ede, Alakada,Onitemi, Ten Million Naira, Modupe Temi, Silence among others.

    DORIS Simeon shared some pictures on July 8, signing some documents, and captioned “When you see the money inside the contract. You know now, that smile”

    The talented cross-over actress and mother of one, also a beauty entrepreneur, according to findings has renewed her contract with Gloxosmith, makers of popular children drink, Ribena. The contract, as revealed, will last for another two years.

    The actress alongside her estranged husband celebrated their only son recently, when he clocked 7.

    Simeon started with a part in three episodes of the Papa Ajasco comedy series, she then starred in home videos, Oloju Ede, Alakada and Modupe Temi, among others.

    In 2010, she starred as Da Grin’s girlfriend in Ghetto Dreamz, and co-produced Omo Iya Kan with her former husband.

    She was AMAA’s 2008 Best Indigenous Actress for Onitemi, and Zafaa Award 2010 Best Indigenous actress for Asiri.

    Doris Simeon opens up on CRASHED marriage

    WITHOUT doubt, when the going was good, both actress Doris Simeon and her estranged husband, Daniel Ademinokan, a notable movie director, were an item.

    No wonder, fans received the news of their separation with shock and almost total disbelief.  Since their marriage crashed, Doris has managed to keep sealed lips over the matter.  However, it appears the actress is no more tone-tied, as she has now found the courage to speak out, more than a year after.

    In a recent interview with a national daily, she was quoted as saying, “This man asked for divorce more than seven times, long before we finally separated. At every little problem, he would say ‘I want divorce…’There are some people whom he listens to when they talk to him. So, I tried to call pastors who kept calling him. But he wouldn’t pick their calls. At some point, I just realized that he had made up his mind finally. It got to a point that I had to look at myself in the mirror, and I said to myself, ‘Doris, you are a beautiful woman, why would you want to kill yourself over nothing?’ I convinced myself to just try and move on with my life also. It took me a year to get to that point. But in- between that time, I was trying to focus my mind on other things such as work.”
