    •Idah sings lamentation song

Former international Joseph Dosu has expressed optimism that embattled Super Eagles will survive the heat and excel in the W/C qualifiers despite disappointing display against lowly rated Swaziland Friday.

The former Super Eagles goalie in what could pass for lone positive opinion amidst basket full of negative opinions shortly after the match noted that it is not late for the Nigerian side to find their rhythm. “I believe in this team and I think they will make amends,” he enthused.

If there is one person who is however not itchy to embrace Dosu’s optimism it is highly disappointed former Eagles goalkeeper and South Africa based Pastor Peterside Idah.  Idah who apparently monitored the boring game from the first blast of the whistle to finish summed up his disappoint in a tweet after the match. “This is not the Eagles I used to know,” he submitted. He however did not stop there as he urged Nigerians to get used to the new Eagles and their tendency to disappoint when it matters most, as he added ” Get used to this new one, I did long time”.

There were reports on local media in Swaziland of  jubilation among Soccer fans who gave the Sihlangu a pat on the back for holding the Eagles to a goalless draw even as President of National football Association of Swaziland Senator Adam Mthethwa has reportedly charged the Swazis to fight Eagles to the finish in the return leg billed for Port Harcourt on Tuesday. A cross section of soccer fans who spoke with SportingLife after the match on Friday said though they have learnt not to underrate any team when Eagles are involved, they nonetheless did not expect the Sunday Oliseh tutored side to struggle so much against a team that is currently 130th position on FIFA ranking as against Eagles who are 59th on the world log.  Some, however, say falling out of top 10 in Africa is an indication that the team can indeed lose to anybody insisting that the era when mere mention of Eagles sends jitters into the spines of contenders are over.

3SC will finish in top-3, says Dosu

3SC goalkeeper John Dosu has told AfricanFootball.com his club will end the season on a high and clinch a continental ticket despite a wretched start to the campaign.

‘The Oluyole Warriors’, as the Ibadan club are known, have started the season poorly with no points from their first two games, but the former Akwa United shot stopper said they will soon be back on track.

“It is no news that we didn’t start the season well as we had hoped and expected, we just played two games. The season is long, I am sure we will end up in the top-three at the end of the season,” said Dosu.

“Shooting Stars are a household name in African football and we will take the team back to where they rightly belong.”

He further said: “We have top quality players, good coaching crew and a good management team. We will do well, our fans should be rest assured.”

3SC will be guests of Nasarawa United in Lafia next week Sunday .

Don’t sack Keshi, Dosu Joseph pleads

Former  U-23 goalkeeper,  Dosu Joseph, has advised  Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to allow Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi to carry on as the  head coach of the team.

Mixed feelings and speculations  have trailing the future of the out-of-contract gaffer Keshi following his failure to qualify the Super  Eagles for the next edition of the  Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON)  billed to hold in Equatorial Guinea  in January next year.

Reacting on a sport programme, Megasport, Dosu, who had earlier  expressed his  shock  at  the  exit of the Super  Eagles  from  AFCON  2015  following a 2-2  draw  with  Bafana Bafana of  South  Africa  at  the  new  Akwa Ibom stadium complex, Uyo said:  “It is a good idea if Keshi can continue as Super Eagles coach, it is  just left to him to go back to the  drawing board and plan for our  team. It is the best time to rebuild  when there is no competition.”

Keshi has unfinished business in Eagles, Dosu claims

Ex-Nigerian International Dosu Joseph has claimed that returning Super Eagles manager Stephen Keshi has an ‘unfinished job’ in the national side and has unequivocally welcomed his return to the team.

Keshi was relieved of his duties by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) after a shocking campaign in the 2015 African Nations Cup qualifiers (AFCON) where he picked up just 4 points out of a possible 12 but was recalled after a presidential intervention.

He swang into action immediately on his return as he released a 25-man list to prosecute the two remaining games against Congo Brazzaville and SouthAfrica on November 15 and 19 respectively and has said that the Super Eagles will be at the Nations Cup.

Dosu strongly believes he deserves a second chance.

‘Stephen Keshi has unfinished job with Nigeria. He has played four games in the qualifiers and we have 3 points in all and we need to win the remaining two games to qualify,’ Dosu said during an interview with Brilafm.

‘So for him to come back, I think he believes he has unfinished job and that is the purpose he came back.

‘If he can take us to the promised land, all well and good and if he cannot – I think he has done well for himself maybe Nigerians will just tell him ‘Thank you’ for coming and bye-bye for now.

‘But for me, it’s a good thing he is back- he should finish what he has started but we all pray – we want to see our Super Eagles in Morocco.

‘Thank God the Nations Cup has not been postponed. I think for me its unfinished business for him so he needs to finish it and let’s see where the Super Eagles will end up.’

SouthAfrica currently tops Group A standings with 8 points closely followed by Congo Brazzaville with 7points, Nigeria 4points and rooted to the bottom is Sudan with just 3 points.

Morocco 2015: South Africa can’t stop Nigeria – Dosu

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Joseph Dosu, has tipped the Super Eagles to scale above other countries in Group A of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying rounds.
Nigeria has been drawn alongside South Africa, Sudan and the winners between Namibia/Congo and Libya/Rwanda.
The Atlanta 1996 Olympic gold medalist though insisted the group is a tough one but is optimistic that the Super Eagles will make it to Morocco.
“I think it’s a hard group because we have South Africa, Sudan and [probably] Libya that won the home based Nations Cup. It is definitely a tough group,” Dosu told Goal.
“But then as Nigerians we know how to scale through. If we can win our first two games, I think it will be easy but then at the beginning it will be very tough.
“You can’t write off Nigeria because we are African champions and we know how to make our way through,” he continued.
The draw is seen as a rekindling of rivalries between the Super Eagles and Bafana Bafana, a side that is longing to earn its first victory in a competitive match against the reigning African champions.
“South Africa will be hoping to take their pound of flesh but Nigeria I think we will continue from where we stopped from. The last time we met them, even with our home-based team, we emerged victorious.
“I think it’s a continuous process for the Super Eagles and the South Africans will need to work hard because we will continue from where we stopped,” Dosu concluded.
