    We focus on redefining entertainment, celebrate Nigerian cultural heritage – Dotun Taylor

    The Founder of Aroba Groove Entertainment Industry International, a platform dedicated to merging the immersive experience of stage plays with the cinematic allure of Nollywood Dotun Taylor, has said he was focusing on redefining entertainment and celebrating Nigerian cultural heritage for future generations.

    Taylor said in an interview with newsmen on Saturday that storytelling was not just an art form but was a means of preserving and rejuvenating cultural narratives. 

    According to him, his work focuses on celebrating timeless tales, ensuring they resonate with both old and new generations.  

    Taylor added that one of his standout projects was the adaptation of the iconic Yoruba film ‘Ti Oluwa Ni Ile’ into a stage play titled ‘Asiyanbi’. 

    Through his innovative projects, Taylor continues to push the boundaries of entertainment, ensuring Nigeria’s cultural stories remain vibrant and celebrated.  

    “This production not only revived beloved characters with original cast members but also infused fresh energy into a story cherished by many. It was more than a nostalgic journey; ‘Asiyanbi’ reintroduced universal themes and cultural values in a format that captivated audiences anew,” he said.  

    The Aroba Groove Chief Executive Officer (CEO) said that his passion for storytelling extended beyond entertainment as it’s deeply rooted in his love for history. 

    He said that as a historian, he strived to make the past accessible and engaging through film and theatre, by intertwining meticulous research with creative ingenuity, by transforming historical accounts into compelling narratives that inspire a sense of identity and pride.  

    “History isn’t a series of static events; it’s a dynamic adventure filled with heroes, lessons, and cultural wisdom. His works breathe life into forgotten tales, creating bridges between generations and fostering a deeper connection to Nigerian roots.  

    “Through his innovative approach, we have redefined the art of storytelling in Nigeria, by blending Hollywood precision with Nollywood soul thereby elevating the country’s entertainment landscape. 

    “We have efforts to remind us that our past holds invaluable lessons and that these stories, when told with passion and creativity, can shape a brighter, more connected future,” he added. 

    Taylor noted that the journey from Hollywood back to Nollywood was a testament to his commitment to preserving culture while embracing innovation. 

    According to him, in my hands, Nigerian stories are not just retold; they are reimagined, celebrated, and immortalized for generations to come.

    He said that this was a new era for Nigerian entertainment to enlarge its coast for more innovations and advancement for generations unborn.

    “In the heart of Nigeria, a land brimming with vibrant culture and untold stories, we have emerged as a trailblazer in entertainment, with a passion for storytelling and a vision to transform Nigeria’s creative industry, he said.

    Taylor added that he has carved out a remarkable path that bridges the traditional and the contemporary making the entertainment journey took a pivotal turn when he moved to the United States immersing himself in Hollywood’s creative ecosystem. 

    According to him, under the mentorship of industry luminaries like Tyler Perry, he honed his craft and gained invaluable insights into world-class storytelling. 

    Taylor said after being armed with this experience, he returned to Nigeria with a mission: to redefine entertainment and celebrate the richness of Nigerian heritage.

    Dotun Taylor, the producer of Asiyanbi, and legendary actor Baba Wande have announced that the stage adaptation of ‘Ti Oluwa Ni Ile’ will be nothing short of phenomenal.

    The stage play is set to premiere on October 4, 2024, at Terra Kulture, Lagos, Asiyanbi promises a spectacular retelling of the classic tale of land, ownership, and divine retribution.

    Baba Wande leads a stellar cast, reprising the iconic role that defined his career.

    “Returning to this role is like reliving a part of history that continues to resonate today,” Wande added.

    Baba Wande, a legend in his own right, leads the cast in the role that defined him, bringing to life the timeless moral dilemma at the heart of ‘Ti Oluwa Ni Ile.’
