…links food price drop to govt’s agricultural initiatives

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Borno State, Dr. Abiso Kabir, has praised the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) for passing a vote of confidence in President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Dr. Kabir, who serves as Chairman of Walwanne Group and was Deputy Director, Special Duties III in the APC Presidential Campaign Council for the 2023 elections, also welcomed the NEC’s decision to zone the party’s national chairmanship position to the North-West.

He described the move as a step toward strengthening the party’s internal structure.

Speaking in an interview in Abuja, he urged President Tinubu to acknowledge and reward the efforts of support groups that played a key role in his 2023 electoral victory.

“I urge Mr. President to find ways to recognise and appreciate the dedicated support groups that worked tirelessly to ensure his success in the last election,” he stated.

On economic matters, Dr. Kabir commended the federal government’s agricultural initiatives, crediting them with the recent drop in food prices.

He also lauded the efforts of the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, in tackling food inflation.

To sustain these gains, he called on the government to introduce subsidies on agricultural inputs, ensuring long-term food affordability.

He further emphasised the need for policies that promote both agricultural and political stability.

“We appreciate the ongoing efforts to lower food prices, but I appeal for subsidies on farm inputs to maintain price stability and prevent future spikes,” he added.
