Alumni launches N1b endowment fund for school’s rehabilitation

ABUJA/Northern Zone  of Ekiti Baptist High School Old Students’ Association (EBHSOSA), Igede-Ekiti, has launched a N1 billion endowment fund for rehabilitation of the school.

The Lagos/Ogun branch launching held on March 9.

Former students decried the school’s dilapidated condition. They said the school, founded by Baptist High Mission in 1956, has lost its glory.

The old students said the school’s condition worsened after it was handed over to the state in 1976.

National President, Ifelola Oyebade, said the funds would be used to revamp school to meet aspirations of the founding fathers.

He said: “The situation on ground is appalling. The takeover of the school in 1976 has not helped matters. The classrooms we did years ago are still standing but the ones done by the government are  bad.”

Chairman of Abuja Branch Joseph Okunato, appealed to the old students to contribute to upgrading of the facilities.

“It is not only the school facilities that we are concerned about, but the quality of people being raised. We are trying to rebuild the dilapidated buildings. What we are doing today will add to lives of children yet unborn.”
