FormerOcean Boys coach, Ada Gwegwe, now an assistant coach at Bayelsa United has stated that the new Al-Ahly Nigerian import, Peter Ebimobowei will add a lot of value to the Egyptian League.

Ada Gwegwe, who discovered Ebimobowei a couple of years back at Ndoro in Ekeremor LGA Bayelsa State, has advised Al-Ahly Sporting Club to be patient with Ebimobowei who helped the Restoration Boys survive relegation battle in the NPFL last season if he doesn’t start banging goals right from the start.

“I think if there is any coach who knew this boy, Peter Ebimobowei very well then it is coach Ada Gwegwe,” he told SL10.ng.

” I was the one who discovered him in the village and then brought him to the city. I’m into grassroots football development in Bayelsa State, I used to go to the creek for a talent hunt programme and in one of those visits I saw a raw talent in Peter Ebimobowei,”he said

Ada Gwegwe listed two main qualities that Peter Ebimobowei will bring to any team he plays for.

“I know he has a lot of qualities. Peter is a good goal poacher and a very good passer of the ball. Al-Ahly fans will have to be very patient with him in case the goals don’t happen straight away. He scored 18 goals last season in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) last season and that put him third behind Dolohins Emem Eduok and Enyimba’s Mfon Udoh.

Ebimobowei, 22, scored 18 goals for Bayelsa United in the 2013-14 season and that earned him a nomination for the Player of the Season in the 2014 League Bloggers Awards.

“Sharks are not a bad side at all. They played with all they had but we were determined because we knew a win would return us to the top.

“I am grateful that God used me to score the only goal. I have vowed to score more before the season ends.

“If not for some games that I missed, I would have hit double figures now but it is not too late,” Ebimobowei told SportingLife.

Bayelsa United have 49 points to place first while Pillars, 48 points, El Kanemi, 47 points and Enyimba, 46 points are second, third and fourth respectively.
