Eguma prepares for life without Eduok

Dolphinshead coach, Stanley Eguma  is already prepared for life without Emem Eduok in the coming football season.

As the club prepares for Saturday’s 2nd leg 1st round CAF Confederation Cup clash against Leones Vegetarianos FC in Port Harcourt, Eguma extolled the virtues of Emem saying his departure is a big loss for the club.

“In football, players come and go and clubs eventually replace those who depart.”

“The thing is that Emem does not fall in the category of players that you can easily replace. We tried to get Peter Ebimobowei soon after his departure was confirmed but unfortunately for us and fortunately for Peter he secured another deal outside the country which was beneficial to him,” Eguma said.

Dolphins eventually settled for Christian Pyagbara who crossed from Sharks to team up with the duo of Ifeanyi Egwim and Omo Johnson who were with the team last season.

“Pyagbara is one player that can comfortably fit into the shoes Emem left behind and I’m happy about it. He has a knack for scoring goals and he did so last season so we hope we will continue that way this season especially in the CAF Confederation Cup.

“Ifeanyi Egwim has been with us for some time and though he didn’t do too well last season we hope he will pick up this season,” Eguma said.

“Omo Johnson is another striker we have and I must say we are gradually getting to replace Emem and by the time these players click we may forget the name of Eduok,” Eguma said.

    Eduok accepts Eagles decision

Emem Eduok has admitted he doesn’t deserve to be in the Super Eagles  team after he was thrown out by the NFF following his transfer saga with Sarspsorg 08 of Norway and Esperance of Tunisia.

The second top scorer in the Nigeria Premier League was asked to leave the Super Eagles camp on Tuesday by the NFF due to the transfer imbroglio he’s currently involved in after signing professional contracts in Norway and Tunisia.

And following the latest development, the 20-year old says he has lost his concentration and doesn’t deserve to be with the team at the moment, adding that he must now face the consequences of his actions.

“I don’t think I should be with them (Eagles) because I was not concentrating anymore, I was just thinking and I agree with them (NFF), I have to go, it is the right thing to do. I’m a man and I have to face whatsoever comes up.

“I appreciate and I have nothing to worry about, so I think it’s the right thing to do. I’m in Abuja now, but I will leave today (Wednesday). It is the right thing for me to do now, I have to go home because I have to decide my future and go where I want to go,” he told Brila FM.

Eduok was one of the revelations of the 2014 Nigeria Professional Football League season, scoring 25 goals in all competitions – both for club and country – and was tipped for great things, but the sad reality is that he may be banned from the game for a couple of years by FIFA if the issue is not resolved amicably.

NFF probes ‘shameful’ Eduok transfer mess

NFF president Amaju Pinnick has declared the board will probe the controversies surrounding the transfer of Dolphins and Super Eagles’ striker Emem Eduok.

“Look at the cloud of controversy over the transfer of one of our brightest stars, Emem Eduok. That is a shame and should not happen. We will investigate this matter and come up with recommendations. Whoever is found culpable will have questions to answer,” Amaju said.

And as the controversy surrounding the future of Nigeria ‘B’ international Emem Eduok rages, he has come out to deny ever playing for a team called A and B Academy, who the Norwegian team Sarsborg 08 claimed they discussed the player’s transfer with.

The Dolphins hitman, who netted 20 goals last season in the Nigeria league, told Laurasboxx.com that he signed initially for the Norwegian team, before he opted to sign for Esperance after he discovered the team failed to contact Dolphins.

“I initially signed for Sarpsborg and I thought they had contacted Dolphin which they didn’t. I did not play for any academy called “A and B”,” he said.

“I’m a Dolphins player. I have signed for Esperance of Tunisia and will be unveiled after my international duty with Nigeria.”

Dolphins of Port Harcourt hotshot, Emem Eduok, who has reportedly joined Tunisian side, Esperance, has boosted the camp of the Super Eagles with his arrival from Tunis on Thursday morning.

Though he missed the morning training session, he was ready for the evening session at the Abuja National Stadium under the watchful eyes of Assistant Coach, Dan ‘The Bull’ Amokachi. The former power-playing Everton of England forward said with the arrival of Eduok, the team is not expecting any other player as invitee Godwin Igudia has sent a message that he is nursing an injury. He reiterated that only 19 players will be taken to Abu Dhabi from the 24 players currently sweating it out for shirts.

Eduok, himself said his trip to Tunisia was a huge success but he still needs proper clearance from his parent club, Dolphins of Port Harcourt after the two friendly games against Cote d’Ivoire and Sudan.

“The trip was okay, I have done my medicals and concluded terms with my new club but Dolphins will still have to clear me after our friendly games”, he said.

    Eduok sad despite MVP award

Dolphins of Port Harcourt and Most Valuable Player(MVP) of this year’s Federation Cup, Emem Eduok has expressed regret over his team’s inability to lift the title on Sunday.

The Super Eagles striker was on target for the Coach Stanley Eguma tutored side but his effort was not enough as they fell 2- 1 to Enyimba in the final played at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
“I’m not happy because we lost the game. We were supposed to win this game but that is football for you; it’s either you win or lose. I’m not happy for that, getting to the final only to lose the game, Eduok told SportingLife immediately after the game.
Despite the loss, Eduok was, however, grateful to God after being awarded the MVP of the competition.
“I’m ,however, happy with the MVP award that I got and I thank God for that. This award means a lot to me. It is my first award at a competition like this. I’m happy being the best player,” Eduok said.
