Ajagba  to face Bakole in Saudi May 3rd

The highly anticipated heavyweight clash between Nigeria’s Efe Ajagba and DR Congo’s Martin Bakole, originally set for New York in the United States, will now hold in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on May 3rd .

The bout has been stripped of its IBF heavyweight eliminator status after Bakole suffered a knockout loss to Joseph Parker.

Bakole had stepped in as a last-minute replacement for Daniel Dubois with less than 48 hours’ notice. Now, the fight will feature as an undercard event in the Canelo vs. William Scull bout.

Victory for Ajagba (20-1, 14 KOs) will boost his rankings and move him closer to a title shot, while a win for Bakole will help rebuild his reputation after his recent defeat.

Throughout his career, Bakole has fought in multiple countries, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United States, France, Poland, the UAE, England, Scotland, Belgium, and South Africa.

With the fight now on a grand stage in Riyadh, both boxers have a chance to impress a global audience and stake their claim in the highly competitive heavyweight division. The matchup promises an exciting showdown, as Ajagba’s power and precision will be tested against Bakole’s resilience and experience.

Hard-hitting Nigerian heavyweight contender Efe Ajagba stopped Australia’s Goodall in the 4th round of their 10-round bout at Tahoe Blue Event Center in Stateline, Nevada to retain his WBC Silver belt.

Referee Tony Weeks stopped their fight 50 seconds into the 4th round because Goodall had taken too many unanswered punches. Ajagba drilled Goodall with a right hand that wobbled him in the fourth round. Sensing that Goodall was ready to go, Ajagba unloaded an array of power punches that made the referee step between them to spare Goodall from taking unnecessary punishments.

It was a sweet revenge for Ughelli native Ajagba, who got his pound of flesh, beating the Aussie who had denied him a place in the final of the Super Heavyweight event at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games nine years ago.

Goodall came into their fight after producing his most noteworthy professional win, a sixth-round stoppage of Stephan Shaw on July 22 at FireLake Arena in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Shaw (18-2, 13 KOs) had earlier gone the distance with Ajagba in his previous fight, a 10-rounder Ajagba won by unanimous decision January 14 at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York.

Ajagba’s Pro record now stands at 19-1 with 14 knockouts while Goodall, a Brisbane native, fell to 10-2-1 with his first loss inside the distance.
