Haeken BK of Sweden striker, Chisom Egbuchulam has declared his readiness to hit the Allsvenskan league with a storm and ensure that his new team are major contenders for the title ahead of their Sunday league opener away against AIK Stockholm.

Egbuchulam who emerged as the best player in the domestic league last season joined the Swedish side after helping Enugu Rangers win the league title and he told SportingLife that he has adjusted well to life and he is raring to go.

He said he has played four games for his new club and has scored two goals.

    Egbuchulam off to Sweden

Rangers chief executive Christian Chukwu has confirmed Chisom Egbuchulam is on way to Sweden.

Rangers top scorer last season with 16 goals, Egbuchulam was on the verge of sealing a deal in Tunisia recently and that was why he was not registered for both the domestic and continental campaigns of the club.

But on return from the failed move to Tunisia, ‘The Flying Antelopes’ contemplated forcing a late registration with CAF for the sensational striker which would have cost the Nigerian club a fine of $500.

Christian Chukwu said the idea of forcing a late registration for Chisom has been discarded as the player is eyeing a move to an unnamed Swedish club.

“Chisom (Egbuchulam) is not registered with us for both the continental and the NPFL. He wants to move to Sweden. I don’t know which club but we wish him the best”, Chukwu, a former captain and coach of Rangers, said.

The former Eagles captain and later national team coach said they don’t want to be distracted with issues bordering on striker Egbuchulam as other players are lurking in the wings to fill the void and make a statement.

“As a footballer, you have a short playing period and so he has to make the best of the time. So we don’t want to be distracted,” he said.

“Seven Cameroonian players shunned their invitations for the last AFCON in Gabon. They turned to other players and guess what happened, they won the cup.

“So, there will be other players who will step up following Chisom’s absence too. That is football for you”.

Chisom later confirmed he could move to Sweden, but did not disclose when or the particular club.

“There is something like that, but I don’t know when”, he said.

    Egbuchulam heads for Turkey

Rangers star forward Chisom Egbuchulam is now set to take up an offer in Turkey after a transfer to Tunisian Club Africain crashed.

The 25-year-old Egbuchulam was set to cash in on the 16 goals he scored as Rangers were crowned Nigeria champions in October after a 32-year absence.

“Tunisian side Club Africain will not give Chisom a contract even after they had agreed a transfer fee with Rangers. He is now most likely to try his luck in Turkey, where he also has an offer,” a top source informed AfricanFootball.com.

It was understood that a transfer fee of $270,000 was agreed by the two clubs and the player was to be given a contract for three and a half years. The deal to the Tunis outfit did not go through because the coach had agreed to sign another striker.

The exciting Egbuchulam was first at another Tunisian club, Etoile du Sahel, but an agreement was not finalised eventually.

NPFL hotshot Godwin Obaje was also not offered a contract by Club Africain.

    Rangers declare Egbuchulam missing

Enugu Rangers have insisted that they did not authorise the departure of their star striker, Chisom Egbuchulam to Tunisia where he is reportedly close to joining Etoile du Sahel.
A statement from the Rangers’ Director of Media and Publicity, Foster Chime noted that: “We were surprised to read in the papers that Chisom had travelled to Tunisia without seeking permission from us officially.
“Our players are on break and we were not in position to monitor his movement while not with us. We have started discussions with Etoile du Sahel but our valuation of the player and theirs is miles apart and we do not intend to back down on the $500,000 we have placed on him.
“He is still our player because he is still contracted to us till 2018. Etoile du Sahel cannot go behind us to discuss with Chisom directly when we have not given them the permission to do so. We have reported to the appropriate quarters from the NFF to CAF and FIFA and we are willing to explore all the possible means to ensure that we get the services of our player back if they are not willing to pay the asking price.”

Egbuchulam hopes to join Etoile – source

Rangers may have raised several red flags for Chisom Egbuchulam to join Etoile du Sahel, but the star striker has fallen in love with the Tunisian champions and will very much wish to sign for them.

“Chisom wants to play for Etoile. They have offered him a very lucrative three and half year deal and at 24 he knows he has to make the move outside Nigeria now,” said a source who is familiar with the entire negotiations.

It appears transfer negotiations between Rangers and Etoile have broken down after the Nigeria champions claimed their Tunisian counterparts were trying to poach the player and that they never gave their blessing for him to fly out to Tunisia.

However, the player  is eager to play for Etoile because he has been offered a very financially rewarding deal, which could also be a springboard to a move to a bigger club and a bigger league.

The Tunisians are expected to reopen transfer discussions later this month as they are not deterred in their pursuit of the star forward, who fired 16 goals last season as Rangers won the Nigeria league.

The forward, who is also chased by Belgian club, Lokeren, said he is now ripe to move overseas.

“I am ripe and ready to play outside the country and I want to leave now. My greatest joy is that I have won the league with Rangers, I was the highest goal scorer of the club and as well Player of the Season in the NPFL.I now need to move on in my career by going to play outside Nigeria,” he said.

Nothing can stop us creating history, says Rangers’ Egbuchulam

DESPITE  Enugu Rangers’ 2-1 loss to Shooting Stars in the Match Day 35 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) on Saturday, explosive winger Chisom Egbuchulam is upbeat on the title aspirations of the Flying Antelopes.

Egbuchulam, who grabbed a consolation for Rangers, stated that the setback won’t stop his team from breaking the 32-year jinx in the top flight.

“Nothing can stop us from writing our names in the history books. We are going to win the trophy by the grace of God at the end of the campaign,” Egbuchulam told Goal.

“Rangers haven’t won the league title since 1984. That’s too far for a big club like ours. To some people the loss to Shooting Stars in Ibadan is a setback but we aren’t even thinking about that and have moved on. Anyone who writes us off is doing so at his own peril because we are overcomers.

“We are focused and looking at our three remaining matches against Sunshine Stars, Ikorodu United and El-Kanemi Warriors,” he said.

Rangers are second on the NPFL table with 54 points from 33 matches, two points adrift leaders Rivers United, who play away to Wikki Tourists this weekend.

Chisom Egbuchulam insists he never thought of leaving the Enugu Rangers despite being linked with a move to a bigger club.

The striker has attracted interest from several big clubs, with some reports suggesting he is set to make a move to FC Ifeanyi Ubah. However, he revealed he is flattered by the interest from other clubs, but claimed he cannot see himself leaving Enugu Rangers any time soon.

“I am pleased with the interest of big clubs in me – if it is true it shows that they are watching me and happy with my football,” Egbuchulam told Goal.

“But my head is focused on Rangers, I never thought of leaving here and I want to achieve my goals here. In football, you don’t even know about tomorrow,” he added.
